It's like you said in one of your vids yesterday, we, Britain is selling another one of its industries to another country because theres a lot of bread to be made at the moment.. Who gives a fuck about tomorrow... Until it comes and we have nothing left.... Except someone with a monopoly on us (boxers/fans)

While I get what your saying It's hardly like boxing as ever been anything other than a shady at best "sport" and when I was young guys like Don King and Arum were in America and the "syndicate" over here were controlling boxing none of them shining lights of goodness, before that we had mafia and other gangsters controlling fighters, fixing fights and corruption as always been working overtime in the background, boxing survived through all that so I'm sure it will survive Turki and his very deep pockets, and we have seen Hearn helping out community boxing club's sure the Warrens do too, more than our own Government does at least.

Don't know if you remember joe. but when you first asked the tufki question a while back, I said my main worry was that he starts playing favourites.. a month later, and we've got bakole, parker and kabayel being made to wait while a well beaten challenger gets a rematch because "his excellency wants it"!
@innervisionjjАй бұрын
That's a valid argument but they are in the business of finding ways to get more interest and ppvs that might be at the expense of people perceived boxing protocols given the fact they transfer a lot of money into fights that might not otherwise generate much interest.

Considering how turki is trying to buy ring magazine and (unsuccessfully) tried to buy boxrec, I see it as a bad thing long term...seems he'll go for dazn next ay
@chrisstrange9828Ай бұрын
Dazn are either already owned by saudi or are well in with them.

The Saudi involvement in sports is a little more complex than people realise and actually extends into Geopolitics. The world is changing and moving away from Oil, the Saudi's and other Middle Eastern nations have known this for about a decade and started making plans. Some of them turned to international tourism(such as Dubai) some of them are turning to digital markets and one or two of them are refusing to budge from the oil industry, so have begun playing footsie with nations typically hostile to the West politically. The Saudi's on the other hand have turned to global sports with their first successful foray being into Football(Soccer for the Americans) and now Boxing. I believe they have some smaller ventures in sports but I can't recall them off the top of my head. Anyway they are using sports to keep their economy afloat once the oil is no longer as profitable. There is an article about Saudi's recently giving up on the goal of having oil priced at $100 per barrel, which will likely accelerate their push into Sports. There is also the sports washing of their culture, which has some pretty questionable human rights stuff that I'm not well versed in so I can't comment beyond that.

I think they are bad for the long term. I don’t want to be an out and out lefty but boxing needs National Leagues and the union for the fighters.

boxing has been around a long time before saudi came into it. hearn and warren are only thinking about the money and not about boxing and that will be a FACT.

Let's be honest here. Boxing was and always has been in such a sad state. People forget how many fights have not happened simply because promoters and boxers are greedy and don't want to lose. I would argue that boxing didn't really seem to have a future. What saudi have done for boxing is amazing for the fans. And as for the grass roots, we'll that's not all on Turki's head. And people moaning about human right are just either stupid or completely ignorant of our own atrocious human rights, not 100s of years ago, but over the past 30yrs. Warren, Hearn are not much better than Don King or any of the others. And as for the National Anthem, well get a grip.. Keep quiet, put your feet up, and just enjoy the show. It's boxing after all, not politics.

You're making the perfect the enemy of the good there mate. We're very far from perfect, but thousands of slaves didn't die to build Wembley Stadium, and we're not lopping off heads by the hundreds. It's perfectly possible to expect our shit-awful governments to do better AND disapprove of the behaviour of the Saudi regime simultaneously. Boxing isn't politics, no, but Saudi involvement in boxing absolutely is. Politics is 100% of the reason behind it, because if they don't suck up to us through entertainment we might start wondering why we're arming them. And while we're responsible for a million dead in Iraq, Afghanistan and Syria, remind me what the nationalities of the guys behind the terrorist attack that set that whole ball of shit rolling were? 🤔
@DrRepperАй бұрын
Yeah. It's good for us in the short term, and in the most superficial possible sense,because the Saudis are financing fantasy matchups that we all want to see. However... The Saudi regime is f*cking grim, and this newfound interest in boxing promotion is all a giant sports-washing exercise for it. The only difference between the House of Saud and the Taliban is a few trillion gallons of the runny black stuff. On top of that, monopolies are rarely a good thing, and Warren and Hearn have pretty-much entirely sold out to Riyadh Season. Are they even promoters anymore, in any real sense? It's getting so that there's a 2 tier system in boxing: Saudi cards, and the rest, and it won't be l8ng before we've got a boys club of the usual suspects feeding from the trough month in, month out, and everyone not willing to entirely sell out what residual principles they may still have is excluded.

I was looking forward to this as I’m also suspicious but don’t know why But not I’m less skeptical as I can see you don’t know why either 😄 Why is it phrases like stuffing faces and troughs? It’s just big fights making big money like always isn’t it ? If it has a specific potential negative effect please tell us , cos there was no meat on the bone there

None of them are engaging with the fact a telegraph journo was denied entry to an event in Britain for criticising saudi arabia. Joshua v Dubois apparently couldnt have happened without saudi. well if thats true, does that mean we should be so grateful to turki we refuse to criticise him? or does it just reflect awfully on Warren & Hearn that they would have allowed their petty rivalry to deny us a fight between 2 of britains best heavyweights if not for the endlessly deep pockets of the excellent turkey

Just look Joe HOW fast The Turki made ALL those grown men, BEND DOWN, BEND DOWN, to The Saudi's desires for MONEY. This is JUST the beginning, the Honey Money Period of Saudi Controlled Boxing. One is IN or OUT based Upon One Mans emotions for the day. Boxing, Boxing, deserves better than that, look at ALL the other wee boxers out there no longer getting the time of day, as it is ALL DOWN to What the Saudi's want to see, wrapped up in, I am giving the FANS what they want. Saudi Arabia BUYS SOULS, in my opinion, BUYS SOULS. SAD SAD SAD days for boxing and the future of boxing. Soon enough the Saudi's will own Queensbury and Matchroom.

British boxing is good at the minute but doesn't mean we want to listen to the Saudi anthem in our country unless it is for a Saudi fighter. UK is getting over run by foreign influences in every way and it is going to burn the country in the end

Frankly, I think that ship has already sailed. We essentially abolished ourselves forty years ago by allowing our country to be changed from a manufacturing to a service economy.

Frank Warren is a horrible man. I met him 25 times over my lifetime watching boxing he has never ever been happy or smiling always miserable. He been hit in the chin more times than Chisora sued 47 times by boxers and puts the worse undercards in boxing history Hearn lost 5-5 they were 50/50 fights and Dubious performance was made to look so good because AJ was so bad Hearn leagues above him in promoting worldwide boxing and he has personality 😂
