One of our family members is lactose intolerant, so most of the premade kits are not appropriate unless we want to deal with projectile vomiting. People that are doing food storage should already be eating this way at least once or twice a week. Eat what you store. (We store shelf stable lactose free milk. ) The only suggestion I would make is to put the food in a wheeled tote or possibly to put a days worth of food in a grocery bag and put the bags in the tote, then it would be easier to move the items if you needed to put them in the car or something.

I've gone from storing my canned goods in the flats from the store to 24 pack beer boxes. More sturdy and easily movable.

Lots of good ideas to change up what can be put aside each week from the regular grocery shop for that rainy day.

When I was a trucker ,in a truck with no microwave ,no frig,it was terrible eating only truck stop food. Ugh. So Id get alot of these items to have as a meal. I lived the little peanut butter tubs ,even to dip celery ,pretzels in Pop Tarts are great for breakfast but I preferred ones without frosting .

wish i had the spare 5 grand for a decent home freeze dryer, and a place where i could run one lol. small apartment means neighbors would get angry with one since most runs take 1-3 days lol.

I appreciate your level head and common sense. Alot of channels like yours have went from prepper to political.

That is also a great way to meal plan. Since I am also a canner, I am moving from pints to half pints for my meats since I am a single. Something I am going to experiment with is hard tack, a Civil War food for a bread replacement.

Such a good idea! You can really tailor make these kits to fit your own tastes and/or health concerns. Just have to do a little research and substituting. Thanks!

Great advice! You can also bump up the Variations, by throwing in Smoothie packets, that are freeze dried, dried fruit/trail mix (if you have teeth), and granola bars. Pea Soup is a great option, i use it when my tummy feels sick. If you freeze dried bread slices? You could put one or two slices into bags, with margarine packets. Or have a jar of ghee in the bin. Sandwiches or with soups, would be my plan. Or making a "hot sandwich" with a saucy packet and maybe canned beans/peas? Mini sausages and pickled eggs, with that bread some saurekraut, would be good. PS simply adding a touch of water into the bag with bread, and zipping up, should make it Fresh again, while warming the rest up! PS put a tiny folding camp stove and hot mitts, for moving the hot cans, too. Matches perhaps? And pack of Baby Wipes, for Washing any body bits, in case theres no water.

Processed cheese is deadly to me ((actually the SALTS used) powered drinks, flavored chips, certain candies, protein bars). I carry an EpiPen to use and then 6 hours in the ER. So this make a lot of sense.

Thank you for discussing the cons of the food kits. A lot of prepping channels (affiliates/consultants for the company) are so busy ptomoting and trying to sell the product that they don't tell you that, for instance, you are getting mainly carbs with *maybe a little bit of fake meat and "processed" vegetables. I have nothong against them being an affiliate ... I've bought thing through sevetal Amazon links ... just tell "the rest of the story." Always read the labels. I have made a few Meals in a Jar that I put in the 2.5 gallon zip bags (depends on how many items). I have a spaghetti one, a pizza one and a tuna mac and cheese one that I can think of off hand. I have a pretty good stash of canned soup amd meats, both store bought and home canned. I'm not a breakfast eater, either, but I need to work on that ... maybe ceteal since I'll have instant milk. And I do like oatmeal.😊

Oatmeal is a great meal extender too. You can add it too stews and soups too.

Always read the labels. You’d never eat that prepper product pretending to be food. There is so much in the grocery store from rice packages to individual coffee. There is no excuse to buy over priced pretend food. Don’t just focus on calories though most prepper products are nutrient and calorie weak. Trans fats? Fat % over 20%? Added flavourings? Added colourings? Titanium dioxide? Hard pass. Eat food not chemicals. For those lucky Canadians watching our Red Cross has a shop section 2400k lifeboat rations for under eight dollars Canadian. Great for car kits. Kitty is making falafel these days with dried chick peas that don’t require boiling. Stunning what she is creating. Can’t ge5 her on film sadly. Great video. Fill the pantry, eat the pantry, store multiple dried goods not just white rice! If making an mre I wonder why? Just carry Lara or Clif bars and salted nuts when away from home. Throw in dates and you have nutrition

It is rather fun to come up with your own kit. Maybe you could film just Kitty's hand as she prepares meals if she is shy on camera.

@@TUKByV 100g is great, look into getting a postpartum spray bottle the kind with an angle Walmart has them for like $4. Ive tried many methods to wash myself and using one of these uses the least amount of water. Also using a liquid soap. I'm able to wash my whole body, shave and wash my hair with 64oz of water. If I wasn't washing my hair its about 32 oz. You'll have to keep clean and using as little water to keep clean means more for cooking and drinking.
