Bank deregulation could lead to being over leveraged and a financial industry collapse like in 2008. Deregulation of safety precautions in manufacturing can lead to more injuries and lawsuits. So far a reduction in corporate taxes have more often than not resulted in stock buy backs. If all of this happens do we still expect stock price growth?
@mkcraycray13164 күн бұрын
Trickle down economics havent worked over the last 50 years. Deregulation most often ends with less protections for the people and the environment and corporations making more profit for stock buy backs and ceo bonuses. Bank Deregulation has crashed the economy.

I love you guys! As a lifelong entrepreneur, I have to disagree with some of what you say. While most people think of corporate tax breaks as the ultra large corporations, 99.9% of corporations in America are small businesses. They also provide half of all private sector jobs. So, the 'trickle down' that you speak of is mostly between small business owners reinvesting in their business and giving employees wage increases (as we saw, and I did, during the 1st Trump tax cuts). For investing, I'd be looking at more small/med cap businesses, especially with MIA products. Service industries will also benefit, as well as mutual funds in tech, financials, and energy.

I would pay off all consumer debt first, build an emergency fund and put the rest into the S&P 500 in that order. There's no way to time the market but if you hold for long enough you'll be fine.

There's more to investing than the US stock market. I would rather buy into an international ETF, either stocks or some type of asset allocation ETF (which type depends on your age and investing horizon, purpose, duration, etc). Just stay invested and rebalance every 1-2 years, forget about trying to time the markets. Keep some emergency funds available to cover your expenses for about 6 months.

One big consideration is the fact that much of what Trump is planning to do eg Tariffs, are inflationary I.e prices will go up and it’s likely that the fed will be forced to increase interest rate..again.
@ProjectFrugal4 күн бұрын
"Some" prices will go up for certain items. At the end of the day you can't import your way to wealth. Ideally your country needs to have a trade surplus in order to prosper especially with the mountain of debt the US has accumulated.

No it won't. Think carefully about what causes inflation and why this won't happen and even if it did, raising interest rates will do nothing to higher prices caused by taxes or tariffs.

In reality, instead of guessing, why not check what happened with the stock market in his first 4 years? Politics with business is a bad marriage. If this hold and the stock of companies that use foreign prime materials is going to go down, that means is time to buy them like there is no tomorrow. Foreign companies do not get affected by a tariff increase, because ultimately the tariff increases get paid by the consumer. On top of that, even with the price increases in tariffs, manufacture in the USA is gone and that is not coming back due to the high cost of labor, which does not has anything to do with tariffs. All serious financial and economy experts have proven that. The outgoing administration did not reduce the Trump tariffs.

If you're at the beginning, meaning that you're probably young, forget about dividends (and 30% return? I don't think such a dividend exists), you don't need the income now. Go for growth, not dividends. With dividends you just end up paying tax every year for income that you don't need at this point.

The best advise I have learned from the two of you is ➡ investing for the long term. I believe many people jump around and if someone is leader they do not like they want to packup and leave our country. We can leave at any time regardless of who is in office. I made money during Obama's 2nd term; Trump's 1st term and even under Biden. How??? Investing for the long term. Stock market always go up and down. I do not look at my investments everyday. I live my life and when I have extra money to invest then I invest. I took your stock market course...great course. My advise to those who want to leave our country because they apparently do not care for a certain person to lead them...do a through investingation of which ever country you plan on living in. Remember that people from all over the world come to our country through the back door because of the negative things happenning in their home country.

Bro, you've been drinking the Democrat talking points. If it was tax breaks for the rich to buy votes then it would've have garnered many votes at all. Taxing is exactly what left-wing governments do to fund their social ideology. It happened it New Zealand and our previous socialist government borrowed billions. They got kicked out and now the new government has had to cut wasteful government spending to order to help balance the books. There's only so much money to pay for things at the end of the day. Increase productivity and output and you're halfway there.

Most financial changes have a lagging effect. The first years of Trump’s presidency we were experiencing the effects of the Obama economy because he got us out of the Great Recession in 2009. If you’re old enough to remember those times we were teetering on the edge. The other thing is that Trump imposed tariffs on China back in 2017 as I mentioned these changes are what they call lagging indicators so you don’t feel the real effect of them until later so things became more expensive overtime then we got hit with Covid and this was handled very poorly by Trump, he had dismantled the pandemic response team that was put in place during the Obama era . More than 1 million Americans died as a result. A lot of people like to argue that gas prices were cheaper during Trump. Well, they were cheaper during the pandemic due to supply and demand. There was less demand because of Covid nobody was going anywhere so that’s gonna make the price is cheaper. I think the education system in America needs to do a better job of teaching people economics because this election cycle exposed the Achilles heel that is lack of quality education in America.
