I found adding a bit of white pearl mica powder (or gold worked too) to any color will make it metallic. You make need more of the original color but it works just fine if you are out of the mica powder you want. So if you don't have iridescent medium, try that.
@naminea24802 жыл бұрын
With the iridescent medium, water, gum arabicum and mica powder I make my own wink of Stella. Just mix it and leave it in a watertankbrush. Shake before use and enjoy

Hi Ann. Do you know that the brush you are using, the barrel can be unscrewed and filled with water. The water is dispensed by squeezing the barrel slightly. It is much easier to use that way.

Hey Ann Great video love all the tips and making your own. When you make the paints appently if you use Clove Oil to the mix it stops it going off or getting a fungus. I was watching an artist make their own paints they also added honey. Just some more info for you incase you do make your own. So pleased you are back making great video's for us. Take care xxx

I use Liquitex's brand of Iridescent Medium, but I think they're both the same. I use just a drop with water & gum arabic inside my waterbrush pen for a DIY of wink of stella. But I've never thought of using the Iridescent Medium to make watercolor paint look metallic. Great idea! Thanks Ann! And thanks Kitty, for inspecting the water bowl! 😊 Janet 💕

You've done it again Ann, reinvigorated our enthusiasm for stash we've had and forgotten why we bought it 🤔🙂🙃 Hoping I can find the gum arabic in my local craft store, have the other ingredients already to hand 🤗🤗 First thing to try will be the paint and embossing folder, just loved how those turned out. Will also have a go using the irridescent paint on craft card....ohhhhh, can't wait to go play. Thank you so very much Ann, you make crafting fun and adventurous once more. Love your generosity in sharing with us.

Really like this idea. With regard to the pink showing blue on the black, it might be that you've used an interference mica powder which will show as one colour on white and a totally different colour on black.

I watched video's recently showing mixing of cosmic shimmer opal polishes on white and black cards and oh boy I couldn't believe it was the same colour as the transformation of some of the shades were magic particularly on the black cards. The black most definitely changed many of the colours and made them pop. The rainbow effect cards and die cuts were nice as was embossing. I have never tried them but i was most definitely in awe of the transformation. The swatch sample cards were an eye opener. I wondered whether old metallic eye shadow might work as well. Tfs Ann x

I really like your tips and tricks. I will try it with my mica powders. Are you sure that the ingredients of the blending solution are only isopropyl and glycerin. I think Tim Holtz talked also about something like a resin inside of the solution. But I am not sure. I tried isopropyl and glycerin with alcohol inks and it didn’t work the same. With the blending solution the mixture of colours were much better. But perhaps I made a mistake with my own mixture. Your own mica shimmer colours in your palette are amazing. Such a good idea. Thank you for sharing. Greetings from Germany

Thank you Ann for this video. It has encouraged me to use my mica powders in a new way. I do have a query which I hope you can answer me. It is what plates do you use on your Sizzix machine? They seem to stay flat, where as mine are so warped. Your plates appear speckled. Are they new? Thank you in advance
@lorettafritz69922 жыл бұрын
I just saw new plates for sale at Hobby Lobby. Not sure where you are but they had both clear and glitter. I flip my plates over when I see a bit of warping. It puts pressure the opposite way and helps straighten it out. Good luck 🤞
