Is it a good idea to get building and pest and then a structural report as well

Hi Al snooz It is a good idea to engage an engineer anyway if you have too much money and want to share it around as quickly as possible. If not, then I recommend listening to what your building and pest inspector says rather than what they write. An inspector can talk more frankly than they are allowed to write in their reports - and why engage a B&P inspector if you are not going to trust their opinion? The only time I think it is a good idea to have a B&P inspector and engineer attend at the same time is if you have a super-short due diligence period and you need the inspoections done almost simultaneously. Hope this helps. Matt Cornell Cornell Engineers

This reflects poorly on the engineering industry although I agree with you. There are too many engineers for hire willing to signoff off on whatever!

Hi Ryan. Absolutely, but I can see how some engineers are simply trying to write a report that helps their client. Engineers should be acting with honesty, integrity, fairness, without unjustified discrimination. An unbalanced engineer's report serves no one and leaves the engineer vulnerable to litigation. Matt
