Great Video as always, I order with just eat as the delivery charge is normally pretty low compared to Uber and deliveroo , not really the price of the food so maybe if they done something about delivery charge or just on all platforms pay the delivery drivers the same but good enough. Been a delivery rider for about 11 months now, just on a lightweight push Bike. People often ask how much I make and for me it’s anywhere between £7-£12ph. No two days are the same, as I can do a 1.35 multiplier but have lots of requests, with short pick up times and drop off distances. But even when I get a 1.7+ multiplier on Stuart on a busy weekend, if it’s 25+ mins between requests or if it’s 20+ min wait at the restaurant, I’m barely going to break minimum wage.
@GigHustle
@GigHustle 2 жыл бұрын
This is a pretty accurate overview. I think it all averages out to minimum wage nowadays. During the pandemic I was making around £11-15 per hour on average...not anymore!

I noticed that in all of your videos the staff have to ask you to accept the order, is there a reason why you wait to accept it until the last minute?
@GigHustle
@GigHustle Жыл бұрын
I only accept the order when it's given to me, never before because it will be a headache if for some reason you can't take the order. I prefer to press "collected order" when I'm on my way out of the restaurant as it's more efficient then trying to do it when they give me the order or when I'm putting it in my bag. They do this so that drivers don't steal the orders but mostly so they don't take orders from other apps at the same time. So I see why they do it because not all drivers/riders are honest.

I'm thinking of doing deliveries right now. I've been watching your vlogs and find them interesting. I have an ebike however I'm a little overweight and age 58 so not in great shape but need a purpose to go and ride. I work part time now so doing my own hours sounds really good. I'm guessing the way the world is at the moment it's probably not the best time to start, however I'm not needing it as a major income but just to help top up my wages a little. I'm in Telford and just need to find how it would work in my area. Any advice would be great.
@GigHustle

I would say go for it. It will make you extra income and keep you fit. I have a feeling food delivery may actually be a dark horse in an economically turbulent time. I would apply right now because it can take time to get your accounts activated.

if you reject too many orders does this effect the number of items you get offered. if every one picks the good who will end up with the bad ones do the bad orders get there pay increased over time to make them better. I bet that man begging earns more an hour with less effort
@GigHustle
@GigHustle Жыл бұрын
It doesn't affect the number of orders you get sent. In the US some platforms do pay attention to order rejections and limit you but not in the UK. On Uber orders keep increasing in value when they get rejected but not on other platforms.
@jimmyriddle4159
@jimmyriddle4159 2 жыл бұрын
Does deliveroo penslise riders for doing a lot of rejections? I know their algorithm is complicated. But if there are two riders waiting and one has a history of rejections, you would think it would only make sense for them to offer the order to the rider who accepts everything. IDK
@blinquedu2
@blinquedu2 2 жыл бұрын
definitely. they say you're free to reject how many times you want but the part they hide from us is when you reject an order the algorithm resets your clock it means you should wait for new orders come through to be assigned again. after that there're few steps they consider before assign you an order as -number of deliveries you've done during the day, complaints from costumers, complaints from deliveroo kitchens associates, type of vehicle you are, how many rejections you've got etc etc etc, if there's no one "better" than you nearby you'll receive that order, if not, they reset your clock again and you should wait longer
@GigHustle
@GigHustle 2 жыл бұрын
I'm not sure. I haven't noticed them penalising me for rejecting orders... It makes sense to pick the riders who are the best in terms of acceptance, speed, service etc...they just don't communicate this to us.
