Things more polluting than Diwali fireworks: 1. The food that you eat - yes, the industrial farming that has become the norm in Punjab and Haryana is more polluting than fireworks. 2. The meat that you eat - Meat eating is the greatest threat to global warming and biggest reason of global pollution. Abandoning beef itself can save the planet. 3. The car that you drive - Your car exhausts more fume every day than all the fireworks you can light on Diwali. 4. The AC that you use - Even on for a few hours a day it consumes more electricity which burns more fossil fuel in one way or the other than you can ever spend on a Diwali occasion. 5. The geyser, oven, heater and toaster that you use. 6. The Bakrid that you celebrate - for more pollution is created in rearing slaughter animals for many years before they are finally butchered on Bakrid. 7. The Christmas that you celebrate - for a humungous amount of trees are cut and environment is polluted for celebrating Christmas. 8. The New Year that you celebrate - the sheer waste of resources that is done on this day is stupendously higher than Diwali. 9. The colourful plastic stool that you use in your bathroom - the 7 different factories that it took to make that stool with artificial colors and chemicals and all the transport that it took for that stool to reach from a Chinese factory to your bathroom makes it far more polluting than Diwali firecrackers. 10. The mobile that you use - for the frequency with which we discard them makes them a bio-hazard. 11. The TV set that you use - for we get bored of them, throw them away and buy new ones. 12. The refrigerator that you use - for they have to be dumped once you are done with it in four or five years at best and they remain there for hundreds of years. 13. The computer that you use to write or read these posts - for the same reason as mobiles. 14. The home-delivery that you get from amazon - all the transportation and the fuel that goes into it, all the packaging and the trees that need to be cut. 15. The BigBasket that you use - all the plastic wrapped around every single capsicum and tomato is more polluting than Diwali firecrackers. 16. The fruits that you eat - Avocadoes aren’t grown in your city or village. It has to be shipped across seven seas. Same is true of most fruits that we eat today and also about those which are out of season. 17. The flight that you take - Flying is an incredibly costly way to travel, environmentally speaking. 18. The road trip that you take - Taking a car to the next city or even to your work is more polluting than Diwali fireworks. 19. The jeans that you wear - More plastic goes into your ‘clothes’ than you have ever thought about. Jeans is almost half plastic. And it is more polluting than fireworks. 20. The flowers that you send to your beloved - To maintain a flower shop and send those flowers in a truck is more polluting than Diwali fireworks. 21. The honeymoon trip to Bali - The honeymoon trip to Diwali with ‘hubby’ that you take is far far far more polluting than any fireworks ever can be. 22. The birthday bash you threw last month - Parties consume and waste more resources than can ever be used in firecrackers. 23. The beers that you are used to have every evening - Beer cans and bottles create more waste than any Diwali firecrackers can. 24. The restaurants that you are used to go to every weekend - a ‘candle-light’ ‘romantic’ dinner is heavier on the environment than any Diwali fireworks can be. The sheer amount of electricity, fuel and use and throw items that a restaurant uses is huge. 25. The democracy that you are used to - Maintaining democracy, holding elections, sustaining democratic institutions is far more polluting than any Diwali firecracker can be. But we still do all of these things, for we think that these things are non-negotiable. That they are our rights. And yet we hammer at Diwali and all other Hindu festivals. What is wrong with our planet is our entire lifestyle. To go hammer and tongs after Hindu festivals and Hindu festivals only is nothing but sheer naked racism. To keep quiet in this onslaught is nothing but quiet acceptance of ethnocide which will ultimately lead to genocide. Oppose we do. And rise we shall. All enemies of dharma shall stand defeated at last. But we need to do our part. We need to resist.

But u know about SHRADA MASA ( श्राद मास) , after that KARTIK MASA our ancestor goes heaven , on DIWALI DAY we light them to help them to see path to heaven. This is called ULKAVARSHANAM in our scriptures. It is all written. We simply follow our tradition, I usually not brust crackers but now I start after giving GYAN by celebrities.

