It depends on where you go. Bigger cities are, as it is EVERYWHERE, more expensive than the provinces or smaller cities. I've lived in Cebu, Baguio, and Malaybalay (Mindanao). Cebu was most expensive, Baguio was cheaper, and in some cases REALLY cheap (like strawberries), and Malaybalay was the cheapest of them all. So, it's true it CAN be more expensive, but it's also true that where you are, where you shop, and HOW you shop makes a difference. I always had my wife do the shopping, and it would be cheaper than if I did the shopping, due to the skin tax you often (not always) encounter. I was mostly treated well in the Philippines. I never had any problems in Malaybalay (except for a lot of staring and the skin tax). I also had so many people be nice and kind to me in Baguio. I love Baguio so much... the people there were ALL so nice. I never had one bad experience in over 6 months living there. Cebu was the worst place, as I'd had several problems like your friend with the court to play sports. I've always felt that people in the country, in any country, are friendlier and nicer than people in cities, in general. There are obviously nice people everywhere, and I had many good experiences in Cebu as well.

This is really an eye-opener! Most of the ex pats living in the Philippines post videos that make it seem like a virtual paradise as long as you can cope with certain things you won’t have that you used to have back home. Other than that they speak mostly about the incredible warmth and welcoming ways of the Filipino people.

I came across your channel yesterday, you're so honest and very logical with your videos. Regarding this video well done for being so honest and real with us foreigners about the Philippines in depth the reasons not to move there. I was going to move there this year I'm 36 years old, but changed my mind because I am a very outspoken person and I don't let anything that I think is wrong off easily. And being a foreigner and being strong minded and always having strong thoughts can have an effect on me and I wouldn't like to get in any trouble in the Philippines. I have been to the Philippines twice i liked it and enjoyed it, but living there would be a different ball game. And yes the Philippines is a cash society as well and we all love cash but carrying cash is also risky because it can be dropped or whatever etc. So my decision is nope I'm not going there I'll explore different countries so far been to 45 countries. By the way you are very respectful and beautiful and informative to your viewers, cheers and bye from London England UK.

I think that part of the reason why service in stores is so slow is because that's the way it is all over the country. They don't have to improve their service because no other stores will serve the customers any faster. So the customer doesn't have a choice but to wait. In the US, for example, there might be 4 or 5 stores all selling the same things. So, to compete for the customers they have to be cheap and fast and have plenty of quantities of each item on hand. That competition forces the store to improve their service.

11:13 I can well believe this; many Filipinos actually don't like foreigners, especially male Filipinos (and for the easily triggered Filipinos who read a comment and then reply ''not all are like that'', *pay attention to the word MANY,* which is not ALL.. obviously); the way foreigners are so frequently looked at as targets to be ripped off says a lot, that you are not truly, sincerely ''liked'' but stored up for financial disrespect at every opportunity. And well-noted, when Filipinos are in the UK or US or Australia or France, eg, people do not treat them like this. And being poorer is no excuse. As a well-travelled guy, Monte Negro was considered poor, take away tourism for a summer and they would feel it quite hard, but the people were nice, never tried to mistreat you or rip you off; in Manila\Makati it was almost impossible to take a taxi without being told *''300 pesos on top''* by a bunch of greedy and dishonest drivers. If you insist on the fare-meter they kick you out. Or, they agree the cost of fare with the Apartment guards who know how much a journey should cost, you get in, but the moment the taxi drivers turns the corner they turn around all sleazy like: "it will be 300 php on top, OK?" You disagree, the correct fare has been established. He replies: ''Ah.. well you have to find another taxi''. It was the same story with nearly every single taxi driver. Such disrespect tells you clearly: many of the Filipino people don't like you\us. Because first and foremost that is what they are: Filipinos, regardless of their job. I live in Norway, and this stuff would never happen here to foreigners.

Metro Manila Taxi drivers are extremely greedy. I was last there in 2015-2016 I arrived at MNL Airport on December 15, 2015 it was raining and a Typhoon 🌀 was already moved away from Manila area. After checking in at the customs counter and gathering my luggage I met my Filipina ex-girlfriend, we found a Taxi Van to take us to my hotel in Makati City which is less than 10 kilometers away. The Taxi driver looked at my ex-gf and told her in Tagalog the fare would be 3500 pesos. I immediately told him that I already know how much the fare should be and I told my ex-gf lets go find another Taxi. The taxi driver was shocked and started to lower his rate to 2000 pesos and he was saying that because of the Typhoon and Christmas season that was why the rate is so high. I told my ex-gf to tell the driver I am not going to pay that amount. So we got out of the Van and the driver started to lower his rate again this time it was 1200 pesos. It was after 10 PM and I was tired, so I reluctantly agreed to his rate only because it was bad rainy weather and I just wanted to get to my hotel room. Well the next day I was talking with a very helpful Filipina hotel desk clerk and I told her about how much the Taxi driver had charged me to come from the Airport to my hotel, she said sir you should never pay more than 400 pesos on average. That my friends is a true story and living testimony to the corrupt greedy Taxi drivers in the Metro Manila area! 🙄
@-BigIi-
@-BigIi- 2 жыл бұрын
@@DarkKhagan By what I wrote above I know exactly what you mean. But in your case - like WoW! 😮 - that was such a greedy price to ask in the first place. Imagine, from Manila, if the driver is not being greedy, you can get to travel all the way to Tagaytay for 2500 (the driver would even offer to drive you back since no taxi service exists in Tagaytay), but the real price is about 1000php, and that my friend is quite a distance (nearly 70 miles - 1hr 30mins). But in your case, from Ninoy international airport to the Makati, asking you for 3500pesos just leaves me speechless. I noted how greedy and corrupt they are from the first time I travelled there. One thing though, the only city I know of where this sort of stuff has been stamped out is Davao; every taxi driver I came across used his meter. I think the government got tired of the complaints and tried to do something about it. Also, Duterte is from Davao.. and it was said that this is one of the reasons it was so thoroughly stamped out there. But in Manila it still happens, with many corrupt taxi drivers always trying to find a way to cheat tourists, adding all sorts of counting devices to their meter to make it clock a higher fare. If caught the consequences are severe, but still this form of widespread corruption continues in Manila. I've decided never to return to that place, and so many prostitutes :\ I got tired of dodging all that - another thing you don't get so blatantly on the streets of Davao; not a single prostitute approached me there. Have a great day.

