"Irregardless of" instantaneously made me think of people saying "I could care less" instead of "I couldn't care less". 😂 Also a very common mistake amongst native speakers, which really cracks me up as "I could care less" means "I do care to a certain degree", thus the exact opposite of the intended statement. Other frequent mistakes, albeit a bit more advanced, include: - mixing up the verbs "to defer" and "to differ" (or the verb/noun "(to) complement" and the verb/noun "(to) compliment"); - using the prepositions "than" and "to" with the adjective "different" ("from" is the only correct option); - using the relative pronouns "that" and "which" interchangeably; - mixing up the prepositional phrases "in case of" ("it might happen") and "in the event of" ("it's actually happening"); - using "like" (used to create a frame of reference: "Last year, she travelled to lots of different places like France, Germany and Spain." = She didn't go to those countries but visited places that are similar.), instead of "such as", used to list specific examples ("Last year, she travelled to a lot of different places such as France, Germany and Spain." = She was in France, Germany and Spain.)

I’m going to try to apply a trip to the states this year after I get really fit again, which is probably in the summer. I’ve been wanting to go there forever. Ever since I was a child. Now that I’m 40 and my language somehow got improved during the years, and this couple of years I had your help on it, I’m becoming super confident in both writing and speaking, I think it’s time. Need to get better on grammar of course but I really want to visit asap and I’ll get better there, even if it’s just a two week trip. Thanks teacher.❤

Well, about those '10 or less'. I think people interpret it absolutely OK, as 'less' refers not to the items. It describes the amount in general as a single result of shopping. And 'amount' is uncountable here.

7:43 onward: There are no examples of "less" used together with non-count nouns in the lower section of the transparency to the right. It's instead the adverbial usage of this word together with adjectives and the verb "to rain". What concerns non-count nouns "less" has to be used as an adjective like in the sentence "I've decided to drink less water." This is because adjectives are the part of speech that goes together with nouns, specifically, but not adverbs. The latter specify verbs, adjectives and other adverbs instead, like in the erroneous examples Wes uses in this section of the video.

Hello, sir. I have a question. Some native speakers write "could of" when they should use "could have." This seems to be one of those common grammar mistakes that native speakers make. But some people claim that this isn't a mistake because it's written that way on purpose by "many people." Is it true?
@InteractiveEng
