After my husband retired, we went to AL from GA. Our area had built up in GA and we wanted to live more rural. We lived in a camper while he built our house out of sawmill lumber, we built without debt. The last several years of my husband’s liffe, he set on the front porch with a cup of coffee enjoying the view. I am grateful for my home.

My husband built our house out of wood with his two hands, and it's absolutely beautiful. This home is smaller than any other home I've lived in, and it's my absolute favorite. And a lot easier to maintain with our lifestyle. The best part was that he let me help, and I learned so much. No house note either so that money can be used on the homestead. Oh, he hates drywall, too 😂.

Good morning, Danny and Wanda 😊 As age becomes more of a factor in our lives, priorities change. Now, in our seventies, physical limitations are becoming more apparent. Thankfully, we are very healthy, but everything just takes more effort and time. I'm on my 3rd major project this year, and roofing my garage by myself is definitely a challenge. The heat index today is 104 degrees. It's just now getting light out now, and it's time to say a prayer and go sweat a lot. Praises to our Lord and savior for allowing us to do what we do. I am slowly adding Vego gardens too. Bought 2 this spring, just ordered 2 more with the Labor Day sale. I'm frugal but buy quality. I'm 68 and getting too old to replace wood raised beds every few years. Vego beds will last me till I'm really old. Amen on the preaching :-).

Your corn cobs looked like weaving spindles there for a minute! I thought you were secretly taking up making fishing nets. Thank you for your wise words and for your help along my journey. When we built mom and dad's house, the trees were cut from this property, my children and I participated in peeling them, all a labor of love. That's why I'm so tied to this place!

Im 60 and my knees are bad too. I have several health issues that limit me. Id love to have raised beds and im slowly building my beds up . I plan to have nice beds like vego but im not going to go into debt to get them . Like you said debt free is the way to go . God bless you and Wanda . Lots of love and prayers from Anna in Iowa

Same age and frustrating health issues too. I got cheaper metal beds a few each year over the years. Too hard to til now. I do make my own compost and got a 4 wheeled dump cart. Yard is too lumpy with a wheelbarrow falling with the contents 😂. Enough with that. Got a little garden scoot which I can sit and garden. Worked after surgeries.

We built a log house with all wood inside using aspen and spruce. With pecan wood cabinets. It was beautiful . Love wood .

Congrats on the building of your new home. I just built a home in the Ozarks that has wood siding. Never knew they were called a camp house. We moved into ours and they are still letting the wood breath and planning on adding the strips, stain, gutters and awnings very soon.

Hi Danny. I found a Hoof Trimmer online who services cows in Southern Scotland. I value his knowledge about hoof trimming. He has learned his trade from his father. The channel name is The Hoof GP. He has a lot of fancy equipment that is for comfort and convenience but I learned so much about cows hooves. Watch out he is addicting and we all love him. He’s teaching his young boy the trade.

Amen Danny that’s what I did I was crying with snot running begging the lord to come into me and fill me with his spirt because I couldn’t take one more step, I cried out about my addiction and how I just wanted to die if he doesn’t come and fill me and tell me where to turn for help , praise the Lord he is good always and he can move in your life like nothing else, the Lord is my savior, teacher, best friend who has never left me or deserted me and his protection is just amazing.

My whole body has been falling apart since I turned 40. 22 years of chronic pain and a big disappointment to my husband. Nothing bothers him yet, and he just doesn't understand. Oh my it sounds like what we have been going through through. We are surrounded by trees so the red oak cabinets have stayed in the old house. Only built 33 years ago. White trim this time, whole different house. We did the same no house notes, No notes good memories. Making new ones.

When i worked for a professional painter. we laid out our boards out on a large plastic tarp. We poured the stain in a sprayer. Then, took a roller on a long pole to gather any excess spray. It was much faster.
