I fully agree that if you are showered with 42 million EUR the least you could do is keep your trap shut. Having said this, it's hard to deny that Malta is one Russia's main collaborators, handing out EU citizenship to anyone who pays cash, even if this means faking residency. Just like Switzerland, Malta has a long tradition of being a safehaven for criminals of all sorts. So let's talk about where Malta's budget comes from: is it really from the Maltese tax payer? Malta is a very big net receiver of EU tax money. What you call Maltese tax money is in fact money from EU countries who contribute to the EU budget. And what is Malta's contribution? Facilitating money laundering and crime.

According to the Times of Malta's article: "The rebate is part of a generous cash scheme that promises production houses up to 40% cash back if they film in Malta. The rebate breaks the record for the biggest state aid to cinema in the EU."

@@travelmaltaculture Yes, I agree it's a very generous donation. The Maltese government could have spent the money on other things. So, even if the Maltese money is in fact 50% money that comes from other EU countries, it's still a good choice to sponsor cinema. I'm not familiar with this particular movie production, but I can imagine many locals have been involved in the shooting of the movie. So, that's already some money flowing back to the Maltese. The total budget of the movie is 250 million USD (+ 100 million USD for promotion). A large chunk of that money has been invested in Malta.

I moved to Portugal after living in Malta for nine years. I've been in a flat since, for the same amount of time. I miss my hood. Settling... The friends are priceless. Kinda shocking to change scene. Home is home. Carlo accepting flacc demo tapes? kzbin.info/www/bejne/nHKtqaSKgNJ5jZosi=_Xl-x9R1b6rAuDKE People used to support wa'wen'on in the Coliseum. How did a ptoduction budget come from a ministry to that extent? I thought there was duty free just? I didnt collect my 25ish% at the end of the finacial year, featured extra.
