The screeching noise on start up is because the belt attached to your alternator is slipping. When it is damp it is more noticeable, till it dries out. There should be very limited free play about half an inch in the longest run. All you have do is Campbell, loosen the two bolts on the alternator and the bracket bolt and pull the alternator forwards until there is just about half an inch up and down free play on the belt. Then in this position tighten all the 3 bolts. Basically as it now stands without intervention you could be limiting power from the alternator to your battery. Best to to do this asap.

This brings back many memories from 1969! Went to Diabeg on a holiday on/in my dad's motorbike and sidecar! The roads were all single track from Garve north. There was a 1:3 hill to get to Diabeg and we all had to get out so the bike and sidecar could get up the hill!. Dropping down into Diabeg my mum needed the toilet. She talked to a local who took her behind a building and pointing to the field said "Pick you spot" Priceless memories. It was a gorgeous little village and I haven't been back since. Shame on me. I live in Seattle now but will be back in Scotland next year walking the cape wrath trail. Maybe I take a detour! Love seeing the places you visit in Scotland. Always brings back fond memories!

It sounds to me like the engine fan belt is loose so slipping in the morning when it and the pulleys are cold. A relatively easy and quick fix if u nip it to a garage. 😎👍
@highlands2hammocks2 жыл бұрын
Great thanks 😁 will mention it at our next visit
@ipirrie67342 жыл бұрын
It does sound like a slipping belt. Extra strain on the alternator first thing, damp belt and pulleys will cause slipping. I would wait too long to get it checked. If it snaps you have no engine battery charging , you'll probably get away with no fan cooling in winter in Scotland

Just discovered your channel by chance. Seems good so gonna subscribe and check out some vids. Totally agree with you the Scottish Highlands are the best place on Earth. Raising all my kids here watching them grow up and explore everything around them is amazing. I have traveled a lot of the world but I couldn’t think of anywhere better to be. I head south to Inverness sometimes but being nestled up here amongst the landscape suits me fine so I don’t even tend to go that far south too often anymore. My travelling days are for the most part done as, for now at least, I am actually 100% content just being here and the need to travel has totally gone. Just living day to day, watching my kids grow, roaming locally, walking, wild camping and just taking all the time in the world to enjoy the most amazing place I have ever known. We really are so lucky and blessed to live here 🙏🏼

I really like these uploads Gemma and Campbell. There's no place like Scotland, that is for sure. The scenery, the nature, the people, towns and cities... fantastic indeed. Friendly chats and funny banter, the Scots like to interact and to have a laugh at each other's expense. That my friends is tradition that through hardships, has not been lost over the years. Did I mention the many dog friendly pubs? It's not for everyone, but to some, it is truly God's country. Alba gu bràth!

Fabulous. My "heart home" in the highlands, I've been visiting Gairloch since I was a bairn staying out on Lonemore. Will definitely try out Crumbs Veggie Haggis roll next time I'm up, we often get our sandwiches for a day's hiking from there. We also knew the head gardner from Inverewe Gardens and I used to play in those gardens as a child with their children. Diabaig is a very special place (though the road out there is "challenging"). It's a beautiful walk from Red Point through Craig and to Diabaig along the coast. Did you know Diabaig is actually the filming location for "Loch Ness"?

Hi guys - Gemma, Campbell - hope you both are doing well! I've been watching your KZbin vlogs for a long time, now how you record your 'VanLife' is fascinating - I'm 23 years of age, and I've been into Motorhomes / Caravans since I was a young boy - for a young man like me at 23, is it natural to live in a Motorhome (full time), or is it a bit weird? Just simply asking as you've inspired me to do it myself, how did use 2 feel doing it all at 1st? Because I don't want to be doing it where I feel like; friends, work colleagues and other's start bantering me for having a vehicle to live in.
@highlands2hammocks2 жыл бұрын
Hey Daniel! We are great thank you 😊 Thanks for the support! It is absolutely not weird, there is such a growing community of vanlifers and it is widely becoming more accepted as a lifestyle. In any case, if it is something that you wish to do then never let those around you hold you back with their judgement. At the end of the day, the only opinion that actually has any impact on your life is your own, so make yourself proud and happy with what you do 😊 We had a similar upbringing you yourself, with frequent caravan holidays, and we love the lifestyle. It can take some getting used to at first but at the end of the day , if you don't enjoy it then find a house and be happy knowing that you gave it a shot 😁
@danielcarter23752 жыл бұрын
Hi guys, thank you for the comment / reply back. Really do appreciate it! It's since I was a little child, I was just madly in with Motorhomes and Caravan - though everyone is different in what they find interesting. And the way you've inspired me to get a Motorhome, how you do your own VanLife times - just incredible! But once again, thanks for the advice, all the best to you both and I will keep watching the Vlogs. P.S. If you wanna mention my name and talk about what I asked about in your videos - more insight and more help for sure.
