Id argue that conservatives want younger generations to suffer MORE than they did because it makes them feel stronger and more superior to other people. If the playing field was fair and the younger person succeeded and accomplished more, conservatives would be enraged. They don't want to accept that either they made mistakes or the other person had some advantage such as perseverance or connections that allowed them to go farther. They want to ensure NOBODY gets ahead of them at any costs.

Why would someone even post their breakdown online anyways? Wtf is wrong with people? It’s profoundly egotistical & self serving. Idk if this generation understands that you don’t need to put everything on line. In fact I would argue the very act of doing so actively fucks over the left! (Politically speaking, obviously!) It’s people like that who make themselves into a meme & the only one is listening to them are those who already agree with them! Failure to see this is exactly what will undermine progress. Progressives have already reached their peak, in fact they’re no longer making progress & have started to regress. I blame part of this on gen z far left idiots., such as, for example, people whining and crying about a hard day at work & then literally posting it on to social media like a fucking idiot. It does nothing except give those on the right easy content to make fun of. Case & point this entire video! 😂🤦🏼‍♀️

I think that their response to this would be that progressives don’t know when to stop. They’re officially regressing. Progressives, while often having ideas that came from the right place & were justified, are now instead becoming counterproductive… so much so that the term ‘progressive’ has a negative connotation. When Someone refers to you as a ‘progressive’ and it’s meant as a slur, or sarcastic… that’s just ONE of many indicators that the direction progressives are heading is not what they initially had in mind. Unfortunately trying to tell an entire group is next to impossible…. Sucks because it just provides a clear path to those who walk in the middle to be swayed to the other side, and it’s happening.

Try that shit with oh, I don't know, a police officer just trying to do their job and see how it works out. I think if you can be arrested for being disorderly because you're verbally abusing a police officer, then there should also be laws on the books to protect retail and service workers from the same kind of abuse and harassment And also, as a grow human being, I just plain don't understand how these Karens can literally sit there and scream at and abuse a freaking teenager. Over a fucking cup of coffee. Like what is wrong with people? I challenge anyone who's never done it to work even 3 months in the retail/ service industry, and see how long it takes before they feel this way, before they end up having a day where they're in the break room sobbing. Some managers will stick up for you and some won't they will just stand there silently and let the customer keep belittling you over a mistake what's worse is sometimes its not even the customer sometimes its the manager too. Mad because they had to work a double just to fix your mistake and you get blamed for half the staff calling in sick. There does need to be more protections there for retail workers especially the ones not in management because some of us are lucky to get any hours while they get to work 40 a week and there schedule is always consistent. So they do have a privlage there they just take it for granted and they all blame it on the cashier that's why I applied for a back room job because I don't like dealing with people directly they tend to pick fights a lot and there rude when they don't get what they want from you.

He's not JUST working however many hours, he's working however many hours in AWFUL, STRESSFUL, MENTALLY AND PHYSICALLY EXHAUSTING CONDITIONS. At my starbucks store, which is a very busy location with old design and setup, and good, caring managers, we can just barely keep up with the morning rushes, we all work pretty much as fast as humanly possible to keep up with all the orders constantly flowing in through drive thru, cafe, and mobile orders. If we end up short even one person? Chances are, it goes to hell. We litterally call it "drowning". And it can last for hours. We need at least 8 people on the floor to keep our head above water during rush, which is why when this guy says they only have four? Every day?? Makes my stomach sink! Yes the stuff he talks about happens time to time at this type of job- but thats not what he's taliing about! This is happening to him his entire shift, every single fucking shift. On top of being a full time student, He's dealing with his eight hours only to have his manager insist he stay longer or even come in earlier and, for some places, its not as easy as saying no. Depending on where you work, your place of work can fire you for pretty much anything including declining working when not scheduled. The manager sounds like a real piece of work. I live in Russia. In McDonalds, many managers could just force you to stay longer at your shift if they had a bad mood. Fortunately, not all managers were assholes. Many of them were also young people who were always worried about workers and always tried to help them. Unfortunately, in Russian McDonalds, being a manager gives you not so much profits and not higher wage. You're still a servant but also multitasking and with much responsibility. If any worker does something wrong, the director will always blame the manager. I heard the story from one girl who worked there for some years (she was a student and wanted some money for living). The manager she had in their point of sale was a very nice young woman who was very passionate about her job. But the workers were mostly 40-50 years old women who were very rude and liked to shout at each other in front of customers, declining their jobs. Even they didn't hestitate to insult the manager until she bringed the word about complaining to the boss, only then these women could stop. Unfortunately, the manager got fired for... Some worker stole money and the boss just blamed the poor girl for this. Middle aged women workers, no matter what they did, could easily get away with nothing but the manager was easily fired for mistake they hadn't done. And the boss would never fire them because they were inveterate and they definitely didn't want to leave their places. These women also liked to bully other young workers.

