I learned from my failures... I'm very rural and rarely go to the store. I lean towards golden bantam corn and a small blacktail mountain watermelon from saved seed.

I grew up on a farm, my Mother always had us planting Silver Queen corn. Delish! I received an incorrect order, which has corn in it. I may give it a go this year in my teeny back garden. HEY- what was the April Fools joke this year? Last year I believed your corn video. God Bless y'all!!!

I've got six more rows of drip tape to install, and then I can plant my sweet corn. This year, I'm planting Incredible, mainly because it did really well the last time I planted it. I've got two friends who bring me venison - I'm hoping for enough to gift them some sweet corn when it's ready, as well as enough put up to last until next June!

You have been "picking" on corn for a while and Thank You as we are learning so much. We are about 2-3 weeks behind in our garden LOTS of plants inside ready to go outside and the wind will not let up. Wind all day at 30-40mph and gusts up to 70mph. It strips the leaves off most everything pretty quick. Hoping after the first of May and planting some Stowell's Evergreen Sweet Corn. Things go good we might even attempt canning it!

With drip irrigation and extra nitrogen and fertilizer using the Hoss injector I grew 4 plots of corn each about 3 weeks apart spaced at 18 inch rows and 6 inches apart. Each plot is about 12 x 14 feet. It wasn't the tallest corn I've ever seen but the ears were good size and it tasted great. My garden space is limited so I had to go for it. I grew Argent, Devotion, Ambrosia and Obsession. They were all good. I sprayed them about every 4-5 days after they started tasseling or whenever I saw anything that looks suspicious. I also Florida weave starting about about 2-3 feet tall then again at around 4 feet. It's down right heartbreaking to go out after a hard rain and wind to find my corn laying on the ground.

I am fortunate enough to have my garden completely surrounded by cattle panels that are 7' tall because I got out of cattle business but still kept gardening so I repurposed them to keep the deer out. As the corn gets taller I just move my sprinkler stands up on the panels and water gets over the top of my sweetcorn beautifully

Good morning from the Texas hill country! Great video. How much calcium nitrate do you use to side dress a 30’ row of sweet corn? Thanks! Robin
@gardeningwithhoss
@gardeningwithhoss Жыл бұрын
Side Dress: Apply a tablespoon per plant, or 2 lbs per 100′ row. Apply fertilizer at least 2 inches away outside of plant stems. Do not allow contact with wet plant foliage. Just a little over a half pound for your 30 foot row.

i am going to try to grow corn this year, my first year to do so. I am also wanting to do the 3 sisters but do it in rows, when should i plant my green beans? Should they be planted in the hole with the corn at the same time or just an inch or two away from the corn ? I have never done this before, but i am wanting to try it .. also, what kind of squash can i grow along with them? can i mix it up with the squash, like maybe some winter squash like butternut and yellow squash? also i understand i can also grow melons along with this? I have a 16' x 100' row i am going to plant my 3 sisters ... i am in zone 7b and i feel our last frost date has gone by and i hope to have all of this in the ground this weekend .. unfortunately we are direct sowing all of them .. i am hoping for a good harvest this year .. thank you for information
