However it's only 1 event lootbox pool & they keep on adding new cosmetics in the shop all the time that you can buy straight up for a set price. So the fact that you call this predatory is just silly, they've even set up a maxlimit for how many boxes you can buy and there's reminders everywhere to spend responsibly. (I haven't bought a single lootbox and I won't ever do it, I already bought all I want through the safe means). Reminder: We have free will & there's no mechanic in the game that forces or pressures you to buy it.

I completely agree, and I believe many in the community do as well. We have no problem with the developers making money through cosmetics, and we fully support that. However, as you mentioned, the issue lies in how they are implementing it. I hope it's alright to share this-I just uploaded a video about an hour ago specifically discussing a proposal that could be applied to future gacha events! @H.O.D, if you have a moment, it's a short video, and I'd appreciate it if you could give it a listen. I personally hate gambling, so I'll stick to the non-gambling items in the store and ignore the lootboxes. It's really simple. You could have just held onto your 100$ or spent them in the regular shop, but you took the risk and you lost, which in turn makes you angry (nothing wrong with getting angry losing, it's natural). However you did in fact read the rewards, the chances and you saw there's nothing worth 100$ on the droptable and still went through with it, so either it was worth it or you shouldn't have spent them.

I completely agree here. I love skins and cosmetics in games and honestly have no problem what so ever. I would be willing to pay stupid amounts of money for skins if I want to. I can comfirm that this is the case. Due I did all the steps to see how bad it got. So what you end up with at start is all the crap you dont want up 50 dollar. Then you might see purple items of skins, then we talk about backpacks and light source 100 dollar, you start to see the weapons. 200 dollar you start to see the skull skin. then you are going into dead multies. To me, I did not get the motorcycle skin before i hit 300 dollar. You will never get discount lucky either. Belive me. its like here is a box that is bottom tier. scavange trough that. then you start on the next box of tier. Worst part is, that i have seen other content creators open this boxes and gotten each item in the same way as i did, and how I explained on the top side. Remember Netease calls the shot as they need a source of revenue from the game they are hosting, so the devs had to find a middle ground since they have to stand firm behind their marketing of gamba free Mr Wish Machine. So I'm not surprised with the introduction of the pyro crate honestly was expecting it. So take it like this, Netease could've forced the devs to revert their in-game gamba free Mr Wish strat and force them to charge players real life currency to pull Mr Wish. Which of course will piss off everyone on false advertisment, including you. In short this cosmetic gamba is the middle ground that every One Human players should be expecting to happen regardless of how we feel on the matter. If you think about this logically, It could've been worse, we could've gotten a paid Mr Wish instead but I have a hunch the devs fought tooth and nails against Netease to prevent it. Cause rmber Netease knows that Mr Wish Blueprints are a huge money maker it isnt a lie that netease didnt think about suggesting the devs to change their stance on it. On another hand they coudl've increase the lightforge shard conversion rate so we can buy it from the shop easily than rolling it based off of chances. I remember playing a Korean mobile game that also had a Gacha system, but allowed users to either pay with real money or a special in-game currency. At least with the in-game currency, it can be obtained through special events for that special cosmetic or themed objects. I hope in the future, Once Human can also allow their players to grind for this special in-game currency through tasks, puzzles, quests, and events or allow us to directly purchase the cosmetics/blueprints like they already do in the shop.

Phantasy Star Online has a gacha system for cosmetics but the nice thing was Players could sell those cosmetics to other players for in game currency. Which was nice because as long as I stayed on top of content and saved up my in game currency I was able to buy whatever cosmetic I wanted from other players without ever having to spend irl money. There were times that I did because I wanted to circumvent saving up but the majority of the time I didn't bother because I wasn't FORCED to pay money. Granted their odds werent NEARLY as bad as Once Human Lootcrates.

Of all the games I've seen take the pay-for-skins route, I by far find RUST to be my favorite. Especially the ability to buy/sell old ones in case you find a set you really like. It makes it so that, while there's always a new set available, most of them are not lost forever to newcomers. It also makes it so you can find one you like better later on, and perhaps sell the old one or trade it for the new one. This lets you choose a specific style and pay for it directly, either to the developer or to someone who no longer wants that skin. Yes, they do have crates to get random skins from... but they don't sell them. You can make said crates/bags by scrapping old skins you don't want, rather than selling them. Get rid of a few old ones you don't like, and roll the dice for a higher-value or better-looking new one, with a net cost of zero real money. If you choose to buy the crates/bags from another person, you can do that as well, but... you don't have to. It's not P2W/gambling based, since there is a way to get the stuff outright. There is nothing you can get from the aforementioned crates/bags that you can't also buy off the marketplace. And technically... they were all available once on the in-game market. I really wish more games would implement a similar system. Edit: for reference, my "random" crate loot was actually crafted using the free skins everybody gets at starter playtime hours. Stuff like a different colored shirt or picture frame/wooden sign. Things I'll never use. I got a nice knight armor mask as a replacement. Sold it to buy some I really wanted. (For $11, but the stuff I wanted was cheap, so...) Oh, and the bags/crates/etc. are all also separated/set up so you know if it's a weapon skin, item skin, or armor skin you're rolling for. This is also a mechanic I REALLY like.

