There is nothing like "pure Hindi". It only means more "sanskritised" Hindi. If that is what one wishes to use, why not learn Sanskrit, a great literary language that will open the door to thousands of years of Spiritual wealth of India. I think Javed Akhtar is right. A language should be simple, close to one's heart and understandable. Reminds me of something I heard about Nehru, the first PM of India. He was talking to a Hindi writer who, during had written in his poem something like "Chand ki Jyotsna". Nehru asked him "What does Jyotsna mean?" and the writer said "it means chandni". Nehru quipped "why don't you just say Chand ki chandni? why make it more complicated?".

Urdu, particularly in Pakistan is also trying to do the same as Hindi has been trying to do like Sanskrit. Urdu use on purpose more and more foreign words from Arabic. Persian and Turkish words were already aplenty in it. Languages will take their own final resting place. English absorbs words from all languages. We need a body like Oxford who could release new Hindi words year after year. Rather than replacing the existing words, adding the new words are needed.

Sanskrit is a very beautiful and poetic language and Hindi and Urdu are descendants of Sanskrit. But, the current gramatical structure of Modern Hindi is more beautiful with Persian/Arabic words rather than Sanskrit words.These words fit in better. Hindi and Modern Persian words go well together. After all both are Indo Iranian languages and have same ancestor. Old Persian and Sanskrit are like sister languages. At the same time you don't need to add unnecessarily Arabic or Persian words to Urdu.Pakistanis nowadays arabise and persianise Urdu so much
