Proud teetotaler here. I think it makes sense to say that there should be no legalisation without care and support for people who take drugs. Legalisation shouldn't mean leaving communities that are affected by drug use to rot. For one thing, the prohibition of cannabis is a ridiculous policy that belongs in the history books. Many of us don't see that for some people drug taking is a coping mechanism, and I think the answer to that is not to punish or penalise the person for daring to enjoy themselves. That will only compound feelings of shame and stigma, especially when it comes to harder drugs. It should be treated as a public health issue.

drugs should be leaglised but you should have to talk to a doctor to get them, even recriatinol, then be told how quickly ur likely to get addicted and what will happen when you do, they can remind you of this fact every time you get the drug and offered counselling which will be paid for by the taxes brought in from the drug
@rcoimbra0027 күн бұрын
you know that more important that the wrong classification of drugs in hard drugs and light drugs is not so comprehensive as the style of use maybe to be more intense, disorganised, and so if you wake up and all they long you keep smoking joints it'll be a kind of destructive use of cannabis and the opposite for instance if you go to a party where some friendly group offers you a good line of cocaine it does not mean that you cannot stop using and totally lose control over yourself, so drug policies should be made for all people that take drugs and for those with more vulnerable and disorganised lives there should be proximity outreach work and peer support... it is good for everyone buying cocaine in a certain place is no good and you know because you have places where drugs can be tested and the same for MDMA and LSD, and all new psychoactive substances that are always appearing... So It is not just an health issue, it should be inter-sectorial mobilizing also specific social services, for instance for homeless situations, or housing first programs, providing drop-in centers where they can meet and spend some time see tv and where they can ask for harm reduction materials they need, safe consumption spaces have many of these spaces led by the community itself like with HIV and hepatitis prevention, referral and treatment, also education and promote awareness sessions and also more formal training so that people that use drugs can be the best informed possible about concrete situations like how to react when there is a police intervention, but I agree that through health area it is easier to pose the debate in more rational terms and not on patronizing opinions and emotions that drugs are bad (we know much more), but in a certain sense there is some risk of moving towards decriminalisation but pathologise people that use drugs... and drug use can be built upon so many different motives that the disease model of health is not adequate, we need integrated responses to the real needs people that use drugs face, and people with lived and living experience of drug use should be part of the stakeholders to promote Good Health and Well-Being until 2030, from the laws and legislations, through plans, and programs and projects and interventions and actions that really empower people that use drugs moving patterns of use to less aggressive and self-destructive to more self-awareness and regain trust on people and on more normative society that should also learn that the issues surrounding a person that uses drugs, usually, have a lot of diverse and intense issues, being that most times the real problem has less to do with the act of using a drug than to feelings of loneliness and unable to feel belonging and to fit to normative represented social realities. So integrated, inter-sectorial and biopsychosocial approach, having an holistic approach to the complexity that is each one's personalities and lives, sorry for not so good English and too much speech ...

most advocates would say the most urgent care and support that users can get IS legalisation, it's the prerequisite for getting any other aspect of care even started

I'm not advocating opioid use but it's prohibition that makes that so dangerous. Opioids generally, when you know your tolerance and the stuff your using is a known dose/pharma' grade they'rea lot safer and healthier.
