When I was a lad a friend of mine had a, brother who played clarinet, the brother was away doing his national service and he gave me one of his records, Benny at Carnegie Hall 1938, man I wore it out, I could hear the other side playing through, I eventually replaced it and then replaced it with the full concert CD Benny found in his loft,, I never tire of it, I must have played it ten thousand times but I still hear something new, thanks Benny, Gene, Harry, Lionel, et al.

I am in swing dance classes with 20/30 somethings and they love this music. Benny Goodman, Chick Webb, Glenn Miller, the Dorsey brothers. There is hope for the younger generation!

Of course I always kept up with Benny, I'm 66 now and still remember seeing "The Benny Goodman Story" when I was 12. I played Clarinet, too, and had my own band. We always included some numbers associated with Benny.