Gambling mechanics in games that can be played by children should be globally banned. Not only that, in essence it constitutes what most would call illegal gambling. Game platforms like Steam should ban this in their ToS. That said, it seems that the companies involved will simply use whichever legal loopholes exist in order to maximise their gains regardless of any ethical concerns. That said, is this a developer or publisher problem, a gaming industry problem or a problem with the capitalistic that we live in? I get why you don’t like this but I don’t think that this will change things. Why not contact or write a letter to your local elected official or representative and ask them to develop laws which prevent these situations from happening ever again.

But they said we can use cosmetic all across character as long it stays in the same server region. I used some spare crystgin I had and did the 10 boxes half price: got the weapon pyro skin and pyro globe ornament, plus the green cradle and a couple of cosmetic boxes, so was pretty happy with all that. I just don’t fancy doing anymore as I don’t like the armour set and the pyro glide itself seems to be locked behind a $200 buy minimum, based on multiple YT’er videos on this: it’s a shame, I’d sooner they made the set purchasesble for say $30 but only for a limited time like a month then it’ll be forever off sale and relatively rare therefore. No need to be this predatory with the gambling crates.

Never buy into gachapons expecting you'll get what you want. It's best to just cross them off the list entirely unless you seriously have a bunch of disposable income you won't miss. Yes it exploits gambling addicitons and false hope, this is just how gachapons work. That said, I didn't find the phrasing to be deceptive at all, it seemed rather clear to me. Totally agree that gatcha is the worst system in the gaming history. It shows how greedy the dev is and it is a notorious practice. I love Once Human and have top up about 200 dollars into the game to support it BUT I dont gamble, I spend them on the furniture bundles that I really like which got a clear price tag on them. This gamble to get cosmetic with a very low chance of getting what you want and suck you in pulling more and more is an evil trap. Why you can't stop? because after you already spent 50 dollars, you will think, "oh i already spent 50, maybe the next crate i will get it!" then after 100 dollars spent, "I already spent 100 dollars! Only 2 chests left!" Then, in the end you spend way more than you expected. NEVER GAMBLE. If you like the game and wanna support it, support it in a healthy way. I already saw many players saying they are sad because they spent a lot and haven't got the bike skin, don't gamble! Just buy directly from cash shop, e.g. the beautiful glass bundle if you wanna support the game.

I think it's a balancing act. If they want the skins to be a rare status symbol, they can't make them cheap. I'm not willing to pay that much to get them so I won't. I'm not upset that I won't get them and others will. Same with the glass skins for buildings which look super nice, but are also too expensive for my taste. As for it being deceptive, I don't think it is. The numbers are all there and it's pretty clear that you'll only get good stuff on draw #30 in each round.

This relying on RNG to happen to give you the thing you actually want just feels bad and feelds like a waste. Spend enough to get a lightforge draw after 30 and got the axe and there was no joy and excitement from getting the fancy item at all. Just felt like I was cheated out of an item I really wanted and left me deciding unless the system changed I won't be spending more on this format of loot crates. My RNG is nowhere near kind enough to make it worth the money and I'd much rather just wait for something else to drop in the shop where I know I'm getting the item I'm spending on even if the RNG item is much more desired.

This event should of been a battlepass. nearly 300 USD for 3 skins... its honestly sick with the state the game is in, the time gates, the limits to what we can farm and "weeklies" hard limiting anything we can actively do... it's genuinely disappointing. tested this for over a year and we warned them for a long time that these locks and over relying on the gacha system would be a terrible idea... and now player numbers are plummetting, "end game" content is a joke and a complete broken lag mess... its a real let down.

Its a f2p game, nobody is forcing anyone to do anything, do the math. The expected pull rate of everything is 200+ pulls so you will have to do 150 spins to get everything pretty much always. Dont blame the devs for people not thinking twice.

My .4%: The game is not in any condition to even begin to justify this sort of expense (not even close to being something like SWOTOR); Also, these are digital, game-only, assets, that one can't take with them anywhere else - they're worthless outside the context of the game, so one is just throwing money away for no good reason and this is a ridiculous ask. Most people who have collected mitsukis marks are probably going to assume that theyre going to get like 8- 37 ingots or whatever for dupes, when you get way less and dont even realize the 8:1 ratio on lightforge relics to ingots. I used the discount to get 10 chests at 800... I'll be honest I'm happy rolling chests at that, but the price off discount is so unfair to poorer players.
