And the labyrinthine excuses Musk uses to fend off allegations of being thin-skinned are both ridiculous on their face, but also dangerous given his corrosive influence on young insecure men. But malignant narcissists never care what damage they may create, so long as the ultimate good (meaning themselves, in their minds) is being praised somewhere. We're unfortunate to live in a time where it is so easy for uber-rich narcissists to compete for influence on policy and society, when none of them really has their heart in anything but pleasuring themselves on a planet-sized scale. We allow far too much of our time and attention being wasted, and our fates being decided (through donations, corruption, vanity, etc) by a handful of selfish spoiled brats in adult oaf bodies. The vile and self-obsessed tyrants of old, lacking all virtue save for their magnificent fortunes, have been reborn in our time to pollute history and plague us all.

While technically true it’s a miss understanding of what happened. Hertz purchased those cars at the peak of a car market in general. Prior to the last year or two Teslas resale value has been outstanding. Hertz usually gets volume discounts too. But with Tesla they purchase new Tesla’s at a market price peak for new cars, at full retail price. It was a bad decision/deal. The cost of depreciation here is the market for all new cars falling substantially as interest rates have gone up over the last 1-2 years. The interview showed Don Lemon in a very bad light. It exposes Don as an extremely bad interviewer who seemed to have an agenda against Elon Musk. Musk initially tried to accommodate Lemon's adversarial tone but when Lemon piled it on, seeming to try to catch Musk in some gotcha, the interview turned sour and never recovered. Lemon did not have the skills to keep the interview from derailing. From what I saw, Lemon was the reason for the way the interview went and I am surprised he can't see it.

Precisely. You'd think a billionaire with a history of drug use and erratic behaviour might try to use such a question to put minds at ease (like, say, his investors), but no. Elmo could give an honest answer (or at least convincing rebuttal) and praised Lemon for having the balls to ask the question even if he didn't particularly feel comfortable answering it. They shake hands, agree to disagree, and both come away with increased credibility. Elmo isn't that smart, though. He lacks the necessary self-awareness and self-control to be such an unfiltered public figure.

The whole point is that his questions were not journalism, were activism. There is no holding EM accountable for whatever other people say on the platform. The 1A says that people are free to express themselves and the Section 230 of the DCA states that platforms like X are not responsible for anything that the users do. He has put in place tools that allow people to curate their feed by blocking whoever they want to block, for the body of users to self-moderate using Community Notes, and also there are mechanisms for people to report what is believed to be criminal behaviour. Finally, there is no such thing as "hate speech", only speech that you hate. So you the answer to your questions is pretty easy: if you believe someone committed a crime on X, block the user, report the content to X and to the authorities.

What does allowing free speech have to do with paying someone to speak? LOL silly little kids...
@andrewcadden76157 ай бұрын
@@TB-ni4ur it's the message that it sends... Musk rails on and on about freedom of speech and cancel culture - then makes it clear that his skin is paper thin and that he will actively go out of his way to push, punitively, anyone who does anything to exercise that free speech in a way that he finds personally offensive of displeasing. His message is basically 'never use your freedom of speech in a way that challenges me or any of my views'. He doesn't have to pay Don Lemon - but he could stop being such a hypocrite - if he's opposed to cancel culture, then he should stop cancelling people. It's not the first time that he's made the headlines for banning people whose speech he personally doesn't like on X, but simultaneously has no problem with platforming anti-semites and neo-Nazis... He clearly went out of his way to cancel his deal with Don Lemon out of spite because he felt personally slighted. If Elon Musk thought that was a confrontational interview he should try watching Andrew Neil interview Ben Shapiro - or indeed any sitting UK political or current/former Prime Minister... Then read a bit about who Andrew Neil is - super right wing, major player formerly in the Murdoch empire, he just happens to be a professional who understand that it's his job to ask hard questions that force someone to really justify and defend their position. Hilarious how 'journalism' in the United States is sooooo soft when it comes to handling its guests.
