@@Lakecenterlawncare I have the mid torque myself and work on vehicles for a living. What I noticed is that if the battery is not 100% it will struggle with removing stubborn fasteners. Suspension bolts are hit or miss. If you can get it on the fastener with the shortest socket possible, it will crack it loose after some effort. Brake caliper bracket bolts are a no if you have to use an extension or universal socket/adaptor. Or if the manufacturer uses loctite. What I also noticed was whenever I got a vehicle in where a hulk overtightened the lug nuts (happens 4-10 cars) I have to end up reaching for my big boy impact anyway. So basically, I bought it and barely use it because I end up using my HT 1/2 for most scenarios.

@@scottbulach it depends a lot on the type of work you are doing. A heavy equipment mechanic may have more of a need for the high-torque model. If you work in a tire shop and are handling the tool all day for lighter applications, the mid-torque is more appropriate. For the average home mechanic who is not rebuilding engines and removing crank bolts, etc. and is mostly rotating tires or changing brake pads, the mid-torque is more than sufficient.

Have you ever worked on a vehicle? You hardly ever need the power of a full size high torque impact. And you’re dealing with constrained spaces, that don’t require a lot of breakaway torque. This is where those compact and mid torque comes in. A well equipped person has more than one impact. Personally I have 3 different sized ones. And I use the smallest one the most often.

A lot of our work is heavy equipment and semi trucks, so the 2767-20 works great for us. We have used it for smaller vehicles as well for suspension parts etc. We run it on setting 2 when tightening bolts and are careful to not over tighten. We agree the mid torque is more ideal for auto techs who work on cars/SUVs. If we had to choose only one we would go the 2767-20 as it really covers all your bases. Having both the mid torque and high torque would be ideal, but most guys just buy one.

Fabrication Guy You’re right there on point though, first Milwaukee impact I ever bought is the M18 1/2” 2767-20 the power it has is “Scary” for someone who got his first experience with high torque battery operated impact wrenches, tool is stunning in every aspects all ways around! They say: every tool has its own pros & cons, well, I tried this 2767-20 and I couldn’t figure something bad in it, the design, the built, size & torque wise, everything is really good in it. they say it’s huge and bulky! Well, for a high torque impact (the highest torque actually for 1/2” impacts out there) its the most compact sized tool, moreover I’ve got the M18 1/2” Mid-Torque 2861-20 impact with 1.5ah battery (used & in very good condition) for only $60, few days ago, I’ve checked a listing on FB for the same 2861-22CT it’s a kit, tool, 2 batteries 1.5ah & 4ah batteries, charger and case like new condition for just $180! With this price, I couldn’t help to ignore it just cuz I had the same one lol, I really like the 2861-20 as well, and I does has the right amount of torque needed for right application, I use’m on my sedan, SUV, & minivan, the mid torque works there just pretty well, also has 3- torque/speed settings which offers the impact tool a good range of applications to get the work done, from heavy duty to simple tasks! It comes handy and indeed very reliable impact.

Got the 2663 5 years ago for 100 dollars new bare tool and still using it now. Good enough for tire rotation and some around the house work. Just added Milwaukee m12 stubby for 90 dollars bare tool. I am happy with the choice I made.

@@gsc2866 Absolutely correct. I have the same tool as you. Different model number here in Australia but identical tool. I bought mine 10 years ago when the FUEL Brushless models were just being released. It was the latest model then. This clown would have you believe that they’re all current models. When I bought mine, Milwaukee’s 450 ftlb was the most powerful impact wrench on the market. Another thing. We can’t purchase the older versions as they haven’t been available for many years. I got mine close to the end of their run.

I absolutely agree with you! I work on vehicles and smaller equipment and just started looking at the M18 Impacts. After a few hours of searching through all the info, I came to the conclusion that the 2767 was the best choice. While looking for the best price, I found a kit. I'm going with the 2767-22GG! It has the 2767 impact, grease gun, 2 batteries, charger and carrying case. This is my 1st Milwaukee purchase and need the batteries anyways. The grease gun just happens to be a bonus! Right on. I got the 2767 first and then got the 1/2" stubby. The stubby does 95% of what I need in a lightweight package but when I need the power, it's nice to have the big boy. I've heard of the mid torque failing to remove fasteners too often. The IR 7152 does seem to have the 2767 beat from the reviews I've seen though.