Our jobs shouldn't be at risk because we wanted to actually have a day off. This guy is in college and working. He has classes he has to pass or loose out on the money he put into having the ability to even take these classes in the first place. Yes, working literally anywhere outside of the military or adjacent (Police, fire, EMT, etc) isn't that difficult but it's still his human rights to be allowed time off and for his employer to not work him to the bone.

I was getting stuff in on time and my grades were decent. Then I got really sick like halfway through the semester cuz it's really easy for me to just get sick whenever the weather changes slightly or something. Anyway, I ended up missing a lot of in class time and instruction so I fell way behind. When I got back my anxiety was through the roof and it felt like everything was going a mile a minute. I ended up dropping out because I just couldn't take the stress and I had a panic attack. I learned the hard way that society wasn't set up for people like me to succeed in the workplace. So I decided to find happiness in things I enjoy doing and just be content with the social security I get. Why go to school if I don't really need or want to work? But I get where they're coming from. Anyone who wants to work should be able to and get fairly compensated for their time and effort.

Then, I had a medical emergency happen mid October that messed with mh mental health very badly. After missing a week of class, I started getting depressed and anxious because of the make-up work. I tried my best, but it wasn't until mid-terms and finals began popping up I began to realize I needed further help. Also I don't understand the mentality of "you chose to do this so you can't complain" like what? I know Evan obviously didn't have much of a choice because everything costs money and they need a paycheck, but even if they did choose to work there, they're not allowed to complain when customers are rude???? They didn't choose to be insulted, they chose to work at a job. You can choose something and still be annoyed about it sometimes?????? So even if they did have a choice this person's argument of "they chose to have this job so they can't complain" is stupid as hell.

My whole thing is this: people choose to work a job. But they do not choose to be Deena, insulted, screamed at, spit on, abused, etc by customers. And saying that comes with the territory in the service industry is correct, but it's also normalizing the abuse. This shit is not okay. We need laws to protect workers from customers, laws that make it a crime to harass , assault and abuse employees. That's the fucking solution here, not just "sucking it up"

So I'm 12 years older than my sister and while I grew up in poverty, the family was in a much better place financially when she was born. She's a teenager now, has worked every summer since she was 14 and still, one of her biggest insecurities is about the fact that many relatives, even our parents and older brother have repeatedly called her spoiled for having brand-name stuff, getting to travel and having much more choices when it comes to hobbies, clothes, etc. I've had my moments of envy, which I've kept to myself, but I've never understood why people want to make her feel guilty for something that's... good? I wouldn't want her to grow up like I did and while I wish things were different when I grew up, I think it's awesome. I also really don't understand the way some workplaces welcome new employees by making them do the shittiest tasks and treating them like shit, because "this was done to us when we came." Like if it sucked so much, why the fuck would you want others to go through that? I know some feel like it's a kind of retribution or justice, but it's literally making people that had nothing to do with your crappy experiences suffer? And making them hate you like you hated your older colleagues? UGH. I'd say that's peak snowflake behaviour.

It's not like I could go to job interviews on weekends or after 4pm when most schools were closed and trying to use my PTO was like pulling teeth so I just quit and started looking. Keep in mind there is a lot of red tape to go through in order to get a teaching job (fingerprinting, background checks, TB tests, etc.). I literally went through 5 job interviews a week and still couldn't find a good fit for me. I ended up giving up teaching entirely and started a training program for a data entry job but I still had to wait 3 months to start it. Honestly if it weren't for my partner paying the rent and the food stamps I was able to get after quitting I know for sure I would have ended up starving and homeless. Thankfully it all worked out in the end but if I could do it all over I would have just fought harder to use my PTO to look for another job instead of letting them walk all over me

