I recognised the tea cupboard thing from my grandma. When she and grandpa at nearly 90 had to go into long term care (sad day) dad found 28 POUNDS of PG tips in various hides holes around the house. Grandpa had been an Air raid warden and grandma was in the Women’s Voluntary service. Their house in Bristol was an emergency place of refuge for people who had just been bombed out. Dad says a family lived in every room awaiting being rehomed. Grandma ran the kitchen. People were given a mug of tea and a dish of stew when they arrived, covered in dust. Grandmas stock, pot was legendary in the family. It was never emptied, just boiled up for ten minutes every day. She never put onions or,potatoes in it, and now and then chucked in a kidney,or two. She and many others, included my mum, never lost the habit of stocking up I suppose.

You're absolutely right Gaynor. A lot of creative people have these highs and lows, and its no wonder when we take a look at how our minds are working. If you start something new and dont get it straight away, telling yourself or feeling you've failed, when it's the opposite. But if you start something new and hit the ground running, we find ourselves setting a bar so high, we are nearly always bound to fall short. In my creative life, even knowing this, it still is the same. But it is important to know that about ourselves, to at least keep it in check, as the lows can be very low, even to the point of stopping it all. I dont know who said it, but it goes along the lines of: show me a man (someone) who never made a mistake, and ill show you a man (someone) who never made anything. All the best, great video.

Your pear t-shirt turned out lovely! This was a really good video about embracing play as part of the creative process, and letting "accidents" (like the black blob of Posca pen) take you to new discoveries. You are like therapy for artists! 🙂

I found your channel randomly two weeks ago and am now binge watching. I LOVED this video. I too work with 3 to 12 projects going and a sketchbook on the table so I can write ideas as they pop into my head! I’m a total beginner but always experimenting and trying. Some days I have art and some days I have mud but both days I’ve had fun. Lovely to hear someone voice those things. Really liked your pear tee. TFS

Love your Tshirt! Just going back through some of your older videos, so glad I did. I’m going to try some charcoal drawing WITH acrylic added… I will take your very good advice and not expect a finished piece right away. I will give myself permission to ‘fail’ while enjoying every moment! Thanks Gaynor‼️❤️🎨

I am always playing and working on several pieces at a time. That is my go to solution especially when I get stuck on a piece. Put it down for awhile and go to something else. That either sparks another idea to help me get unstuck or when I go back to the piece it looks different to me so that I am able to continue on with it. It does not matter to me if that process takes a few days or several months. I have figured out that this is how I am growing and learning in my pieces. And so I accept fully this process. No longer do I get frustrated or impatient. I know this is how my brain works, I know this is how I am learning. All so very exciting for me! Thank you for sharing your experiences! I really enjoy your videos, love your style! ❤️

I identify and agree with all of what you said :) I've been a visual artist, sculpting and painting all my life. And when I was doing other work, I really felt like I was losing time from my real "work" of creativity. But like you say, gotta be realistic. And it needs to be fun during the experimenting phase. That's always the phase, for me, somehow. If I get a nice series going, it starts to get boring fairly quickly. Oh well, the fun is in discovery. And I have to manage that little voice that still wants to say, Oh no, this mess is a disaster, when it's really so often, an opportunity!! My apologies for blathering on so long. But your average person doesn't have this sort of thing going on so much :)

Hello Robert, great to read your message, so no apology needed ! It amazes me that how ever many times I've had to put creativity on hold, it's patiently waiting to explode 😊Thank you for taking the time to share😊

I come from coffee drinking parents, and love my special mugs, but get what you're saying. Up to now, I'd never heard of working on many projects at a time! I've always pushed myself to finish something, even if I hated it. - And at the same time, would try and live by the code 'paint with joy!'..... Go figure... 🙄 Oh! - And I've also been expecting to be no less than an expert, the moment I learn something, whether it be on the piano or art, my whole life!!! - Learn a piece, and expect to be a concert pianist. Learn to paint, become a master artist! Anything less is failure. No pressure..... Why do we do this to ourselves! This whole concept of 'play' is just so foreign to me, but I know I'm going to become addicted.....

Delightful! I love your cards! I also understand the problem of space dwindling down to the point where I cannot do anything. Sigh. Sometimes I just need a container for the loose stuff that spreads out, but that doesn't always make a difference. I do love a lot of space to work in but mine always disappears.

Hello, I like your videos....Also, you behave naturally and it is a good thing. After that I liked your sweater ( colourful : ) ). You said your ideas about art , you felt unsuccessful. This situation is normal. Anyway, Art is difficult because Artists want to create something but it is not easy. Art wants to be patient for any artist. Therefore, you should be patient and should work but you should learn by having fun before you wear yourself out. I think so.....✌✌👍👍
