there's actually a secret ending you can get at the cornfield....if you go down then you will see a guy using mind control machine with a bunch of computers and if you destroy the machine you will stop also stop walking which means we were actually mind controlled all this time

My theory is that the boy was the final piece for the blob to be completed, and scientists can do research about it. They do first experience by putting mind control machine on these people just to create this blob. To command them and make them smarter.
