This song reminds me of my first visit to Tennessee, when I was a kid in 1967. Being a city kid from Chicago, that trip had a huge influence on me! It's also the first time I ever heard this song!

It is great the way they kept playing right on beat when Sonny started playing Reuben on the break. Awesome

I love it! Bobby is the more likely to sing or play a line from a different song_ then sing on like it belonged there. Sonny hears it and gives his soft laugh. They are the greatest

Ye boy us older people really appreciate the stagemanship of the bluegrass stalwarts of the past. What class act and nice people they were.

that song, and that concert was being aired by swedish TV, I saw it, and the announcer said that there was a bluegrass festival in august in a small town called Gränna. I and two other friends went, and we have beeing going ever since. Y'all come. hope it runs in 2021. (Corona restrictions) plenty of parking lot picking. nice folks.

Growing up in the mid-70's, the Osborne Brothers were a huge influence in learning to pick bluegrass... Clean, Classy, Great Harmony - and years ahead of their time. So what a joy it was, after all these years to see Bobby still doing his thing, strong as ever, in Palatka, Florida last year - Nice stuff!

@Bigmrclean--back in the day Bobby's voice was the "desired" timbre and pitch for this good old buegrass music. Now it kind of sounds out of place but in the old days Bobby's voice fit perfectly. Peace out from the foothills of the Smokey's...

Sadly, theres not a lot of Nashville left in Nashville it is an industry town with very little heart, but you can still catch good bluegrass at the Station Inn.

yeah lol....That's really cool...They had a good time on stage, thats what its all about
@bryanbarrett14783 жыл бұрын
I'm guessing the reason they were laughing was because he sang, "If you're lookin' for a place sure to lose: Smoky Mountain, Cherokee". A casino had just opened in Cherokee a few years before and apparently one (or more) of them lost some money there.

Especially since it was in Germany and they probably did not know the music that well!
@zymelin213 жыл бұрын
oh dear Mary. Germany has plenty of bluegrass. spec in the american occupazion zone, and anywhere else, also in the former DDR, wher bluegrass was seen as the music of the working class, and therefore good. German bluegrass bands are known for tact, tune and tonality, right out of uncle Bills playbook.

@bigmrclean This sounds like someone who knows very little about the Osborne Brothers. Just look at Bobby while he is singing--no straining, red-in-the-face or bulging veins in his neck--it just comes out easily and naturally. Many others strain to imitate him, but not Bobby. By the way, he is STILL singing on the opry almost every weekend at the age of 79!!

Sorry you didn't like the crowd. They acted like a Swedish crowd always did in the 70's on a TV session. If they were there, they liked bluegrass and also knew Reuben. PS. Sweden is not a part of Germany. Is Louisiana a part of Texas? Tack plunky123. Har du mer? Har hittat dina + en till. Hade denna på ett gammalt kasettband, som bara gnisslar nuförtiden/Lady Miriam
