Thanks man! Underrated song of the last century. Brilliant. I set up my chorus as more of a “doubler” to fill it out a bit. Gives the illusion of two guitars. And of course a tad of 80’s sound. Great song. RIP Michael

I always just played octaves without the open root droning, assumed it was the 2nd guitar or overdubs. Never occurred to me to do it all in one go! lolerz. Nice going with the hand drawn tab on screen btw.

Thanks Bud! (We don’t say Mate here in the States) Great lesson, I played it wrong for years, wondered why I couldn’t get it to sound like that.

Great work and very nice tone! Just be a bit careful on the last chord, it is an octave (with the D string muted) not a 5th chord. The last chord of the riff resolves to A so the notes of the chord are C# and C#, on the A and G strings, (the third in the chord of A). Ab has no place in an A chord in rock! (and we shall try to keep it that way) :-)
@SimonMorelguitar Жыл бұрын
Hey Simon, thanks for watching. I've got to say you've lost me a bit. I think you're saying the last chord of the riff is an A? Don't you mean a C#5 (2:17)? And the tune is in A major, so G#, or the maj7 (or Ab as you call it) is in key? Or maybe you are you saying the last chord is just a C# octave without the 5th (G#)? You could definitely do that, I quite like the sound myself. Anyway happy to help. I hope the lesson helped. All the best, Simon ps do subscribe for 2 new videos every week.
