Splitting hairs but Blundstone aren’t glued, they’re thermally injected directly on the uppers so a bit more durable and definitely water proofed. In Australia Blunnies are used as work boots by builders so aren’t expected to stay unscratched and unmarked.

The idea that Blundstones have issues with water ingress is crazy. I have worn them for 25 years for use in wet snow as a winter boot in Canada. Keep the leather proofed with Nikwax a few times a year and they are perfect.

I'm no boot connesuir but I love my blundstones. They're just great all rounders. And as an Australian who used to live in Canada (where everyone I knew owned at least one pair of blundstones) I'm fairly sure that they are much cheaper here than they are in north America (just picked some up this week for $150). This makes them a reasonable choice considering their compromises on quality. And they're comfy af.

Blundstones are my go to daily drivers. They're almost as comfy as sneakers and you get the added durability of the leather and the rubber sole. When you break down all of the elements of the boots and compare them to other boots than yeah I guess it makes sense to buy other boots. But holistically the Blundstones just work for what they are. They're pricey but considering they're the boot I use the most I would say it was worth it. Most people that write a review on the Blundstones tend to agree.

I’ve never had but a lot of people I see who’ve bought blunds for years say the past few have been dramatically worse. Again I have no idea what do you think about them not being made in Australia? @@dominiccortez4499 I got mine less than a year ago so I can't compare them to how they were built previously. I still love them and wear them all the time. @randynovick79722 жыл бұрын
Redbacks are injection molded-on soles, just like Blunnies, but you didn't mention that. Having had both Redbacks and Blunnies, I prefer Blunnies - they're more comfortable. Both pairs got into the wet on the regular and were fine, so I don't know why you say they leak. I have an orthotic in my Blunnies and the fit is perfect. My Redbacks, on the other hand, had a center seam on the seam that created a pressure point on the instep and I could never soften it... even with my orthotic, my feet would be crying out in pain (all over) by dinnertime. Had to donate them. As for scratches in Blunnies (I'm wearing mine today) it's no wukkas. The boots don't care and I don't care. Yeah, Blunnies aren't made in Oz anymore, and it's fashionable to hate on them... lots of people do. It's okay to like what you like, but I'll be buying another pair of Blunnies when these wear out. Cheers!

For all the reasons you mentioned, i love my Jim Greens. I'll add they are advertised as, and actually made in South Africa (unlike Bluestone's "Tazmania" logo even though theyre made in China/Vietnam). I'll also add that the company Jim Green does great wildlife conservation work and treats their workers very well compared to other boot manufacturers. They certainly lack the foamy comfort of my old Blundstones, but make up for it with a more rugged, resolable, outsile and wider toe box.
@misterbianco62022 жыл бұрын
I've worn Thursday, Red Wing, RM William and many more - and none of them could ever touch the comfort of my Blundstones. And some of the things you say are simply not true. Blundstone indeed uses full grain leather and the claim that they would leak right away is pretty funny as I've never had any leather boot that are more waterproof than Blundstone. They held up astoundingly well for years and years (not month). And you can just put in any insole to make it "your" boot and most comfortable this side of your favorite slippers. To me, in the real world, they're worth more the money than pretty much any other boot.

Thanks for this video. I’d just ordered the Blundstones when I saw your video. So I ordered the Thursdays to be able to compare the two. Side by side, the Thursdays are dramatically higher quality. It’s just clear. I first thought, do I want to wear the Thursdays in the mud walking the dog? Then I realized the Blundstones were more expensive, so why would it be better to risk damaging them instead of the less expensive Thursdays? I’m not an expert but I’ve worn shoes many decades. A cheap shoe has a look and a fit. If they actually are cheap, then they’re fine for work because they’re easily replaced when they’re soon scuffed and ruined. An expensive cheap shoe gives up this advantage. In terms of style who is to answer? But I felt the more “tailored” construction of the Thursday boot was more to my taste. I thought the Blundstones were sloppy looking. You could say more of a farmyard look. Absolutely valid. I’ve often bought for look instead of quality. In my opinion the Blundstones are made only as good as they need to be. Fine. But then cut some of the savings back to the consumer, why dontcha? You won’t? Then ok, I’ll buy a better boot, better materials, better construction, better style (to me) for less money. Boot Spy, thanks again. You did your viewers a solid.

The Blundstones and the Redbacks will also suffer from hydrolysis of the mid and outsoles because of the TPU and PU materials. Any footwear with these polyurethanes must be worn on a regular basis to not have the soles disintegrate.

It's super interesting to see the difference in price point internationally (maybe from being shipped over?). I've mostly seen them for $150-$250AUD depending on its the official website or a store, while Timberlands and Doc Martens are closer to $300 AUD and before shipping, Thursdays start at $300. The RRP is $154AUD (~$103USD) but they're always available cheaper at various outlets.

Thanks for the information. It was very useful. I have a pair of Blundstone's and the sole exploded after not wearing them during the pandemic year and a half. Have to agree about the Blundstones....they used to be the gold standard here in Australia and were made about 100 kms from where I live.....then they obviously got greedy and decided to get them made off shore to maximize their profits. In doing doing so minimized their quality and also their fit. They used to be comfortable right from new but now are no where near that in any of their boots. Was a sad day when they did this. I bet they regret their decision now in this day and age where home grown products are what everyone wants...not overseas junk. Changing the subject...what would you recommend as the best value hiking/jungle boot that's super durable, comfortable and not too heavy. I do a lot of bush walking through fairly rugged terrain and clear the walking tracks from time to time. Have been using steel blue work boots for some time but their comfort after a few hours leaves a bit to be desired. Cheers!

If you're reading this, don't let this guy's biased review fool you. Just because he personally doesn't like Blundstones, doesn't mean that they aren't incredibly comfortable, durable, and versatile boots. Get a pair for yourself and you'll see what I mean.
@BootSpy2 жыл бұрын
It’s true that my review is biased: I’ve tried over 100 pairs of boots in the years since running this channel. And when I tried Blundstones and looked at the materials inside, they weren’t nearly as good as many other options out there that you can get for much cheaper. So in that way, yes, I’m biased against blundstone because they’re objectively not as well built, versatile, or comfortable as other boots you can find for the same price.

Dawg, they are called Chelsey boots. All of them.

You clearly missed the point of Blundies from the getgo my dude, they’re a cheap as shit, tradies boot, designed to be worn hard and beat to shit, but comfortable enough to get through the day. It’s designed to be cheap, beaten up and replaced.
@BootSpy2 жыл бұрын
Or you could spend a little more and have something that lasts 4x longer. You can buy good boots and still beat them up. But you won't need to throw them away...you can just keep wearing them.

Nah, they blew it. Sold out to asia. Only hipsters wear them in Australia. we still have redback and mongrel 100% Aus made
@henners88 Жыл бұрын
@@arynvidsa the problem with Redbacks is they look like safety boots with the horrible clear soles and air cushion cells. I don’t doubt they are great boots in regards to durability and comfort, but Blundstone’s look a lot more stylish and this is perhaps why they are so popular outside of Australia also. The 585’s I’ve had since January still look brand new and I’ve worn them nearly everyday for 8 months. So durable and comfortable and they put to bed the myth Asian QC is inferior to the rest of the World.

Please consider Blundstones vegan shoes. They put alot of care into making these including the thread. The sole is very breathable and the shoes look as good as the original. They don't have a synthetic look or feel and are very durable.
