s9 full frame, twice pixels, better stabilization... enough to be better of sony already
@thepan2 ай бұрын
AF performance is better in Sony. It is obvious already. BUT the current lines of Lumix S cameras focuses much better than even Fujifilm's flagship non-medium lines, and Lumix's firmware update ACTUALLY improves AF performance unlike Fujifilm. Also with that S9 pricing, it can be Panasonic's most important camera to date, as it can lead more people into the full-frame territory, at a price of a top-line APS-C cameras out there.

Concerning those IBIS-induced corner wobbles on the S9 - e-stab on standard should correct those. Not sure if that works in anamorphic though.
@wakeywarrior2 ай бұрын
1.5 x crop on 4/60 and low max recording times kill the S9. ZVE1 is actually a ‘bargain’ for what you get. If shooting in 4/60 the ZVE1 has less crop on it in dynamic than the S9 does with its stabilisation due to ridiculous friken 1.5 crop on that S9 60FPS. That clear image zoom as you say is underrated.
@markr0412 ай бұрын
1. IBIS on the ZV E1 is substantially inferior to that on the S9. It sucks. 2. The S9 shoots 6K open gate and 4K supersampled from 6K. Much more detail than the 4K of the ZV ZE1. These are very important differences. But, ZV E1 high speed video is better - 4K, no crop. Less rolling shutter.
@TvBoxHeadАй бұрын
@@markr0416k 420 open gate is a gimmick because 4k 422 has more dynamic color range than 6k 420 with a crop. Cropped frame+ 10bit 420 = less picture and color per frame than 4k 422 no crop. The s9 might as well be an apsc
@markr041Ай бұрын
@TvBoxHead "Color" dynamic range? What's that? Nobody has shown that 422 looks different than 420, and the HDR spec is 420. I provided the advantages of the zv e1;they are real and visible. Just like its disadvantages - lousy stabilization and less than 4K resolution. Almost no creators shoot clips longer than 15 minutes; that includes the most famous film directors. If you need to shoot with a camera for long takes, you need a tripod anyway, so there is no point getting a compact camera of any brand. These comments seem to come from spec inspectors not videographers. Btw, I shot a lot of videos with the zv e1. I gave up because of its inferior stabilization. And, the best advantage of open gate is in using anamorphic lenses. 422!

Dollar for Dollar that 12mp sensor in the Sony ZV-E1, Sony A7Siii and Sony FX3 STILL REIGNS SUPREME for video. I don't think Sony can even compete with themselves to come up with a movie camera sensor that is better. Those three cameras are so good I see no need to even consider the FX6 or FX9. And believe it or not, some of these dudes are saying they'd rather have a couple FX3s than an ARRI! The entire film THE CREATOR was all shot on the Sony FX3 and it was incredible enough to be shown in IMAX. In very low light (like moon light) the full frame quality of that sensor is absolutely beautiful - especially if you set your iso right. No one can convince me otherwise - The deal you are getting for full frame video with the Sony ZV-E1 is the best (especially if you add that Tilta fan cage). I couldn't possibly fathom choosing that S9 over the ZV-E1. The ZV-E1 is well worth it, the only obstacle is adding the tilta fan cage and keeping it cool for the extended run times.

Sony is still the King for video. Higher resolution is overrated and extra "sharpness" isn't cinematic. The thing is, is that Sony is still the better choice simply because the ecosystem has way more pros than any other camera manufacturer. I have shot multiple Catholic Ceremonies at 4K 24 FPS and the ZVE1 never overheated nor shown signs of overheating and the record limit was an hour and a half. That to me is so wild. I use Dynamic Active Stabilization if I want to get a handleheld shot at 85mm making it around 100mm. If you're going to walk in a straight line and expect to get some crazy good stabilization handheld, that's literally what a gimbal is for. I personally don't have a need for Open Gate.

@wheelsupbardown What's the point of compactness for use in a studio taking 30-minute clips? S9 is a high-powered compact camera for going out and shooting nimbly. That does not require clips of multiple minutes. Most creative films/videos consist of very short clips. 15-minute limits are shortcomings for only very specialized video. If that's you, fine.

@@wheelsupbardown That's my point - it's locked down video. Lock the camera in one position. No need for a compact camera for that.