Just to clarify another difference between the pin vs friction ring that's rarely mentioned ... torques are lower on the pin type models as they are a tad weaker than their friction ring counterparts. The pin requires a small hole in the anvil to fit the tension spring & pin assembly while the friction ring anvil is one solid unit. That's why Milwaukee dialed the torques back a bit on the pin models, it was to protect against anvil breakage. Pin anvils are preferred in applications where the socket is rarely changed and desired torque values are within the design limits of the tool such as in a production line setting. There's nothing wrong with pin type anvils, just be mindful of the application before purchase.

Your video is the one that’s misleading. First off, each one of them have their own purpose. If you’re a mechanic and only working on cars and SUV mostly, majority will prefer the 2860 and since it’s a whole lot lighter, more compact that the 2767 and can breakaway 95% of anything in the vehicle that requires it. This video is very biased not an actual review.

I agree the 2860 can be a great impact if you only work on cars and weight and fatigue is an issue. However the majority of people buying these impacts are using them as general impacts to replace their pneumatic impacts for all types of projects. With the adjustable torque setting presets that each model offers, getting the 2767 and adjusting it down to the right torque setting for their application would be best for most users. This would allow them to still have the high torque capacity if they need it and not have to bust out an air compressor.

Ehh, if you’re doing timing chains or belts you’ll want the big daddy. I’ve even got weighted crank sockets to help with that. I only use my 1/2 impact gun for wheels and crank pulley bolts. Everything else i use a 3/8 impact. This video helped me cause I wanted the correct impact that is the strongest. The strongest Milwaukee impact blows away every other cordless impact I’ve ever had or used. I’ve had all gens of snap on, nicad and lithium ion. I’ve had Mac, I’ve used Matco. None come close to the 2767 as far as breaking things loose.

I absolutely agree the mid talk for most people for 90% of jobs is definitely the way to go more compact and enough for most people. Second Tool I would get would be the high impact 1/2”.

As a DIY’er on my small fleet of used vehicles here in Michigan, I finally sprung for an impact. I thought I did my research and felt the M12 stubby would be all I needed. Imagine my disappointment the first time I used it to break a lug nut. I had to use the ‘ole breaker bar with my new impact laying next to me on the driveway. Now… that was a wheel I never took off before. When I use it on a wheel that I put on, meaning it is torqued properly with anti seize on the threads, it does work. It just takes a few seconds to get moving. I still don.t like it. I want them lugs to zip off like I’m working a NASCAR pit stop. I also found that axle nuts to the wheel bearings are also a chore to remove with this gun AND the nuts on the struts to the steering knuckle. I will keep that stubby, but I want the 2767 because I can’t imagine thinking, “Darn, this works too good.” I do not tighten anything with impacts, so over torquing will never be an issue for me.

I think the mid torque is perfect for 99% of DIY people. The high torque is far too powerful, bulky, and heavy for most people unless they work with heavy machinery like agriculture, airplanes, etc...

Honestly I would buy the 2863, which is the same as the 2767, but has One-key as well. One-key looks like a gimick but it actually gives you a ton of control over the tool, and with some playing around you can really dial it in for different applications. Then pick up one of the stubby impacts for tight spaces. The 1/2 has, depending on what 220 means, more breakaway torque then the 2755 @ 250ft-lbs in the 1/2 drive. These 2 will do everything you need to on a vehicle.

Good info here, the line-up is confusing buyer beware. The 2755 has 220 ft-lbs of fastening torque but is still only for lighter jobs. I have the Gen 2 High Torque you recommend (2767) with friction ring anvil it is nice, just started using it. I noticed at least on mine that when you move if from upright to 90° working position there seems to be slight motor movement about 1/8" if I were to guess, none of my other Milwaukee impact wrenches have that internal movement.

I have the Gen 3 M18 fuel 1/2 inch high torque. That thing is potent be careful or you will overtighten your tire lugs. As for compact impact wrenches, consider an M12 3/8 stubby which I have is great for tight spaces and it is amazing.

