Don is a bonafide genius and virtuoso. The only other guitarist thats comes even close was his good friend Michael Hedges, whom is beloved to all who heard his brilliance. Love your stuff, Don❤

The VHS grain and compression give this a real ethereal quality. Fingerstyle and classical guitar are two of my favorite music genres period.

Kind of like the "Bob Ross" of guitar...This guy integrates "normal" guitar with fingerstyling so well it's hard for me to tell where one "leaves off" and the other "begins", if you get my drift. I have listened to many fingerstylists, and this guy is kind of unique in that respect, for me. Very musical, very talented. GREAT to listen to. From a layman that loves music, never picked up a guitar, but am seriously thinking of doing just that. If I do, and I ever get good enough to incorporate stuff at this level, I will definitely come back to some of these lessons. This guy, and others like him at this level, have probably played more hours than I have left (free ones) in my life, judging by the kind of ridiculous world class proficiency he (and some others) demonstrates here and elsewhere. ;-) "Sorry, I made a mistake there"...like anyone's going to hold it against him...many of us wouldn't even have noticed, if he hadn't pointed it out. I know how my modes of thinking changed as I went through engineering school, then pursued a career in it, learning all the time. Makes me wonder what level these guys think at when they think about music...probably about 50 levels above what I even know exists. Before I started watching videos like these I thought the complexity (# of possibilities) of chording, etc. was simpler than on a piano...especially with alternate tunings, that is not even remotely so. I watch a vid of Tuck Andress doing similar chords (same chord, with octaves, too) up and down the neck and it was mind blowing, made my hair hurt. I instantly realized at least one reason why transporting symphonic works to the guitar is/was SO difficult. One thing Tuck is known for, if I remember correctly. That, and fingering at a god like level.

Thank you for playing such fine music! You are so very skilled. I will wear my Don Ross tshirt with pride, knowing that I actually did witness you playing your guitar and there were no mirrors or magical illusions, just you! And I saw you at our wonderful Marigold Truro N.S.
