Nice explanation! I also feel like my thoughts start racing sometimes when I dissociate from an emotion or feeling. It is as if something in me decides "no we're not going there', and then instead the attention stays on thoughts that might or not be related to to the feeling. It can take some time to become aware of this process, but then when I do find the awareness and concentration to bring my attention to the feelings, I often find the thought process also calms down.

Sorry for the late reply. The distortions and sometimes feelings we feel preceed thought and just like you ention if you focus your awareness on that feeling and letting go of it and doing what I work with which is to feel enjoyment and apreciation of your life experience then the thoughts usually settle down just like you mention.
