They run faster on airplane mode. Battery lasts longer too. I've been reading off Kindles since 2010 and love them. Have a current generation Paperwhite with the night mode and it's great.

I actually read on airplane mode 100% of the time and don’t even bother with over the air stuff with my old kindle. Makes the battery last way longer and run faster.

Bought a 4th gen paperwhite a couple of months before the new one got announced. But I got it second hand for $17 in perfect condition. Definitely get a second hand one when it comes to devices like this.

Any time I make a purchase I always check for new model release dates. I do this when buying a car too. Last thing u want is to buy a car and year later a new model is out making your car drop in price like crazy. Normally if the model is soon to change you should get a crazy discount like the one you got. Otherwise jus wait 4 the new model 2 drop.!!!

@@sandeepathwal4188cars get updated yearly, the only time this will really apply is if it’s a refresh year, then the car thing will make a lot more sense because that’s when it’s a major design refresh and other major updates. Otherwise it’s pretty much incremental were the difference between last year and the next is not much of a difference

Makes sense. These devices age way, waaaay better than other electronics. However, for 120 bucks I just got the latest paperwhite brand new. I'll use it a lot so I think it's worth it

Used kindles work fine if you don’t mind one that’s a bit slow for loading books. Turning pages is typically always fine though

I bought a used kindle ppw4 after watching this and I'm so happy. I got it for a good deal and it's 32gb! The only issue it had is that it can't get registered, but it's okay as there are other options out there like sideloading and the kindle works totally fine! Thank u for the tip 🤗

What do you mean as sideloading? Is there anyway or steps by steps for sideloading? Because mine couldn't work well, it keeps saying unable to connect/registered, although my wifi works well on other devices. What kindle you had issues on?

Mine's also like yours but I can't register it since it's used and I tried factory reset or reseting it....nothing. I even tried updating manually and registering it to make a new amazon account but the page wouldn't load. Can anyone help please? Kindles hold up. My parents gave me one for Christmas when I was twelve and another twelve years later it's still ticking, albeit a little slowly and the battery isn't awesome. Definitely worth buying used

The only downside on buying an used Kindle is, depending of the model you get, not having access to the Kindle store anymore, since Amazon shut it down on those devices in August 17, 2022. That’s why I decided going with a new generation paperwhite, as I don’t have a computer to transfer my books

I agree unless you are someone who wants to read near water (in the bathtub, swimming pool, beach.) The reason is that you don't know the history and thus cannot be sure that if you are buying a device with water resistance, how much resistance is left. If you are not going to do any of that. I agree, buy second hand!

I got the 4th gen Kindle for 12 USD. It functions well with minor cosmetic damage. I like it better than the newer touchscreen version, mainly because the page back/forward buttons on both sides. Buying a used Kindle is a good way to start reading again. If you dont like it, you can always resell it and you wont lose much (or any) money

Amazon Kids devices are the base device with a kids case (Echo/Echo Pop is design), a year of Amazon Kids+, no ads (to remove them, it's $15), and if you break it, they will replace it for 2 years. ALL your Amazon devices should just be them. On sale, they're WAY cheaper!

Just because you don't see damage doesn't mean it isn't damaged. Plus older versions may not have a feature a buyer wants. Then they have to pay more than they would if they had just bought the new one. Cheap isn't always the best answer when it comes to tech.

I have an old Paperwhite (6. Generation) and I‘m still so happy with it. Only thing missing is the Dark mode but that‘s not worth spending the money for. I usually use my tech until it falls apart or its software dies on me. Of course I very occasionally update if a new functionality is worth it. But that doesn’t happen too often.

What do you mean by spend all you money on a kindle… for reference the cheapest new kindle is $100, the most expensive is $250, the cheapest iPad cost $400 and it’s not even upgraded. The phone you are reading this on is probably between $600 to $1500. The old kindles don’t have the newest updates so it’s worth it to buy a new kindle. And if you can’t afford it, then just read off your phone.💀

the new kindles use usb-c instead of micro-usb which is way more convenient and faster imo. But if you don't mind having to carry another cord buy used..my old kindle lasted 12 years!
