And those weren't children on the cover, those were demons in the bowels of Hell. Tony Lip : No shit! They must've been naughty kids! What a great scene and movie. Thanks to that I discovered doc, his beautiful music and his art.

I met him once and he was so kind, eloquent and charming. It was in a department store and he spoke with me ( lowly retail worker) for a while. I think it was Tony V. with him who initially acted as if I may have been hassling Dr. Shirley but he assured Tony that we were just conversing. God bless them both.

I don´t listen classical music much, but even though I am not a good artist, I know if something is good. And this is masterpiece, even if I still prefer rock music. But good music is good music, doesn´t matter if it´s Iron Maiden or Don Shirley, both are great, and both can touch your feelings, just in a different ways. Such a shame, that I guess most of the people didin´t know this before the movie came in, because it really seems, that Don Shirley was a true gentleman and a true genius and he deserves a lot of credit for what he did and how much did it cost for him.

A unique pianist with a sincerely unique mind. I am happy that he found recognition amongst many notable musicians. For me it took “Green Book” to bring him to my and I suspect most of current admirers. Makes me wonder just how many other talents are left to languish. I read somewhere that there are 10 thousand possibilities for concert placement. I am sure that there must be 10 million wannabes languishing to be heard.

I saw the recap of the Green Book. You can hear the jazz and classical influence so well, it is very impressive. It is such a shame he America was / is racist and he wasn't able to live out his full dreams as a concert pianist. His compositions are beautiful, makes me realize how much I can do with less in my own compositions. Wonderfully placed notes. I wonder if he ever improved during these recordings of his rhapsodies.

Ha! Keith Jarret wishes he were Don Shirley! This dude was more accomplished. Learned piano at age 2. Had his first orchestral composition premiered by the london philharmonic orchestra.
