Thanks, Heather! I have the little candle you have and it works pretty good, plus I like the crackling sounds. Those incense sticks sounds like a really good idea. I’m going to try those! Have a great week 🩷

Not a "Thats what she said" hahahahah. I use the Thermacell with these thick a55 mosquitoes here in Alaska and it works pretty good. Also love that Coleman Candle.

Oh man, those Alaska mosquitoes don't mess around - im wishing I was at Brooks Falls right now!! (One day 🤞🤞🤞) Thanks for watching!

@@HeathersHikesAndAdVANtures Yeah Brooks Falls is in Katmai National Park, not going to be visiting that park on this trip, I will next time. This time I'm doing; Denali NP, Kenai Fjords NP, St. Elias NP, & Glacier Bay NP. Hope those are as amazing looking as Brooks Falls.

I'm gonna try your idea for the screen in the back, being able to close the hatch without removing is good 👍 Id like to get a Thermasel but geez the refills are expensive, wonder how long they'll last 🤔 I forgot to tell you, I purchased a Inofia mattress like yours, only mine is a single, its great and 6in 😊 Thanks again Heather's Ooo that head netting could definitely be a good thing thats for sure, you can cover the rest of your body but face is different 😊❤

I'm gonna try the Thermacell the next time I camp with my daughter b/c she can't stand bugs, so uf it wpuld keep them away from the van, it will be totally worth it! They do have special trunk hatch screens now that zip and future more snugly, but I figured there's no point in spending money if what I have is still getting the job done for now! 💚

This was a great video because I learned the first time I went car camping without adequate bug protection, not to do it again. Lol. I'm now very prepared.

Bugs can honestly really make or break a trip. I remember my first time being at Sebastian Inlet near Melbourne Beach some years ago, and being eaten alive by noseeums. I couldn't even stand still long enough to enjoy the gorgeous views for a half second and was miserable. Soon as a breeze really kicked up and they disappeared I never felt such instant relief in my life before lol!!

we set up bug lamps around camp away from us. I recently purchased bug legging screens for my legs so I can wear shorts :) we already have hats with screens attached for our faces.

I saw those bug netting leggings in Congaree National Park on others too!! Such a great product! If I got back for the fireflies again, I'm definitely suiting up!!

Great Video. I'm a Florida Nomad as well. No chemicals for me either. The mosquitoes were camping with me in the winter!!! I discovered and love the natural repellant in Lavender. I use a body lotion after shower with Lavender oil. (Jergens makes a nice one) Those mosquitoes don't come near me. I burn Lavender incense outside my vehicle. My trash bags are Lavender. I burn Lavender candles. It always smells good in here. And when a few mosquitoes get trapped in here with me for the night, they buzz all around me. Lavender, Lavender, LAVENDER. ....it's also good for sleep. I sleep very well. Thank you. Good night. ~ 🦋

I know what you mean about the mosquitoes this winter!! Good tip on the lavender, thanks, I'll have to try it. Good for evening time, too!!

@HeathersHikesAndAdVANtures it really works. Oh...and my laundry doesn't stink either. Underwear and wet towels are the culprit. I tie my undies in lavender scented trash bags from the dollar store and sun dry my towel on top of my garage where the sun beats on the rear window. I keep my laundry in a sealed tub with all my good smelling lavender laundry supplies. Keeping a uniform scented keeps things simple. Of course my mattress topper is purple 💜 and lavender scented. Lol I do sleep really well. Try it. You'll like it. 😊 ~ 🦋

Very informative video, Heather. Any time I’m outside the bugs find me. I must be delicious! Lol. But seriously, have you seen the size of the grasshoppers this year? I saw one today that was at least 4 inches long. I’m not sure that they are really grasshoppers, but that’s what I was told. ❤
