Comparing your island to others is one of the biggest mistakes I ever made playing this game. I felt so disheartened and embarrassed, cause I had and still have absolutely no structure in my island. Comparing even made me stop playing for a long time. I accepted now that I never can make such beautiful islands like some content creators here, BUT I learned to enjoy and adore my chaotic islands (I made several islands and they were all Chaoscore, haha :D ) In the end enveryone needs to play the game and create the island the way THEY want, it's so important to remember this. I didn't know you can reset the usage of tools by customizing it! Big help, thank you so much for this!

My favorite tip is to put your net/ fishing pole away before the time runs out during tournaments. They won’t break during a round, so if it’s in your pockets before the time runs out, you can use the same tool for as many rounds as you want! 🤓

Flatten your island in sections. I completely flattened mine, and now I want to have the cliffs I started with, and it's a lot of work to revive it.

Breaking tools is part of getting nook miles though, it takes a long time, but that's a category called 'Trashed Tools' So don't really fix them until you get all those stamps for breaking tools. The last stamp is 200 tools.

Customizing tools to reset their usage?! wow, that’s DEFINITELY something I wish I knew sooner, cuz every time a tool breaks I just buy another one at Nooks Cranny or craft one of it’s closed, but this is a new fact I just learned! Thanks, Ben!

The only issue with that is you get nook miles for them breaking. I looked up all the nook miles once and there are a lot that you get by just playing normal. I use treasure islands and time travel, so I really haven’t done all the nook miles. But I think with this island I have I am going to do more.

I also think it would make sense to use up the flimsy tools right before it breaks so then u made use of it before crafting it into a new stronger one. Unless the new one takes that damage as well? I'm not sure 💀

The island backups are only really useful for transferring though because you have to have both switches ( the one the island is currently on and the on its being transferred to) to get any use out of it. If you lose your switch there's still no way to recover that island until you find said switch.

I absolutely love my island. other than some light terraforming (mostly to allow more bridges and inclines to be built), placing walking paths, as well as building said bridges and inclines, i kept the place very natural. i went for a "quaint, small town where everything is in walking distance" feel to it. i have even embraced the parts of my island where the flowers have multiplied crazily! 😂

me too, me too! i just slight terraformed to reduce a bit of rivers and round a few cliffs, my island was pretty flat from the start the upper area is full of flowers, i just added bits of paths were we didn't have flowers and like "this area is abandoned" is still a work in progress because i had to restart less than 2 months ago and I don't have all the items i would lke to have (for example, i want to do an outdoor cinema but i don't have a projector), but every neighbour has their role and dedicated space.

I've never regretted starting my second island over again. I've kept my islands on my Switch and Switch Lite both flat since I had no interest in changing my island and I've never liked decorating very much. I never restarted my first island since I wanted to keep all my fruits and I don't have friends that I regularly play with.

For me, my biggest mistake was choosing the ordinance that waters your crops and flowers automatically. My island became so overrun with flowers that digging them up and throwing them away was very tedious. I won’t make that mistake again.

When you have a setup like my island does you can't afford to have hundreds of flowers appearing next to the line of flowers I actually planted. I placed brick paths around the line of flowers to prevent this.

Regarding the tools bit- the only tools with limited durability which cannot be customized are flimsy tools, golden tools (which have high durabilty, so it's not a big deal) and axes. Also, upgrading tools resets durability as well

can’t agree with 1:27 enough!! for years i was always comparing my island to other peoples, which made me reset easily 20+ times because i always wanted to bigger, better themes which inevitably made me burnt out. at the start of this year i reset for the last time and now have a very simply, non-aesthetically please island but i haven’t loved the game more! i’ve loved playing slowly, and how the game intended. it’s really brought those march 2020 feelings back for me!

Bob’s Gang,, the biggest mistake i made was rushing through the entire game during the lockdowns, altho i had soo much fun with friends and the community. Eventually i flattened the entire island but then I got sooo overwhelmed and also bored of just decorating. I stopped playing for like a year and now I deleted my island and started a new one. Planning on taking it really slow. And when i really do need an item or something i can always go to a treasure island. I made a strict rule there for myself tho, as u can get kinda greedy walking there 😂 I’m only allowed one visit per week. Hopefully this will keep me playing for a while 😊

I think another mistake people make is that buying flowers may seem like a good idea but some people forget to contain the flowers and dont play for a few days, your island just gets a entire tsunami of flowers 😅Some of my family and I have made that Mistake. Changing things up on the island totally, or even part of it, is how I've been able to have fun and keep playing daily for three years! I bounce between forests, gardens, amusement parks, then changing up the houses. Adding extra humans helps too, as does rotating residents via Amiibos. We have a whole game card box packed with Amiibos. Currently, I'm stocking my islands with Crankies. Have fun, keep it happy, people! Love the video 💗