In the US, those of us who can’t drive are limited to the very, very few jobs that we can walk to. Nothing is walking distance here, so there may genuinely only be one single job available for someone who can’t drive. In the UK, the really annoying thing is, our boomer generation (and a good part of Gen X ) had a free ride through university until 1998. Not only were there no fees they gave you a maintenance grant to live off, pay rent etc, that you didn't pay back. They could technically come out of it with no debt. While not a lavish lifestyle, it was enough for most to live off and, of course, rent was nowhere near the cost it is now. That was until 1998! So all those who went to uni before that, did so free of charge. Now in Scotland (if you lived there for a certain number of years before) uni is still free of fees, but it's no longer a maintenance grant it's a loan like the rest of the UK. I believe from a quick search that public colleges were free of fees in the US until the 60s. So again, itxs boomers who got free stuff doing the complaining. Although I'm Gen X myself, I missed out on a "free" degree by 2 years because I was too ill to go until my late 20's. I so often hear those who got a free higher education complaining that "kids nowadays want everything handed to them"...no, they just want the same opportunities that their parents/grandparents had. They want to not have crippling debt when they finish their education, and they want to be able to find a job in their chosen field after all that studying & debt without being told they need experience for an entry level job. Oh, and they want to not be miserable while slaving for a multi billion pound/dollar company. It's not too much to ask. Some countries still manage free education (Sweden for example).

I’m in my 30s and knew loads of people who worked as students. You know what I mainly remember? How many of them were near to nervous breakdowns, the ones who did have nervous breakdowns, and the fact that the local bridge had signs urging people to call helplines and not to jump. That was the norm and it was terrible. Why would you wish that on the current and future generations?

Right? Productivity continues to increase and business continue to understaff. Nowadays half-staffed almost seems like a good thing - it means finally just hired a bunch of new people so now we can get on top of our assignments. It's especially a time when they tell me I'm such a hard worker. No. You just happen to know and like me long enough to realize you couldn't work as hard me - but you're unwilling to realize that I'm no different from anyone else my age. The 1% work everyone too hard and don't pay us what we're worth.

I live in Brazil. I was only able to finish my college education because we have public universities AND a government program called PROUNI where you can use your Enem score (like the SATs) to get partial or full scholarships that the government pays for (you need to have completed highschool as a scholarship student or in a public highschool, which was my case). STILL, me and my mom got evicted in the beginning of 2016 and my public university burned down at the end of 2016, so I had to go to work to provide for me and my mom. Never have I been more stressed than when I was working 8 hours a day, 6 days a week while having classes from Monday to Friday and trying to deliver my projects to guarantee at least a passing grade so I wouldn't lose my scholarship.

I go to community college and live with my parents, who are able to provide for me. I can also afford not to work all the time, and I get to pick my own hours. And what’s fucked up is that being a part time intern will look better on my resume and help me more in the future than people who are working more hours out of necessity. I know I don’t always love my job, but it’s the only one I can have with my experience where I can still pay my bills. I live in a small town- with a neighboring slightly larger town nearby where I work at- so there’s only coffee shops, hotels, retail stores, fast food joints, and a couple of grocery stores that I could work at. Another thing I perticularly love about the "you need experience to work anywhere" thing is that I'm currently in high school and if I were to get a job I would literally exhaust myself and probably fail school. I mean, on top of having ADHD, just the fact that solely classes take up 38 hrs in my week and that's not counting the fact that I spend around 3hrs a day just getting to and from school. I pretty much spend 12 hrs every day just doing school, excluding weekends, and so getting in any time to work is impossible during the school year. And in the summer I either relax just so, you know, I don't have a mental breakdown at the ripe age of 16, or have to study more because apparently my high school doesn't understand that holidays aren't just more time to do work. I genuinely believe that the people who require experience from students have had a very different high school experience because mine has gotten to the point where certain teachers have less hours in school than I do, and the lovely polish government (because I live in Poland) not only isn't fixing this but is actively making it worse. I genuinely do not know how I'll get a job during uni, given that I want to study abroad, given that literally the only period I'll have to get experiece in poland (which again, I don't know how lovely searching for a job here will go) will be the around 1 year it will take me to get a student visa, and this summer, if I decide to work. But conservatives will still act as if we have everything handed to us on a silver platter and they had it so much harder than us /s.
