As a veteran stalker i can tell this game absolutely rocks. Game's not really that easy if you turn the difficulty up, but also Stalker games are not really designed to be a hardcore ones (apart from some fan mods). Main features of series always were atmosphere and setting with freedom of exploring and choosing your ways, without much hardcore shootings.

one thing is that the English voice acting is just grating, so weird to just randomly hear native English speakers, like a random Scottish person, in the middle of Chernobyl. But the Ukrainian VA is good and better for immersion.

Don’t wanna spoil anything, but you should take a little trip west, past the army warehouses in the chemical plant, you’ll see like 2 small stone pillars with the vents. Worth the trip, worth the puzzle to do. Long time stalker fan, channel the explorer within you Joov and the zone will reward you will all kinds of goodies hidden around

I already have 70h in the game, have completed some history endings (the closests to my choosing paths) and now I'm off to doing secondaries and world exploration. Will wait for all the fixes and the modding scene to replay the game for the rest of the endings. The game 100% has it's flaws, but as a big, and I mean BIG fan of Stalker and immersive games (like Metro, Cyberpunk or Fallout), the base of the game is almost perfect, world, story, characters, immersiveness are all great. And you KNOW that the modding scene is going to have a field day with this game + it seems like GSC is very passionate in fixing the game.

I've got a hottake so please ignore this if you don't like stalker 2 lol. TL;DR: me like stalker 2 for the reasons people hate it lol I didn't like the first couple of stalker games. They're just not for me. Stalker was recommended to me years ago and I just didn't enjoy it. I played about 6 hours of the first one, it was like pulling teeth. Played the one that came after that (idk what it's called but it's not 2) and it was almost worse lol. Stalker 2 basically removed most of the shit I didn't vibe with, and fleshed out the things I enjoyed/makes me laugh sometimes. Stalker 2 isn't for stalker fans, it's for people who couldn't get into stalker back in the day. I don't think it's dumbed down or streamlined, it's just less fucking tedious. I'm an adult, I ain't got much longer to live, I don't want tedium in my hobbies.

Your bug counter is bugged. Those "light problems" are just real time shadows moving too fast due to silly fast time scale (sadly a feature, not a bug), and it gets dark when the sun sets - in what world is that a bug?

People definently have rose-tinted glasses when it comes to the original trilogy, i'm convinced that the people that have played them, have played modded versions for so long they literally can't remember what the originals were like vanilla. People complaining about the AI of humans for example, it is galaxies better than the originals, or complaining about "lacking features" i never really played much of the modded versions (GAMMA and anomaly) so i just don't get it, to me it is in every way a better stalker game than the original trilogy, with the exception of a-life not working properly, but that's a bug that they are aware of and are likely fiixing now that the balancing and graphic glitches are being ironed out. When buying a stalker game, you should expect S tier euro jank. Like the fps version of the Gothic series.

The guy in chat that wrote "I expected this game to be more Slavic" Brother, have you ever been to a slavic country, i mean, sure the lack of tracksuits might seem off but literally the entire world of the Zone looks like the country side of any Slavic country. Those bus stops are iconic, these whole molded concrete busstops with mosaic on it, is more Slavic than Adidas tracksuits. Also, as a European like Adidas tracksuits is actually more of a paneuropean thing, besides the fact that there are Slavic people all over Europe, it was very popular in the late 80s and early 90s. It's either Gopniks or everyone's 50+ year old balding uncle who hasn't gotten laid since the 90s. Also, in regards to "Fallout-like" S.T.A.L.K.E.R shadow of Chernobyl came out a year before Fallout 3, so i don't think it's accurate to call it a Fallout-like, this game series does predate the fps version of Fallout. The game is actually based on a movie and a book, a book called Roadside Picnic and a movie based on Roadside Picnic called Stalker. The gameplay is CS 1.6 with horror elements (lol) or like oldschool Call of Duty (2003), which was a mod for Quake, although it plays more like Call of Duty 2 (2005). Fallout as made by Bethesda had very little influence actually. This game actually wasn't inspired by rpg games at all, hence the near complete lack of rpg elements (xp, levels, skills) it is basically CS with an open world, and loot. The original looter shooter along with Hellgate: London.

I absolutely LOVE this game, but could anyone please help me with Settings Optimisation? To explain: it starts-off fine, it loads everything fine, for the first hour or so it will all be fine, BUT there seems to be parts of the game that just completely f**ks the performance for me, • mainly either walking into a trader, where there will be lots of people, • OR when entering a cutscene & talking to someone, literally anyone. the moment i walk into that area or begin that cutscene, my game instantly turns into a Power-Point, playing at like 3 frames a second. i've found that a Temporary fix around this, is to Quicksave wherever i am in that moment, and then re-load the saved file, but i don't wanna be in constant worry & peril about when the game is-next going to sieze up, so please if anybody has changed something in their settings & noticed it has fixed things, please LMK what you did, because i love this game, but i can only rlly play it for like 1 hour atta time before the lag & the frames begin
