One of my favorite Edison Blue Amberol cylinders to play around the Holidays is #3796 "Don't Forget The Salvation Army" from 1919 by Arthur Fields and chorus (with Billy Murray!). Interestingly, the master used for this pressing includes an interesting and unusual anomaly. If you listen to the very beginning of the cylinder you can clearly hear the Edison recording engineer lower the studio recording assembly onto the blank master for a few seconds and then lift it for a few seconds yielding silence and then lower the recording assembly again for the actual recording. It's very unusual for this to have been transferred to this copy of the recording. Thanks for stopping in for a visit and I hope that you enjoy the video.