I have the 2767. Do road side assist. Have only had two lug nuts that it wouldn’t take off. What I’m interested in the the torque specs of #1, #2,and #3 button settings. Had a customer complaint saying I over torqued it and the next shop snapped a lug and couldn’t remove two. I was super careful and double checked with a bar that they where snug. Had it on #3 and stop when it makes noise.

I can appreciate the sentiment here. The 2663/2662 are Heavy and outdated models that either need discontinued or drastically lowered in price to continue to exist. The 2763 is still a good impact if the price reflects the older technology, I can appreciate you pointing out this model aswell. BUT.......Your complete dismissal of the 2755b & the 2860 is a bit over the top. Every one of these Models has a place and purpose. Personally I skipped the compact in favor of a 3/8 & 1/2 version of the m12 stubby because I am also in that battery platform, but the m18 compact is in my fathers tool box because he is m18 only and it’s necessary to have a small impact. I also have both the 2763 & 2767 high torques because I once had the same mindset as you..........before I actually tried a mid torque. I decided to try the mid torque because I was tired of ruining fasteners with the overkill power of the high torques. The mid torque is now my “go-to”. It does 99% of what a average person needs one to do and is literally half the size/bulk of any of the high torque models. I wouldn’t give up my high torque, as I do still need it from time to time, but now I wish I would have discovered the mid first and then I would have bought a 3/4 and skipped the 1/2 high torque. I understand, I used to have the same line of thinking you do, and both the 2763&2767 are great, but you gotta tell all the facts or you’re just misleading your viewers.

I do know that the 2860-20 is almost half the size of the 2767 (excluding the handle), I own both but use the 2860 90% of the time, the 2767 is the last resort, but I have it when I need it.

I bought the 2767-21b. Not sure why its a -21b instead of -20. Maybe its the most current model? Anyone know? I figured it out, 21b is for the kit that comes with a 5 ah battery and charger with case. Same inpact as the 2767-20.

I'm a mechanic and have the 3/8 stubby impact, high torque, and mid torque and many more impacts, but I use the mid torque most of the times. Maybe what you're trying to say is if people only have one option they should go with the high torque.

i have a 2864-20 3/4 M18 and.... i broke my CV axle with it ( im going to assume there was a hair line fracture or a severe stress crack in the CV ) and yes i was trying to loosen the nut not tighten it lol was looking for a mid version and the 2767-20 i barrowed from a friend looks the some in every damn way except the anvil! i broke down BOTH impacts and they are exactly the same across the board except the anvil size 2767 is a 1/2 inch and the 2864 is a 3/4 thats the only diff we could find... so with this said the 2767 is the #1 choice when it comes to power fo socket size!

Hi. The choice is even more difficult if you life in EU. I leave in UK and can't find model 2767-20 (is available only in amazon) but after researching i discover europian version 2767-20 is ONEFHIWF12-502X . 1356NM max fastening torque and 1898NM nut busting torque after conversion NM to FT-LBS we have 2767-20 specification. Bu why they do this?

I've got the 2762 which is probably a mid torque model, but five years ago I was under the impression that it was the top dog. I've been underwhelmed with its power. I only use it to change snow/summer tires twice a year for three vehicles..............so 24 tires a year. I often need to loosen the lug nuts with a bar before using the Milwaukee. I don't know if that's normal, or my gun is a little weak. Either way, it's definitely not the 1400 ft/lbs I now long for.

Update. Shortly after my last comment I realized that the slow speed setting is also a low torque setting. Once I switched to the high RPM mode I had plenty of torque. I was going to update my comment but couldn’t remember the video.

I bought the 2662-20 and did not use it for a long time and the first time I used it to take wheel lugs nuts out on my Corolla the tool stopped working( motor runs but end socket does not turn). I called customer support and they said they will charge me as much as buying the tool new if not more considering I have to pay shipping charges as the tool is outside warranty. Today I took the tool apparent and found 4 1/4” ball completely broken in half and this why the motor runs but not the socket end. I think this is by design if you try yo remove nuts that is beyond torque capability. So I don’t recommend any of these tools because they break if the nut is stuck due to rust or whatever. Also Milwaukee customer support was a waste of time and insisted that their tools don’t break under these conditions. Absolute lie and never again will I by or recommend to anyone to buy these electric torque tools especially if repair costs more than the purchase price. Last these tools have strong spring inside which you have to compress to put the tool back inside the plastic housing and it took hours to figure out a way to put the tool together.

