Just a few video requests Make a series where you show us three different beehives from the start ( nuc, swarm and package) then show us progress videos and change the way of beekeeping with each of them slightly for e.g flow hive for one Another idea is an extraction video from taking off the supers until jarring and even cleaning

There is a beekeeper here in German who is known to say: Bees don't heat the hive but themselves. That's why they cluster up in a ball.

i install quilt boxes and 2 inches of roof insulation...tilt the hive forward some...worked well for me..central NJ,

in poland we have -25 in a mountains and I never wrap my bee hives

Your poor bees lol I’m in Canada we wrap our hives them cold north winds blowing on the hives is not good

I know Richard prefers solid floors over winter ( i think ) and for the 1st time im thinking of doing the same but what is his reasoning and why hasn't he convinced you to do the same?

@@Cubrider If I build a new batch of floors I will probably got with the 50/50 version. he feels his are better protected from the elements but he keeps bees mostly in wooden boxes so closing the floor means the bees have to work a bit less. With an insulted roof and brood box I find the OMF is fine and there are no condensation issues

I put 3 inch top insulation and I bubble wrap the walls but I’m in Canada🇨🇦

Our hives are in a windy spot. I have insulated the roof with sheeps wool. I have also used a very thin wrap around the brood box mainly for wind protection. It's not an ideal apiary site but what I have. With both areas insulated will I prevent the water/ condensation?

@gillknight9547 along as the roof is more insulated than the walls the condensation shouldn't cause an issue. The bees are really good at sealing up the hive so it's windproof though. If you see moisture under the crown board I'd remove the wrap though