Regarding the Recyling Box: A Rusty Part shows up in there the in-game day after you help Gulliver regardless of his outfit, so that's undoubtedly where the one shown in the video came from. Whether you still get one if you don't help him, I don't know because I always do. And besides the unlocks, something I like about the DLC is it's an indirect means of having more than 10 favorite villagers in your game. You won't get their personality DIYs or Reactions, and I THINK the photos can't be purchased for your home island (I haven't tried placing then buying one from Wardell so correct me if I'm wrong). But you'll still have them. And if for any reason you plan to kick a villager out of your home island, if you design their vacation home first, they'll still be there and you can still visit/edit it (According to a GameFAQs user. As of this comment, I've only completed the "Design the outgoing villager's vacation home" step because the villager in question is being sent to a friend and we need to coordinate pickup).

10: ONLY hit your villagers when you want to give them a gift and they are sitting somewhere (except when KK is on the island and they are listening, it doesn't work) 1: BACK UP YOUR ISLAND!!! i am speaking as someone who had autobackup disabled because someone on twitter said they got their data corrupted. Honest question here: why do so many people say to customize tools instead of making new ones when they break? I carry sticks, stones, all the wood types and iron on me all the time, so making a new tool is straightforward, as opposed to buying customization kits or getting them from storage. Plus the supplies are free, as opposed to paying for customization kits. Plus you get nook miles for breaking tools and making new ones. Plus you get the maximum number of uses from every tool before doing something to "renew" it. How is customizing better?

For a start, it saves you using those materials. You may have a lot, but some players might struggle to get tons. Even I find myself running out of materials regularly, especially when I have no Nook Mile Tickets. Unlike materials, customisation kits can be bought from the store using bells, which are a much easier to obtain resource. There is value in letting your tools break but to have the option to let them not is really good I think.

When I first started out, I read all kinds of tips and tricks on how to get a villager to leave. None of them ever worked. I stopped trying when a villager I was literally in the process of trying to get their picture (talked to them first, gave them any item they asked for, gifts everyday) asked to leave 😑while the one I wanted to leave didn't even ask until weeks later.....

Myself I do admit that I tried kicking out Judy (sorry...I know I'm a cold blooded monster, but I wanted to replace her with Rosie I think), I was hitting her with my net but I apparently caught a flea and she was like "Oh, I think I must've gotten a major head trauma so I don't remember you swatting me with that net. Only thing is that it's no longer itching!". Island comparison is something I do consider as something that is bit...foolish? Usually I'm eager to get some inspiration from others islands. Myself I'm trying to make an urban style island with proper roads, park and suburb for some villagers. The rushing was probably something that may turn me into a total do*****ag but I did indeed use Treasure Islands on my new save to retrieve at least some portion of the items, villagers, my house furniture and clothes. The new save idea was to get a completely new island layout because I was dissatisfied with the old one. But in the reality, Animal Crossing games are meant to be played in slow pace. Currently I'm not really regretting that I wiped my old save, the current layout is certainly better, plus I even got other than apples as my island fruits, and they're peaches, airport is blue instead of green, lots of good things and certainly a layout that allows me to build the things I wanted, one thing I forgot to do on my old save was to back up my designs somehow, but I did them in ACPatterns so I learned it the hardest way possible, download the QR codes and store them. Tools breaking, spoiler warning! If you want to complete the trashed tools achievement, do NOT customize the tools. In fact, fastest way to complete this achievement is to use the flimsy tools (one exception is the axe, if you need to chop the tress down, not dig them in whole), since they break the fastest, and with the resources found from your island you should be able to craft more and more flimsy tools. Of course if you REALLY feel the need of customizing the flimsy tool, do it AFTER crafting but BEFORE you utilize it in any means. DLC unlocks, I already completed Happy Home Paradise, the unlocks certainly made my home look more cozy, and furnishing the other villagers houses was actually fun. It also allowed me to fix the infamous fire hazard Audie keeps doing in her home, which is to put the microwave on her gas range xD Selling everything is now just stupid. Mostly I'm selling the bugs, fishes and seacritters Blathers already has in his museum. If the player dialogue doesn't contain "Yes!" as a first part, it means that you have caught it already, with that kept in mind, you know which critters you should hand over to Blathers before you recklessly start selling them, and any extra fruits and sprouts can be also sold, fossil duplicates also sells pretty well. Usually if I have some furniture duplicates or something I certainly don't need, I give them to my villagers to grow the friendship between me and the villagers. But easy for me to say as an individual who has all the rooms and floors, no mortgage to pay, but for those who are still stuck in it. This kinda links with the Recycle Box in Resident Services, there may be items that you can sell for decent amount of Bells. Let's say that Sloppy series furnitures aren't your thing, you still get decent sale in Nook's Cranny. The time of day you're playing the game is debatable, some people don't mind playing in middle of the night with Able Sisters and Nook's Cranny closed, but the optimal play time is between 8 AM to 11 PM for me at least. Damn that was a long essay. Just some words of my response on all these mistakes as an Animal Crossing player, I actually have to adapt myself more with the Wild World I have on my DSi I bought from second hand store last year.

