Pretty much settled on 7lb, but I use the Daiwai Samurai Hidden line. Its little pricey but works great...

Typically 10# P Line is what I use for plastics but will drop to 8#. The only time I go heavier up to 12# or more is topwater lures. Keeps the bait straight with less foul hooks than braided line. Of course I'm the guy throwing 3-4 inch craws and jigs for creek and smaller rivers at the smallies. Just my 2 cents.

8# is my go-to most of the time. I will switch to 10-14 if I'm throwing to brush , laydowns, weeds, etc with the vmc weedless neko hook. I made the switch from O-rings to the Vmc pliers and tubes this year. I throw a wacky or neko rig here in Arkansas 2-3x @ week and can say that the Vmc tool and( tubes, saddles, rings, whatever the f they are) were definitely worth the purchase.

I got to get a pair of those pliers and some tubes, I am tired of losing worms when the fish snatches it out of the o ring. I wish I could use light line in more places down here in Florida, but most of my spots have so much brush and vegetation it's just to easy to break off.

I use straight 30 lb braid and have no problems getting bit on a wacky but I’m in grass.

Most of the time I use only 10 pound test just because I like to keep it as low as possible without going too thin. Good tips though.