I have travelled your country from Manila to Davao I have been to all the main Islands I have seen a lot of your country and I would 100% recommend it . There are lots of beautiful places to stay and eat at a very affordable price but you have to do your research first. I agree some places are noisy traffic , dogs barking , roosters and the one I find the worst is the karaoke , but ear plugs work good :) I live in Canada ( I am not Canadian I am from the UK ) if you were staying in my home a very nice townhouse you would hear traffic all the time in the back yard as you know you get used to it. I am not sure where you were in France but I have never found France cheap , I go back to Europe every year England , Ireland and Spain and I can't believe how the cost has gone up so much. Well its been 2+ years since I was in Asia because of covid but I hope to be back travelling later this year. I was just in Cebu for one month, my fifth visit to Cebu. Yes she is very special! Anyway so covid is going on and we're going to use the condo towers gym. But the number of people is limited to the small gym and you must schedule on the appointment book kept at the guards desk. When the book is full already, it's just no problem for me. I love to adapt and find another way. In this case, the two condominium towers are 14 stories. Solution: Run the stairs! After each up and down do a little recovery loop around the drive-thru gate lobby area, and then back up you go! It's really better than the gym because the view improves with each flight of stairs 😄😄 And you know the only people running those stairs were me and my girlfriend. So with one simple decision we showed that we are resilient, and we were the only ones running those stairs 😂😂 Anytime the gym was already booked, it was time to run the stairs! Adopt and overcome. Change the tack of your sailboat and find fresh wind.

After watching hundreds, if not thousands, of videos now, one thing I've noticed is the difference in people's behaviors towards Filipino vloggers and foreigners. Most people turn away from the camera and don't interact with a Filipino vlogger, but they all jump in front of the camera and talk to foreigners. I think that would be an interesting video to see, you go to a market and vlog and see how the vendors interact with you, do they turn away from the camera or not talk to you, then a bit later have a foreigner go to the same place vlogging and see how they react.

What was so attractive about the Philippines years ago is no longer, I highly doubt tourism will ever go back to the Philippines the way it used to be, 4 out of five people that I talk to, said that they would not return to the Philippines that's sad, but it's also a good thing because it lets foreigners know that the Philippines isn't what they think,

You're so right! Pinas has changed so very much in those late 15 years. Pinoy who really hate foreigners are growing more and more in the country without even thinking that if now the economy of the country is doing much better compare 10 years ago is just because of all the OWF living in westerns countries sending money home. I've been living in the province there for quiet few years and now cannot afford it anymore and also (maybe cause i'm aging) I can't stand the noise, the dirt and smells and lack of a minimal hygene mostly everywhere. I'm so sorry cause mostly I used to like and miss pinoy lifestyle and attitude. I also experienced a lot of jelosy in my neighborhood and other feelings that makes me feel pretty discriminated. Last but not least the weather is too hot there and impossible to stand unless you stay inside with aircon which brings to high cost of electricity bills much more cheaper here in Italy with a climate of only two months of heat per year. Without considering the variety of food I can have here everyday. Nevertheless Pinas remain the best country and Pinoy the best ever people I met in my life. I learn a lot there.. I whish I could stay more but... things changes during a lifetime! I am happy at least to still have my Pinay Wife and Daughter living with me in my country. Daghan Kaajo Salamat! Assimilation? Foreigners come to the USA to make money to send home and then retire back home taking generous benefits with them never intending to assimilate, only taking advantage of western generosity. No other country in the world gives from its citizens to others as much as the USA. Mexican workers send $50 billion per year back to Mexico. Immigrants to the USA should be treated the same as USA citizens are treated in their countries. Can't own land, can't work, must learn local language, no social benefits, no healthcare, and on and on.....

@@Niftynorm1 I agree assimilation has changed to this toxic, divisive, idea, of multiculturalism. Multiracial is fine, but multiculturalism is a terrible idea. It removes everything that bonds a community and creates many individual, isolated, communities - within a larger community. It’s why there’s now so much bigotry, hatred and misunderstandings all over the Western world. 🤦🏻‍♂️

You are correct with saying about Flippino's abroad they are treated as welcome guests. However that is not shown back. Most people have a family member abroad. Respect is earnt not given. If it carries on the disrespect shown maybe returned. Considering the Multi-billions of PHP that foreigners spend in the country and that is sent from abroad to the nation. Then due respect should be shown. Beautiful country and many decent ppl my Fiancée is from the Philippine's.

@@Rubeauti -- Inefficiencies create opportunities.---- therefore ,the opportunity created 2 jobs instead if just 1……. In advanced economies, farming is so advanced, that even only ONE farmer can work about 50 hectares of Rice land. Dogs barking or roosters crowing are not strange to some of the more rural areas of the US. In cities, yes, but to people like me, that live in rural Tennessee, it's nothing new. And burning trash used to be quite common back when I was a kid. In some places here, it still is. So while such things might be strange to people living in, say, Chicago, or Miami... and even Nashville, outside of that it really isn't. You just do what the situation requires.