Well this didn’t age well…. Your top pick ended up being pulled off the shelves a couple month ago. Lucky for me I waited until the “B” version was released and Milwaukee packaged a battery and bag with it for a great price.

My 2663-20 bust loose bolts that would normally require a 4' breaker bar. BUT it's powered by the M18 HD9.0 battery. My only complaint is the run on after the trigger is released.

I got a 2663-20 with a 3/8 ratchet for 400 cad, cant lie got a great deal, thought Milwaukee was standard brushless but guess i know what the next half inch will be, although the 2663-20 is great for the cars i do

The difference is the price lol. I have the 2662 I bought like almost 2 years ago with 2 battery's, charger in the blow mold case and I only paid 330$ on Amazon which was a killer deal it was brand new to. There like almost 400$ everywhere else still. But the fuel one is prob like 500$ at least with the same style kit with the 2 batteries, charger in the blow mold case.

I used to get the pneumatic drill to get the nuts the cordless couldn't get, now I use the cordless to do what the pneumatic cant...in fact, I only use cordless now.

But if you pick up the old gen high torque 2762 for only $60 vs the 2767 for $380 CAD do I really want the new one? Or am I happy with the older one =P

Upgraded from an older 18v kit. kzbin.infoUgkxW1vOBRCMrgTCDEijzpVzDWsgI-Jm2iQv I independently chose the drill and impact tool, before I came across the kit.I like the 3 speed impact gun. It seems more powerful than my older one, and it can be set to be really gentle. The drill is more appropriately sized for my use. I used to have a hammer drill, but I did not like that it was so big and it was not a great hammer drill. I rather have a smaller drill like this, and then get a corded hammer drill for the odd case I need that.

The mid torque is plenty good. Still light enough to do all the work. The high toque is heavy and especially if you do work all day.

Until the battery of the 2767-20 loosens up and when you go to tighten the vibrations cause power loss I know I own one never been dropped it’s about 4 months old now the 4ah battery is just too heavy for it to be securely attached to the tool and to draw power reliably I have since stuck a piece of foam between them to tighten it up but it still disconnects somehow and loses power on me

I currently see the 2863-20 being promoted. How does it compare to the 2767-20? Initial specs, they look the same , is it the same tool? Is it simply the successor to the 2767-20?

The 2860-20 is the smallest in size for the 650 breaking. And if your working on cars and small trucks its really all you need. One of them and the right angle impact that does 220 break away. Would be all you need for automotive.

I just bought the 2663 - 20 the very 1st one you said to stay away from. I only got it for a 100 bucks brand new.

450ft lbs of torque is a lot. Almost one one would need more than that. To get that amount of torque by hand you'd need a 30" breaker bar and a workout.

This guy has no idea what he is talking about for the price and what you get is a good deal I got the same thing I got it as a kit with ratchet batteries and charger and bag for 200 bucks no one needs the 600 dollar high impact unless you working on big machines daily the best overall impact for a daily mechanic that does this for a living is the 2860 for the guy who works on his own cars as a project and a hobby the first 3 will do just fine

I have 2755b-20 (the compact one) and for working on cars it's all you really need, I've removed my crank pulley bolt with it no problem(keep in mind I have a subaru so I dont know about other crank bolts), however I dont doubt if you're looking for something for a different application it wouldnt work as well

I recently had to undo some huge bolts when replacing some floodlights 20 meters high and i can tell you now id rather have the best impact gun to undo those as i want to quickly blast them bolts off and put them back on asap rather than waste time with a smaller impact gun.. the guns weight is not noticeable at all even at heights. I also use the 12ah battery on this as well and its still light considering how much power the gun has

ive got the mac version of the 1/2 electric impact, i'm actually trying to sell it to buy the milwuakee 1/2 that way I can use the dual charger seeing how my main electric tools are m12.
