I just went for a 2 week trip to Bali and learned some interesting language lessons while there.
Most of them can be applied to Russian, so that's why I just had to make this video. Hope you find it useful :)

​@@LearntheRussianLanguageя, как native (не могу придумать подходящие слово в родном языке, лол), сказал бы "Я бы тоже хотел им стать": "Мне тоже бы хотелось" - звучит так, как будто это начало отрицательно настроенного условия ("Мне тоже бы хотелось, если бы не sth") "этим заниматься" - звучит странно, поэтому, т.к. дегустатор - профессия, можно сказать "им стать" это не хейт, просто так будет звучать чутка понатуральнее

Whenever I'm asked why I'm learning Russian, I usually respond with something like this: Я изучаю русский язык, потому что это интересно. Конечно, я знаю умная красивая девушка которая говорит по-русски. Это не совпадение. Maybe it doesn't translate well? I've never once gotten a chuckle from anyone in response.

do you make a pause in between я знаю and the rest of the sentence? like are you saying "I know, a smart, beautiful woman who is learning Russian" or are you saying "I know a smart beautiful woman who is learning Russian"? The second one doesn't make much sense

@@thequeertelope7941 I guess I'm confused by your question. I tried to say, "I know a smart, beautiful woman that speaks Russian." The woman isn't learning Russian. The woman is the reason I'm learning Russian.

The sentence is good, I'd change the wording a bit to create more intrigue. Something like: Я изучаю русский язык, потому что это интересно. Хотя, может быть не совпадение что я знаю одну умную красивую русскую девушку. The great thing about the flexible word order in Russian is that you can put the punch line word almost alway last in each sentence. Or you can make it shorter and just reply "конечно из-за русских красоток" (of course because of Russian beauties) and maybe follow it up with "какие еще могут быть причины у мужчины?" (which other reasons can a man have?). And then follow it up with "но русский язык конечно тоже очень красиво звучит" (but the Russian language of course also sounds beautifully)

@@Свирепыйстол-ъ8т Oh, I get it. Then you'd want to say "я знаю умную красивую девушку". You know how you change "she" to "her" when you say "I know her"? Well Russian does the same thing, except for nouns too. Look up the accusative case in Russian

If you are lucky enough to have a Slavic community where you live, to enjoy the culture, try to find a Russian Bible church or an Orthodox Church. Go to a Russian grocery store. Have a script and practice. Using humor as mentioned in this video is also a great idea…

And humor is one of the fastest ways to build connection, so you won't be a stranger anymore. Of course combine humor with a genuine interest in them and the language for best results.

Yeah, these phrases are meant when you're already in a conversation and you notice a good vibe with the other person. Social tact is always useful to have. Though I feel as a non-native you get a bit more leeway than natives, since you can always put things up to "the language barrier".

If they did, there would be no need to rig elections so much, keep lists of foreign agents, block Facebook, Instagram, Discord, slow down KZbin, introduce many repressive laws, etc. Putin is not Russia, just as Hitler is not Germany and Mussolini is not Italy.
