Dick nash on the Trombone, still alive and kicking, (at the time of posting), at 96 years old!. Legend.
@josiah56611 жыл бұрын
His playing got more simplistic in his old age but he hasn't lost a step in taste. In fact, it's because he plays so little here that each note carries so much more life and meaning.
@bluepiano0114 жыл бұрын
why rap...why hateful speeches that rhyme...why cant you just listen to this? why have people become so shallow so impatient so angered so stressed so thoughtless? This is the music that doesn't curse and spout something negative every 5 seconds. This is music that reminds people of a happier time.

When I was a lad a friend of mine had a, brother who played clarinet, the brother was away doing his national service and he gave me one of his records, Benny at Carnegie Hall 1938, man I wore it out, I could hear the other side playing through, I eventually replaced it and then replaced it with the full concert CD Benny found in his loft,, I never tire of it, I must have played it ten thousand times but I still hear something new, thanks Benny, Gene, Harry, Lionel, et al.

bbark96 is getting some great stuff to hear, I saw Benny in person 5 years before this in Cohasset, MA. An unforgettable evening. Of course I always kept up with Benny, I'm 66 now and still remember seeing "The Benny Goodman Story" when I was 12. I played Clarinet, too, and had my own band. We always included some numbers associated with Benny.

We had a 10,000 sq ft dance pavilion located between Wayland Michigan and Bradley, Michigan(Dixie). The Kent County Probate Court allowed the pavilion to be destroyed; also the Wayland Twp. officials stood by and said nothing. We had paid to preserve the landmark. @@colejohnsondrums Michael "Peanuts" Hucko. He was a phenomenal player, often ranked just behind Benny as a swing player
Benny Goodman's armaments seems to play out like a Greek Tragedyy. You have to listen very carefully for the 'peripeteia' or the moment in the story when the tragedy is revealed and a sudden change in intellect and logic occurs. This song is no exception to that logic and his arrangement of Count Basie's One O'clock jump when he played Carnegie Hall. Bravo maestro!
@dieselguitar14405 жыл бұрын
Could you please explain what you mean? Your comment seems interesting but I don't quite grasp it. I should have been asking this back in 2013, it messes with my mind how old some comments are on youtube.
