I always found it confounding how I could get a chinese x86 laptop for $130 with a seemingly legit windows key, keyboard mouse, screen you know a real laptop but all the x86 dev boards were starting at $250 with none of that. Glad to see something move the needle a little.

Thanks for another review. These x86 boards are great, since better chances of finding a x86 compatible container image than on a ARM board like the Rpi.

Pricing is similar to a Pi 5, after you add for the Pi: power supply, fan, RTC battery, HDMI to micro adapter, M.2 to flimsy ribbon cable. Pi used to be low power, quiet and cheap, but not anymore.

And it's faster and a bit more functional IMO. That might be up for debate though. :-)
@lllongreen Жыл бұрын
Exactly ! But but the Pi5 has a "cool" CEO that looks like Jason Stratham and did not sell out RPI Foundation to big commercial companies and abandoned the community that made them who they are now at all ! 😂

It runs openSUSE, Proxmox and a couple other OS work great on it. I been using to do OBS as well on it. I need to get cables for the dev part.

The eMMC in mine was defective. Waiting for the replacement unit to arrive. Had to pay to ship it back. Hope it’s worth the hassle

What will really excite me is when they make it so you can put this where the old hard drives used to go in the case so I can have like three or four of these babies... Of course this is going to take somebody with a BRAIN to figure out a way to implement it but there's plenty of room in the cases today and all you really need is some decent IO panels in the front from the thing it would be pretty awesome man especially if you have a door on your case.😊

Glad to see an x86 board. The Arm based processors have been frustrating for me. The pricing for this is more costly than similar mini PCs these days that come from foreign markets. I see little reason for this unless a single board is mandated

Can i only attach 2 hard drives to this board? I would love to create a 4 bay NAS if possible. if not is there anything similar to this out there that I could attach 4 hard drives to?

How does this compare with ZimaBlade? I backed the kickstarter for ZimaBlade. I wonder if this is more powerful?
@NovaspiritTech Жыл бұрын
depends on your needs, while this cpu is slighlty better in performace the zimablade is just much much easier to handle with exposed pcie and 2x sata, with usb-c pd. it's just much easiser. after all this is more of a dev board
@bogackaynak6728 Жыл бұрын
When you get your sata cable, would you instal an egpu (nvme to pcie extension) with Geforce 1650 like low end GPU. I am very curious how much performance can we gain for image processing proograms?
@风火轮-v6b Жыл бұрын
This is possible, I will test it if I have a chance.

They have a M.2 E key dual SATA adapter...so you can put 2x SATA drives on the board I got one coming with my OPi5+ :) Keep em coming!!!!

What a waste of pcie bandwidth going to that gigabit ethernet chip. Its only using 1/10 of the pcie lane. At least put 2.5g like the others lol.

Don I enjoy you videos and you do a very good job reviewing hw/sw, but this is a Chinese company. I absolutely do not trust any electronic component coming from a Chinese company. When things go south with China (and they will) I would not want to be the one pointed to promoting a piece of (spyware) electronics. There has to be something out there that is just as good if not better that is American made?
