Today we’ll look at Gyeon WetCoat essence, and compare it to regular Gyeon wet coat at its minimum and maximum strength mixtures.
There is no reason to buy Gyeon wet coat now.

If you have a condenser dryer or a dehumidifier, you can use the water they collect to mix with the Essence. You could also use said water for a bucket wash, if the water where you live is not great quality. Just as a side note, use the same water to top up the windscreen washer or radiator, or for that matter even a steam iron.

I have never used essence but do use wet coat ALOT....never had theses results. When I apply wet coat I apply it to a wet panel and immediately hose it off, the outcome is ways super hydrophobic. I've never had it drag like I saw when you applied it to a dry panel? Anyway.. Thanks for the video, I will have to try essence now as the thought of wet coat dillutable is mind blowing.

Yeah it’s odd how poorly it’s performing. It does work much better when I spray and wipe, but still far behind Essence. I looked on my bottle but it doesn’t list an expiry date, and it’s only ever been storing in proper temps.

How long this product will last. How often I need to apply to the car? Do I have to do anything prior? Eg using coating. Or wax. Or I just apply it direct in the clean wet car? It will last 2 3 4 months? Please let me know the appriate application and the appropriate procedure please! Thanks.

I’ve got wet coat, didn’t realise essence existed. The way I use wet coat is following the wash/rinse I spray on the car panel by panel, spreading with microfibre applicator then rinse off and leave to dry (I’ve got a DI water vessel). I’ve been impressed with it… seeing this video though I think I’ll be trying essence. Are you saying essence at 1:15 D.R is better than wet coat? Is so it makes it far better value

It is compared to my bottle of wet coat. Ot sure if WetCoat has a shelf life so might be worth trying a new bottle.

I've gone through a few bottles of wet coat. It's fast and easy to use but have since changed to washing with Gtechniq ceramic wash (which in itself seems to give a decent layer of hydrophobic coating) and using the Gyeon quartz quick detailer as a drying aid and I can't tell any difference other than one less step not using the wet coat and also that Gyeon detailer spray adds a crazy amount of gloss/shine.

Yeah there is more than one way to boost a coating/sealant whathaveyou, everyone will find their way and products that works for them. I haven’t really been into ceramic/wax/sealant boosting soaps, just not a workflow I typically have a use for. I also really don’t use wet coat type products often, my own cars have test panels that can’t be tampered with, and any car I end up detailing needs to be polished or sealed in same way after the wash process so it’s not really a product you want to apply.

Kinda curious about 2 things. If you had the wet coat for so long and it sat you may not have shaken it up enough to mix up the sio2. And secondly it bonds as a result of moisture if I’m not mistaken so the rinsing is to get the excess off and your front door looked bone dry minus a few drops so when you rinsed off the first bit of wet coat you saw all the white in the water carry it off the panel before it bonded. Then the wipe in was wet and your damp cloth made it bond better. Used it many times and it’s never happened like that. And this is a side note because I’m not 100% sure but I do believe that all the gyeon essence products contain absolutely 0 gloss boosters or colour depth additives. The whole point of the essence line is just purely to do one thing and nothing else. Their bathe essence is a prime example. So things like bathe and wet coat essence are better used on matte vehicles

@sheepstardetail 9 ай бұрын
I shake every bottle I spray for a minute off camera, just to avoid such issues. There is water on the panel, and I sprayed the product “up” to distribute it better. Regardless, you will need substantially less if you manually distribute it. As for essence, that is a high concentration product, not basic. Bathe Essence is 2000:1, and wet coat essence is a concentrate of wet coat.

