Like I said, this bucket was around $4 at TSC, the Walmart grill bucket was $6.

I've got two identical tractor supply buckets. If you don't empty them nightly, they rust QUICK

I really liked that little vessel you had on there originally. Could you have loosened the coils of steel a tiny bit and then drove a couple fence staples into the block? (or some kind of forged staple--like fastener) Easily removable and the bucket bail isn't in the way of larger hot things going into the quench. Just throwin' it out there....

Yes, however I also was wanting to not have a permanent fixture on the side of my stump. With it on there it limited how I load it in my truck when going portable. That and this will be easily moved to the other end of the stump.

@@bc65925 Bill, the idea of staples was so the rod could just slip through and set in there. And then be pulled off and moved to the other end. I'd FIND a way to hit that bail every time.

Sorta related... Something I thought of asking you is whether the anvil, being so cold during the winter, sucks the heat out of the work piece? Seems like it would cool it down kinda fast while you try to work it.

Yes it do, makes some things quite a task. Sometimes I'll heat up a big piece of steel and set it on the anvil to warm it up.
