Or remove the battery, on the GoPro's that I use they will run on an external power source with the battery removed. So when we are filming on the boats, UTVs, vehicles all day long I never have batteries in them.

Yes good thing I can still use the camera with a power source.

A pinhole does release pressure off the battery but I do NOT recommend it I did it once and it worked but I had to be very careful only to puncture the outside layer and not the cells because those things explode very easily and dangerous
