Hello Tom, I’ve been rollerblading for 25 years now and started skateboarding right when I turned 40. It’s a great experience doing both sports, just like having two kids who are different but you love them equally. After learning to ollie in both stances, I will use your tutorials to learn new tricks. You are doing a great job explaining, keep it up!🛹🔥

I just realized that the toe pointing downwards was really the driving force in doin heelflip. Since it was the first flip trick I learned. I just do it little different than most because my front foot position is in a kickflip position! Dont know maybe other skater do it too. Bro U really got great talent in observing how skateboarding works and teaching it clearly to us audiences. Thank you Tom! ❤❤ P.S. Do a Impossible Tutorial next please!

I've been able to heelflip for a while now I for sure agree with the tip about putting the pressure on your front foots toes then flicking with the toe almost in a way, But for whatever reason I find when Im leaning my weight in the backseat and backwards like heelside I'm able to pop a pretty fat heelflip but If i lean over my toes I can never keep my board level or even under me so I found that part interesting since I lean my weight so much different looking at my heelflips vs yours and my upper heel almost my ankle is the last thing touching the griptape before I flicked I noticed just interesting to me how people heelflip in different ways the pop for me is always the weirdest like I have to pop it just right

Tom been skating a long time. But never took time to really hone in on a trick to make it so consistent except my kickflips. Which Im probably the best at between everyone I skate with. Im 39 and still ripping. However I have a ton of tricks I can do...sometimes. So started really trying to get better..so late in game. Ah its fine I have fun. I will say your vids are the most informative I have seen. More detailed about exactly what you are doing with flicks and pops and foot placement. So thanks for that. I will say I have one suggestion that I think is good for your vids. Which is at end when you are doing a few stick in one actual street skating of said trick. Like down a set or a hip/pyramid. So not just on flat. Shows that your trick tips really do go everywhere not just parking lot sessions. Just a sugestion. Your channel do what you want.

Thank you for the kind words, and great suggestion! Sometimes it's hard for us to make the time to get out and film these tricks elsewhere, but actually, I do usually include a street clip of mine in the beginning of my vids that shows me doing the trick I'm teaching. This tutorial included! Watch the intro to this if you haven't already.

45° angle pressure distribution. Keep the front foot stiff as can be, and the back foot springy as possible. Back foot stays flat, but pops hard and slightly backwards. Flick slow and steady with the front foot stiff while hitting the front flip corner side of the nose area. Flick straight out and not to the side. The higher you jump, the higher your heelflip will carry. To see the master of this trick, (and how they should be done) watch Lindsey Robertson’s zero part.

When I lean forward over my toes the board goes behind me and I go in front of it. I'm trying to relearn them I've always done them with my heel and jumped backwards.
@toms_tutorials Жыл бұрын
It’s always dependent upon the individual, and since skateboarding is so specific and our bodies are so different, adjustments will always have to be made to cater to the way you skate. For me, it has really helped me to not lean over the heel side of my board because it helps me prevent my board from rocketing, but if you’re jumping in front of your board too much I totally agree that you should lean more over your heels than you currently are.

@toms_tutorials2 жыл бұрын
Hmm, I would try still putting weight down on your toes, but not letting your torso lean over as far. That may be what's causing your board to go behind you.

I been watching this. I still don't understand how you can put hella weight over your front foot. How do you pop ? Or is it a tender toder motion. How does putting weight over that front foot make a difference? Obviously you know but it ain't clicking I guess. I'll get it but seems like every one confuses me on this trick. Help!
@toms_tutorials Жыл бұрын
You still put more weight on your back foot which enables you to pop, but putting more weight down on my front foot for heelflips helps me put a ton of pressure down on that edge so that my foot flicks properly. It's hard to even say why, but I notice I do it on heelflip tricks but not kickflip tricks. For most kickflip tricks I put most of my weight on my back foot. We're all different though and with skateboarding you always have to take different tips into account and experiment to find what works best for you.

I have to say, no offense, but I believe every key point in this video is wrong. Flicking with your toe is simply not how this trick is done. This video spreads the "flick with your toe" theory without properly explaining this is ultra niche. Also leaning on your toes is one of the major issues with heelflips for many people, as you can see in many tutorials. The fact that he advises to lean on your toes without further clarification is crazy! And I can say pretty much the same thing about leaning forward, in a minor way. Tom, you seem to be a great guy, but this tutorial is a no-no for me...
