I used to live in Ilkley which is on the edge of the Yorkshire Dales and it was a beautiful town surrounded by hills and had great cycling trials. Bolton Abbey is really beautiful as well.

First time watching your guidebooks. As a Yorkshire man living in God's own county, I can say you did a prety decent job of showing the beauty and character of the dales. And know that is high praise coming from one of the locals. Fun commentary and beautiful photography. One of the best travel vlogs on Yorkshire I have seen. Awww thank you so much! The weather was very on/off so I kept getting frustrated with the fact that most days the sun only hung around for the super bright midday, and rarely stuck around for a nice sunset 😐 so I'm glad it still ended up looking... somewhat solid 😅. Where around Yorkshire will you be travelling?

A bit of advice from someone who knows the Dales extremely well; By all means visit the tourist spots such as Grassington, Richmond, Settle, and Hawes, but you need to get away from them to see the spectacular scenery, so don't be afraid to explore, but do be aware that petrol stations are few and far between and tend to be around the edges of the National Park area. It's also worth seeing towns like Northallerton, Thirsk, and Ripon, which are just outside the Dales but near enough to get to easily. Each of them is very attractive in their own right and all have a unique character. Above all, take your time and enjoy wherever you are because it's a large area and you can't see everything in one or even several trips - I've been visiting the Dales regularly for many years and there are still places I've yet to see.

I was surprised but delighted to see Studley Royal come up. I was born in Harrogate and lived in Ripon as a small child and most of my family still lives in that area. Studley was one of my favourite places to go as a little one. My parents and grandparents would take me there to feed the ducks and watch the deer. We'd also race sticks under the bridges and down the waterfalls and in the Autumn I'd collect conkers from the chestnut trees there. My grandparents used to buy me jelly babies from the national trust shop as a treat. Some of my earliest and fondest memories were made there.

I can imagine you’d have an absolute blast at the Forbidden Corner, it’s SO STRANGE. Always love finding hidden spots that are just straight up bizarre 😂

The Dales - magnificent and LOTS to see. I was pleased to see you visited The Forbidden Corner near Middleham (you have to buy tickets before going - online is fine) and it is unique. Kids (and the young at heart) will LOVE IT. Loads of towns/villages/hills/rivers/pubs. Kettlewell, Skipton (canal boats & castle) Hawes, Reeth, Aysgarth, Falls, West.Burton with its own Cauldron Force/Falls, Leyburn with Campbell's (one of the best grocer's/butcher's/wine+spirits emporium), Bolton (Wensleydale) with its castle at which Mary Queen of Scots was kept prisoner.etc etc. Richmond Castle is one of the best of all with a wonderful keep. Masham has brewery tours of its Theakstons and Black Sheep Breweries. Middleham has not only the nearby TFC but also Richard III's castle, "the Gallops" used by the trainers of the local thoroughbred race horses and one of the very best fish+chips shops. So much to see. Luckily not so packed out as the Lake District So glad you were able to come to "my area". But if you want to come to the North York Moors as well....steam trains, pubs, castles, abbeys and of course, the glory that is Whitby!

In the 70's I saw the three peaks for the first time when my parents went on holiday to Leyburn and we traveled around and went to Horton-in-Ribblesdale, the next year that's where we stayed, I climbed Pen-y-ghent several times and ran up and back down once (1h:57minutes) I was quiet proud of that time. After that I went into north yorkshire by rail with my bike and a small tent, cycled and walked everywhere. In order of difficulty I would say that Inglebrough is the most demanding followed by Pen-y-ghent and lastly Whernside, I haven't claimed them since they have had decent paths made. A confession, Wesleydale cheese isn't a favourite of mine 😮 I eat it still, just not my first choice. I would love to go again with my beagle but she doesn't like being in a trailer behind the bike, a cottage seems like the only alternative but that restricts us to being close to the railway unfortunately :/ Love the videos, I'm pleased to have found your channel :)

I'm considering it for my masters and just wanted to know if you liked it, also, does it have good reputation? I was between Brighton and Napier Uni and it seems like Napier is becoming much better.

It's still seen as a very practical, no-nonsense university - you go there to learn how to do a job, and then you will likely get that job. I don't think prestige is a huge part of the mix, but it's definitely respectable!

The Dales National Park does not include all the Yorkshire dales. Indeed Pately Bridge and Nidderdale were deliberately excluded f rom the NP. The North York Moors National Park includes many dales, including Danby Dale where, as late as the 1880's, the locals didn't speak English. Canon Atkinson was installed in the Parish and records that only his steward could communicate directly with him - his parishioners spoke a dialect related to Danish (via Viking settlers over a thousand years ago)..

5:17 Goes to the land that is synonymous with tea drinking and complains about the coffee. I know what you mean, though. I visited the Rhone Valley and couldn't find a decent local malt whisky. 8:39 visits English pubs and has a whinge about English pub cuisine. I know what you mean, though. I went to a Bavarian beer festival in October and there were just too many sausages. 11:14 Visits a creamery famous for its cow's milk cheese - it even has a cow on its signage - and moans that it's not sheep's cheese. I know what you mean, though. My local butcher has a surprising lack of vegan options. Can't watch anymore of this whining about an area not bending to meet this person's specific tastes. Stay at home love. You can have everything you want and exactly how you like it. I may come back for the beautiful footage and turn the commentary off.

My job is to relay the situation to other people. Some people are vegetarian, so I like to mention when there’s veggie meals. My regular watchers are interested in coffee culture, so I give them a warning. For someone who’s new here you’re being very rude, and unfortunately you do remind me of the one thing I indeed did not enjoy in the Dales. You love to throw around fun little metaphors, so here’s one for you: this comment is the equivalent of you coming to my house, complimenting 9 things and then saying that I probably could call someone over to give the windows a little clean, and me getting so offended that I tell you that you can come over again but only if you don’t open your mouth once. Again, incredibly rude.

Her comments are her opinion, which she's free to express on her own channel. You're welcome to share your thoughts, it only helps with the algorithm afterall, but I wonder what your life must be like, to take umbrage over such tiny differences of opinion than your own?
