What a lovely card! The ombre colors are so pretty. You could always use a square die on the ombre card to cut out the middle. The rest is still large enough to glue your front card on and you have a smaller useable piece of ombre card for the inside or another project.

I did this for Mother's Day! I made probably 250 layered flowers plus a variety of vases, apple barrels, mini envelopes, and bouquet wrappers for a dozen kids to make cards for their moms. A crafty play date, basically. I made the wrappers the exact same way.