@@sheepstardetail probably just put too much on then. When you do it gets high spots and has an oily feel to the panel that stops water beading and sheeting. All you have to do is completely rewash the affected panel to get rid of it and then just give it another squirt. 2 or 3 squirts will do an entire hood on most vehicles. On an f350 I needed 4. And yes I understand the essence line is concentrated. That’s the whole point of it. But it’s not the same as the regular product. It doesn’t have any additional ingredients. In bathe’s case it doesn’t have any gloss boosters or fragrance. In wet coat’s case the gloss and depth isn’t there. Sure it’ll be shiny because it levels the surface for the hydrophobic properties thanks to the si02 but it’s not as good of a product unless you have an insane paint job and coating underneath. Yves himself has said multiple times that you can not make q2m wet coat out of essence because they’re different formulas. The original wet coat is an all around better product in every way with maybe the exception of price per application litre once it’s diluted depending on your ratio. I just don’t think the test was not completely accurate based on my personal experience.

@@HennyThingProductions I don’t subscribe to the school of thought that your LSP should be contributing to your outward appearance. If you want to make paint look better, you need to polish it. I understand some LSPs have effects and various levels of fill or gloss, but if I’m not satisfied with the appearance of my paint work, I got to polish for a permanent (ish) fix. I only test filling abilities to see how much a LSP can improve *bad* paint on its own, and if it’s enough to get through a day or week befor me you have time to properly correct it. I am also not against products that fill, some vehicles have very little clear coat and as long as you can pair those fillers with an LSP that’ll let them last, it’s a great combo for a weekend warrior. Re WetCoat application, I still feel that spray and rinse in general is the least effective way to use the product. I know there is trade offs like application speed (although careful application and removal with rinsing isn’t exactly quick either), but when it comes to the end results I find it’s the most cost effective, consistent way to use the product.

I use wet coat essence over wet coat works out cheaper but I always use it on a wet panel and rinse off. Both products have no uv protection only beads water so isn't like a sealant or wax it's a hydrophbicity booster for a ceramic coating or wax was going to do this on my channel you beat me to it hsha great video 👍

Did you know that no products offer uv protection? Waxes, sealants, and coatings provide a barrier so that oxygen cant interact with uv to degrade a surface. If a product claims to provide uv resistance, they are talking about blocking oxygen so that uv doesn't harm anything.
@knightwolf200612
@knightwolf200612 8 ай бұрын
@@scottmattern482 I don't understand what UV has to do with oxygen. UV is a light in specific part of the color spectrum. UV can only be blocked with a layer that blocks that specific part of the color spectrum. That has nothing to do with oxygen. What has to do with oxygen is aging and oxydizing of the paint, like bare iron gets rust. That's caused by oxygen. In that case blocking oxygen prevents oxidizing. But blocking oxygen alone doesn't prevent color degradation due to UV light (most visible on plain non metallic red cars). These are 2 totally different things.
@scottmattern482
@scottmattern482 8 ай бұрын
@@knightwolf200612 nope, as long as you block oxygen from interacting with UV light on a surface, it won't deteriorate from UV. I am wrong? Even iron, you need oxygen for rust to form. I'm not a chemist, so you might want to learn about it from a more credible source, if you are that interested in the chemistry.

I am all about babg for buck but question is how long do these really last ether one. And depending on that you can buy a gallon of meguires xpress spray wax for 30 to 35 dollars lasts 2 or 3 weeks depending if was car least once month you will be pretty good if just using as drying aid

Interesting comparison, but can you please keep the doors CLOSED when doing this? It really doesn't make any sense to keep it open. For the matter for 'spray and wipe', means wiping with a soaked washmitt, not a dry cloth! So spray it on and spread it using a wet mitt to make sure every nanometer gets covered evenly. It can't be used dry, it's no spray wax/sealant.
@sheepstardetail
@sheepstardetail 8 ай бұрын
I JUST showed that it can, in fact, be used dry. Not sure where you’re angling from but it’s wrong. The applicator is “wetted” by the product, and as you go around the car it will build up moisture from the panels and product. As for closing the doors, that was to prevent overspray. It won’t (and can’t) damage the car.

You use less water washing a car for a year than it takes to make a set of tires. You could also argue detailing a car and keeping it in working order uses less what than buying a new car every 4 years, no matter how you slice it I’m not wasting any water. All the cars I test on are getting washed anyway, and by doing it myself it’s done properly. I started my channel to provide reviews and buying advise to others for products, minimizing how many people buy a product and throw it away if they don’t like it.