I have a random thought and I have no idea how this is but... ... I have a Golden Shovel that I use to dig up Manilla Clams and only Manilla Clams and I haven't replaced it in about two months playing. Do you think that the durability on it resetted after a certain amount time of no use, or do you think that Katrina's fortunes has something to do with it? Hi Bobs Gang. I`m on my third island now and this time I do everything opposite to my first ones. I don`t stress anything, no rush, no hurry, no timetraveling (wich just confuses me) I`m not concerned about villagers since I like all I`ve met so far. A funny mistake I did was accidently selling my wetsuit during a nightly divingsession, without having any extra suit in my inventory. 😹

Well i kinda made this mistake myself with hunting for villagers i wanted for the first 3 house plots , then not knowing their houses would not be their own unique ones but standart ones. But i did fix it by getting the Amiibocards of said villagers but having to kick em out to get the best house was a bit of a bummer.

I've just started playing, 3 years late lol, and I totally agree about not comparing your island to others. I definitely felt that at the beginning, but after customizing even a little of my island, it feels like mine and I absolutely love it. And in terms of rushing through the game, I definitely did that with Nooks shop, the museum, and up to the Able Sisters. That's all I wanted to really rush through and now I'm just chilling out making bells and actually just exploring my island. I only really time travel a day if I want my flowers to grow 😂😂

If you have access to Kappa'n or Nook Miles Tickets, you can got to deserted islands and will probably find fruit you don't have yet. take as many home as you can and plant them so you will then have access to the fruit without co-op. This is how I did it the first two times I played the game. I hope that helps.

I only restarted once, my 2nd playthrough I immediately got Drago as a villager. Never restarting again

How do you go to work in this game just tell me what I need to do to get a five/four star rating (I have three stars) I have weeded my island, decorated, put flowers and fencing, uncluttered my island and even put paths in but I still have 3 stars and a very small island. And how do you start up a new island? I think you need to get another ANCH "disk card" (I think that's what it's called)

The trick to kick out villagers is to not interacting with them at al for a long time :)

Actually villagers with lower friendship scores are more likely to move out, and hitting them with your net does lower friendship score as long as you don’t apologise Also giving them any gift increases friendship, and trash just keeps it the same Talking to them at all also raises friendship score so it’s better to just ignore their entire existence It won’t guarantee a move out though

The ones with high friendship also want to move out! Easier to raise friendship than to decrease it I think..Talk them a bunch, gift a few things, hit them and then apologize, and in no time they’ll be begging to leave 😅 Seen so many struggle to keep their favs only for them to move out anyways and people struggle to no end to get rid of ones they hate but they just don’t want to leave 😂

Actually, making your villagers mad and then apologizing nets a +1 in friendship which will absolutely speed up them leaving. So you can talk to them +1, give them a gift wrapped in their favorite color +2, make them mad -2, and apologize +3 and come away with +4 for the day 😊

Dumb question but how does having a +4 friendship with a villager speed up them leaving?

@@keelinmacken9552 they tend to leave sooner when you have higher friendship levels. With the odd exception of the second to last villager to move in getting that thought bubble. If you don’t like hitting them with the net, I’ve also found talking to them until they’re fatigued causes them to leave sooner, or at least up the chances they are the next one with the thought bubble

I don't really think my island because how it is built because I was so happy to get it but I think I got it late!!!! my villagers: lyman (eh?) tammy (AYYY!) zucker (I WAS SOOOO LUCKY IT WAS MY 2ND) flora (cute!) and soon maple!!!! (i was looking for her house name and zucker gave me a cute shop sign!!!!) im a starter!!!

the only tool u can't customize that can break is the axe no clue about golden ones tho
