I wanted to see ecological population graphs. Like Biomass totals of wild mammals, fisheries, insects, elephants in the Sarangeti. The status of food webs. For me that's the part that humans whether they know it or not, are tied to our natural world. Without a healthy natural world, you will not have a healthy human world. Just as example, in my life alone, co2 ppm has only ever gone up at an increasing rate, from about 340ppm co2 to 420ppm co2 in my life alone. Cuz if these rivers dry out and destroy our breadbasket regions, we are collectively fucked to the tune of several billion people. And there aint 1800s era hunting grounds if we wanna go live in the woods either.
... and if you talk really fast, no one can questions the fallacies.

lol, nice sentiment , and I agree with your statement, but in my experience people like this are not only, not welcomed in this world, but ostracized. People don't want to accept someone is smarter, or more moral or happier. They especially will not accept someone being happier if the person they are judging has less wealth and/or achievements. The self righteousness is so ingrained. The basic attitudes I see, in friends, family, acquaintances, service reps, strangers is, "You don't want anything different than what I have, you are just bitter because you are not as good or smart as me. Even if one is not bitter, or has no complaints, they learn to look down at others, because if they had the person's life they would consider themselves losers, or not smart enough. Even if it's someone who has lived their life volunteering to help sick children. They are put in a position to have to accept either they are not a good person, or that their ideas are not the only way to design success or intelligence. A successful person won't do that. Also, I don't want to hurt anyone, so anything I do is ok. And communicating means not speaking your real opinion, not speaking more than 1 or 2 sentences(like this comment. Long comments regularly get me insults. Info has to be short, packaged and deliverable, or it's not valid.), not knowing something that someone else doesn't, or knowing a better way to do something they are doing. Not talking animated or with passion, cz that means you want attention, or love or own voice. The truth is they are insecure, fearful, petty, brainless drones, boring and spiritually lost, in a void of meaning and purpose. They are threatened by anyone that knows how to really smile, and is free of their ego, hypocrisy and judging others.Truth is it's easier to be quiet, and selfish, to make assumptions and feed their own fantastical narrative. I truly believe humans are naturally more like Hans then not, but 95% of the population suffers from mental disorders that culture has created in them. The culture of outdoing the next guy, being cool, being loved and idolized. Honest, selfless, respectful, non-judgemental, supportive, consistent with advertised beliefs, sensitive to others suffering, smart, articulate.... These people are eaten alive in this world, and hypocrisy, wow. Do not make a change in your life for the purpose of trying to be a better person, and then explain your decision to someone who isn't willing to make the same change, they will burn a person at the stake before admit the logic is irrefutable, or they are doing something wrong. " What do you know? You think you are sooo smart." lol Losers, the people you are referring to, people who are not Hans Rosling, are losers, plain and simple. Peace P.S. In Europe everyone talks like that. Go to Germany, they are so colorful and passionate. I know it sounds wrong, but they are so miserable because they are surrounded by emotional deciders, a.k.a.morons

Makes you realise that all the money we in the west give to charities isn’t being used correctly. Most of it is wasted on “administration” costs which means salaries for those at the top of each charity. The rest goes to things that are unnecessary and usually get taken by the military in each country and bribes for public officials. Just imagine if all that money we have been donating for 50 years went to stuff they can actually use. A bicycle for every villager out in the country, a water purifier like a Berkey system, a Bio-lite stove, a solar panel + battery and a light for inside their home and more. They don’t need a hand out they need a hand up. If given the means they will lift themselves up out of poverty. When I was growing up a man came to our house asking for donations to buy food for the starving people in Africa. My mother told him she would give money but only if it was used for birth control so they would stop having so many kids. With fewer kids there would be enough food. She was an interesting person.

Well, he couldn't foresee in 2014 that solar power was going to become cheaper than coal power, and could give power to these villages without even installing a grid. Why on earth is this video age-restricted? It is truthful and accurate information that is well-presented and should be seen by anyone at any age in any country.

I'd love to see this study again but with modern, 2019 statistics.

Didn't expect to fall in love with this documentary so much. Wish he was here today, we need an updated video on Covid-19 and depression in children :(
my teacher was his student for like 2 years . Today she showed my class this but in parts that was only like 20 mins or so . i came home and decided to finsh watching this . i will say i loved it , yes bad things are happening in world and i didnt really think how any one can change it . but this professor who i didt even know existed has open my eyes and now seeing how things can change for the better . even tho professor Hans Rosling passed away in 2017 , i still believe that he had more ideas and different points of veiws on this world we call home.
I'm coming back to this video after watching It in school two years ago. I'm still fascinated by it and think it was one of the most interesting videos I've watched in school before.

I really have to wrack my brain to remember a family in the 20-40 age group that has more than one child. Less birth means less future consumers and means less second, trird and fourth tier job opportunities. Shrinking the base of the socioeconomic pyramid does not eliminate inequality, but causes a section of the top of the pyramid to fill lower tier positions, and the bottom of the pyramid looses their opportunities to ascend to a higher tier.

Extremely impressed with the graphics used in this presentation and equally impressed with the presentation skills of Hans and his energy. I had to go home for lunch at around 2 pm when this video started on my PC after I had watched Steven Pinker's TED video. Mr Hans presentation was so mesmerizing that I just sat spell bound and watched through the entire 58.50 minutes. Thank you so much Mr Hans for enlightening us in such a beautiful manner.
