It’s all about “the work!” I’m reminded of the cat with the galaxy around its neck from Men in Black. The more you look the deeper the details…

I have been playing a long time and have heard a lot of instruction. This is eye-opening stuff and your presentation of it is excellent. Extremely helpful and this has helped me advance my playing the first time in a long time

That Collings i35 deluxe is the sweetest thing on the planet Chris. And as usual an awesome lesson to go with that sweet horn.

Another hot one. Love the I to Idim, that had not crossed my mind for first 2 bars for blues. I wish I had kept a written list of all the movements you’ve covered. Maybe time to rewatch

So many possibilities in just two bars! Beautiful as always, Chris

Woah. This video opened so much up for me. I just spent 20-30 mins on this and I can already see how it's shining a light on a lot of things I'm missing and need to work on. I'm very excited to begin this work. Thank you so much for sharing this. Wonderful. Subscribed and would love to have a few skype lessons once I've spent some time with this material. All the best.

Thanks so much. I can't believe I have never thought of these blues changes before but it's going to help me really spice up my lines and start to think properly about this progression. Awesome lesson. Thanks to Barry as well for his genius and generosity.

Have you ever considered writing a book? The Barry Harris Harmonic Method is really good but doesn't go into enough depth when it comes to dealing with lines etc.
@usmc18752 жыл бұрын
My man, this statement has been said before in other videos, " this channel is the book". if learning all the ways to play something is too much( it is for me), you can still transcribe the lines he plays in these videos, analyze them, and add them to your own playing, by playing them, everywhere they sound right to you. they will always sound different. that's why Chris shows them. at least you hear him tell you what scale is the idea over . he does this every time every video, one just needs to sit down and study. this channel is beyond college education because it provides freedom and truth. this channel is what the internet should be all about.

Hey! Great lesson 🙇♂️ but towards the end you talk about F7 being used when on a Blues for Alice type progression (Bb7 / A-7b5 / D7). I like the sound but I’m struggling a bit on the theory behind the F7 scale down to the 3rd of D7- would you mind explaining that? Thanks 🙏

Hey Chris do you have any bebop listening recommendations?
@TheNuma1913 жыл бұрын
I do: check out the Beets Brothers. They've published three CD-s: 'Beets Brothers', 'School is Closed Now' and 'Brotherwise (New Dimensions of The Beets Brothers)'. These are all available on yt. They'll blow your mind. It's often more postbop and hardbop, but don't let that bother you

I have a question, so while the band is playing Eb you are playing F7, or Bb diminished?
@ATLS7023 жыл бұрын
Yes, F7 over Eb7 but don’t mix their own diminished subs. Gb diminished works too but in the context of F7, where Bbdim is Eb. It can be helpful to name them with the flat 9. E diminished for Eb7
@Jared1995033 жыл бұрын
I dint know they make e flat 7up?
