You didn't mention that EVERYONE is armed. Even the children in strollers and the grandma that is pushing it. The greeter at Walmart, the pastor at your church, the nuns and school teachers. EVERYONE is armed and conceal carry is allowed without permit. If you don't like guns or they terrify you, this is not the place for you. Gun racks in trucks are usually full (especially during hunting season) . No matter how hard you try, that won't change.

Well after living in Cheyenne for 45 years you got it right. Moved to Bellvue co. 5 years ago and snowbird in the winter. 1st 2nd and third day of wind is a bummer. 4 th day I am totally sick of it. 5th day I have to be crazy to live here. This is why Wyoming will always have about 1/2 million people in the whole state.

I am looking at the area... My son joined the Space Force and will be in Colorado. I don't want to live in Colorado, so I am looking at Cheyenne... For a few reasons, I am a Texan and I live in a city called Pleasanton "THE BIRTH PLACE OF THE COWBOY" so I feel Cheyenne will be just like Texas, my wife and I are also military veterans and you have a nice VA Hospital there I am told. The thing about the winds, I know how that is I grew up in El Paso TX, and we would get 60+mph winds off the mountain in the winter time, the kind of winds that will blow right through your clothes skin straight to the bone. I also love the idea of fewer people, working in Law Enforcement, I have a different opinion of people, seeing the under belly of society kinda does that to a person. But hey I have babbled long enough, just wanted to say thanks for the heads up of what to expect... hope to see ya around town. Be well.

I like Cheyenne...it's one place I can wear a cowboy hat and boots and not feel out of place. Going to Frontier Days is on my bucket list. You nailed one reason that I could never convince the wife to move there: the wind. It's awful. Add to that the often bitter cold winters and there are two real negatives. Housing isn't cheap, also. But the small town atmosphere and cowboy culture make me envious.

So far, in all the Wyoming winter videos I have seen, no one is wearing a scarf around their lower face. Depending on the collar of your coat, it may mean a 2nd scarf but you have to bundle up anyways. You can breath a LOT easier than without it...

@@livingincheyennewyoming2341 - if it works during a windy Racine Wisconsin winter day where the wind chill gets -40 or lower, it will work for anyone in Wyoming... Didn't have my scarf the first time there, took 2 steps from my truck, and immediately returned as I couldn't breathe. Used my hand to cover my nose and mouth to make it to the building, which wasn't even 25 yards from where I parked...

Absolutely the wind blows, no fooling around, thats definitely the worst part I think. Best part is its only 19 miles to the Colorado border, about 90 to downtown Denver--it has EVERYTHING and even so thing you WANT!! Traffic, traffic, traffic!!! Cheyenne is slow and behind times but at least people are mostly friendly and real!! Depends on what you want ,theres still pleanty of beer in Little Cheyenne!! Ha
