It’s 9:30 am having a cup of coffee and sitting in my comfortable living room looking out of the huge window and enjoying the morning sunlight bathe the plants in my front yard and watching the birds flyby and cats making their way in and around the garden. It’s a relaxing and a wonderfully peaceful time. No bothersome relative or companion to disturb my tranquility! This is a dream come true!

I am stoic, retired 3 years and 69 years old. I had to leave my wife of 48 years. The stress became unbearable. I purchased a 33ft. Rockwood Travel Trailer and have gone across country and back. I was born in Pittsburgh Pennsylvania. After 2.5 years alone on the road, I decided to rent a home in Grove City PA. for the Winter. Now trying to find out what makes me happy and where to live to give me peace and freedom. It's lonely, but better than constant misery. Thank you.

Me to. After 50 years of marrage, I became a widow. I remained fIthfull for 53 years. All 4 children grown and have their own families. Now travel 80% of the time. Have a small Motorhome. I have never been so happy in my life. I wish all the best to all single older people. While you can still breath, you can still live. Go for it!

I collected all my supplies for retirement, paints and quilting supplies etc. and then my sweet 1940s house burned to the ground. I raised 4 beautiful daughters alone there so everything poof gone. Rebuilt but it is not the same and the loss of all my treasures well you know it is just sad. However, many have been through so much more so I can't complain.

I am involved with the animal rescue cause and volunteer at a no kill shelter for cats, and I have my own business cleaning homes. My family is nearly gone except for an abusive negkectful son I dont interact with. I am grateful every day for what I do have, and kniw that I dont have to possess material things to still cherish my nemories! I would like to have a partner/friend to share things with, but I am still fine being alone with my cat. Namaste

Sometimes, we need that cold bucket of water thrown on our aspirations. It’s called getting real with yourself. I’m 69 years old , and a stage 4 cancer survivor and also suffering from cervical vertigo ! I’d like to play 2 hours of tennis everyday to work on my skills and techniques but can’t . The best I can do now is only 1 hour of tennis three times a week. What do I do the rest of the time ?? I sit and rest or sleep ! I haven’t stopped dreaming or growing! I’m planting new seeds and … present-day plants to thrive in my new garden to replace some of the old ones that are dying and no longer doing so well. I can’t amend the soil in me anymore because the soil is simply too deteriorated.

I've found that surrounding myself with younger people, like 15 to 20 years younger, works better for me now that I'm in my early 70s. They are still physically active and have more interesting subjects to talk about verses their aches and pains and pets. One other benefit is that I look like I'm in my 50's...funny how that works. So many women in my age group sit around and gossip or complain about everyone and thing. I've been asked to join a bocci ball team, I was on a sailing team in the San Francisco bay area for years. We raced these sailboats sometime 3 times a week, depending on which yacht clubs night it was. Stay active even if it's going to your local community center to do yoga or stretching.

I am so sorry because I know how horrible it is to lose (everything) in a fire. Over 20 years ago now.at first I was devastated but at the time I had a attitude that I would be happy when I got(bigger,better or more).but then after a few months I realized I was free( those things I had worked so hard to get),were actually turning me down.and that actually I was free some people go thru a whole lifetime with the same idea I had putting my happiness on hold.and I may have never figured out that getting more stuff was not really where happiness was that things can tie one down and I was actually given a gift by that fire,because my mindset was off and I was then FREE from all my stuff. So actually that fire was a gift

This is an interesting video but if badly understood leads to loneliness social withdrawal and depression as we cannot live in the absence of social interactions. It promotes lack of empathy and extreme self I solve mental. Boundaries are very important if understood properly. Older age means retirement and reduced social interaction. So called stoicism may increase loneliness.

But this woman is like a child I am annoyed and try to avoid her by limiting my contact to protect my peace but it’s her space,I think she believes because I’m here she can start conversing or expecting me to want to come to her events So it’s draining but I say no to what she cooks or if she tells me she’s inviting people we have different beliefs about cleanliness I have no interest in participation I’m working hard to move away to be solo again.

Telling everyone over 60 that they shouldn't listen to anyone that tells them they can no longer do something is dangerous. My partner is in his late 60's and he's got dementia but thinks he can still do everything. Well he's been in 5 car accidents in three years and leaves the house with food cooking on the stove. So if he tells me, because his family has deserted him because of his strange behavior, he doesn't need help, well now we're putting everyone in danger. Also he's beat me and broken ribs because he thinks he's in danger. Remember, you're encouraging EVERYONE over 60 to do as they want, and that can cost their lives and the ones trying to help them. Shame on YOU 😑
