I never thought of taking the headphones off and placing them in front and mixing!

I don’t blame you, it’s definitely an “thinking outside of the box” solution that I somehow figured out once I realized proximity was a big issue with mixing in headphones 👀

Nice. Do you use a specific correction plugin like the Sonarworks or something else for the EQ correction? Curious to know what tools have been working for you

I use Morphit from Tone Boosters they have a preset for them but that preset needs some fixing but you have customization button so you can edit how you want it to be.

ill say use your most fun speakers or headphones to create but finalise the mixing by using loads of different devices back and forth headphones and speakers. also a great reference track helps, reason im saying this is no speaker or headphone is perfect they all have their own sound signatures and some you might love certain things about them some you might like only another thing about them but they all help.

Which mac is best for pro tools ?maybe old ones?

As someone who just upgraded from an old 2012 MacBook Pro to a 2023 M3 MacBook Pro Max - the difference is night and day. I wouldn't compromise on a good computer - its literally the hub for all things you need to execute your work. My old Mac was becoming super problematic - very loud fans, often sluggish, couldn't pull audio fast enough from the drive, software was becoming too dated and couldn't install the new OS, and a whole bunch of other problems that I never even worry about with my new MacBook. The problem is often the price. Older Macs look more appealing because they tend to be significantly cheaper (and used), while new Mac's are expensive. For context, I dropped over $7K (CAD) on my decked out M3 Max (2TB SSD, 64GB RAM, top tier Max chip). It's not for everyone - but for me, it's been an excellent investment that has made my audio and video work so much easier and more efficient. It used to take me 48 hours to render a video as long as this one - now it's done in 5 minutes. Pro Tools never hiccups. Everything is butter smooth. My only issue was at first some software was acting a bit funky because they clearly didn't catch up to the M3 architecture yet (which seems to be happening now). I'd go new Mac over old Mac in a heartbeat - but that's just me. You also don't need to go M3 Max like I did. I'm sure an M3 Pro, or even a slightly used / older M1 or M2 would be more than sufficient if all you're working on is audio. There's tons of great KZbin videos from other creators comparing these if you're inclined to do more research. Also - don't feel obligated to get a Mac unless you absolutely love it and can't work on anything else. It may be worth looking into a PC instead - your dollar will go much further there to be honest, and is less restricted.

Used to! I’ve paused them for now but will be reopening soon / offering group coaching around specific mixing problems (like mixing vocals over 2 track beats for example). Stay tuned to the channel for a future announcement on that! 👊🏼

@5piece brilliant tips ,what do you think ATH-M50x headphones ? which im going to use with sound ID for headphones , and as a reference plugin Reference 2 by mastering the mix ? as I do have ozone 11 but been told R2 is better ?
@5piece
@5piece 19 күн бұрын
It’s been awhile since I used the AT M50X but overall I liked them. I did find them to be a bit hyped in some frequency areas, so look into the frequency response and be aware of that. They may have altered the design though since I last used them to fix some of that so my apologies if I’m not 100% correct in my analysis here. In terms of referencing plugins - there’s certainly a few. I think the one you mentioned and Metric AB are both very simple and straightforward ones to use but Ozone 11s is also just as good. Really it boils down to the workflow you prefer. If you can demo all of the above, do that and then make the right choice for you. For me, it could go either way (or even go old school - just import ref track into DAW and mute/solo when needed) Hope this helps!