Just saw a video by Acharya Prashant, where he said 'श्री राम चंद्र 14 वर्ष तक शॉपिंग कर रहे थे क्या? तो उनके त्यौहार पर आप शॉपिंग करने काहें निकल पड़ते है, तुक क्या है? उनको तो बेचारों को, वस्त्र भी ना जाने कहा से उयलब्ध होते होंगे, कोई भरोसा नहीं | चलते चलते किसी ऋषि के आश्रम पहुचे, तो ऋषि ने कहा लीजिये | और यहाँ दिवाली का मतलब होता है, कपडे ही कपडे | थोड़ा सोचिये सोये कहाँ होंगे वो, बिजली तो छोड़ दीजिये, जंगल में तो दीये भी नहीं मिलते होंगे, मिठाइयाँ खाते थे वो? गुझिया, बर्फी, रसगुल्ला? जब उन्होंने 14 साल तक मिठाई नहीं खाई, तो आप मिठाईबाज़ी किस बात पर शुरू कर देते है? कभी ख़याल नहीं किया ना? और ऐसा नहीं था कि वो जंगल में थे इसलिए भोग विलास से दूर थे, वो जब लौट के आये महल में तो भी जीए वैसी ही जैसे जंगल में जीते थे | वो राजा भी बन गाये, तो भी उन्होंने ये नहीं कहा था कि लाओ रसमलाई | जंगल में थे तो फिर भी सीता साथ थी,राज्य मिला, तो सीता भी छूट गई ऐसे थे राम |' We have literally ruined the real meaning of diwali. These days its all about shopping, sales, crackers, tons of lighting, sweets and gifts, and more and consumption. Which is totally opposite of which diwali is all about. Prabhu Ram ke Ayodhya waapas aane ki khushi mein, meri koshish hoti hai unke siddhanto pe chalna, unki tarah saral jeevan jeena. Ayodhya waasiyo ne agar unke aane ke mauke par chatayi bomb bicha kar unka swagat kiya hota toh, gilhari aur bandaro se bhi pyaar karne wale mere prabhu Sri Ram unse khush toh nahi hote. Aajkal ke hindu, dharm ke naam par gussa karna hi jaante hai. Isko hi wo dharm ko bachaane ka naam dete hai. Patakha kabhi nahi jalani chahiye, na shadiyo mein, na new year's mein aur na hi Diwali mein. Jai Sri Ram.

Honestly I never used fire crackers since I was in 4th standard. I saw a documentary on pollution by fire crackers and I felt very bad for it and that's why I never used fire crackers ever after.

Robin bhaiya patakhe fodna galat hai bhi aur nahi bhi , agar limited patakhe fode voh bhi khaali maidaan mein animals se duur toh hum bhi khush aur koi cruelty bhi nahi hui. This is my opinion. Whatever you say is 100% true . But what we sanatan dharmis hate is mocking of hindu festival every time. And moreover by those who remain quiet during Bakrid ,easter etc but during Diwali they are having strong feelings of animal welfare and they come to know that animals also exist. Robin bhaiya dil se hi nahi mera soul bhi aapko aur Peepal farm ko respect krta hai. And we know that you are not a man who is quite during Bakrid or having butter chicken or murg musallam behind the curtains . So as always I learn something from you. I take a resolution that I will reduce my patakhe consumption.

Main khud ek animal lover hoon..lekin meri personal soch ye hai ki virodh targeted nahi hona chahiye..jaise fire crackers ka virodh sirf diwali par nahi balki poore saal like shadiyon, jalso, aur sabhi community ke festival par hona chahiye..aur pani ki barbadi ki chinta sirf holi par wo log karte hain jinke banglow par roz 5-6 cars wash hoti hain..aise virodh par to koi bhi gussa katega kyonki ye saare virodh targeted lagte hain...

It's been 21 years now I left bursting crackers when I was 15 years old. For 2 decades i have seen very less change. But it has definitely reduced. We used to burst crackers early morning 4 am with sutli bomb. Now I can say Its 30 % less than our time.

आपने जो कहा वो बिल्कुल सत्य है। मैं खुद पटाख़े नही जलाता हूँ पर दिए अवश्य जलता हूँ। मुझे उन सभी लोगों से नफरत है जो दीवाली या होली पे इस तरह के ज्ञान देने आ जाते हैं जबकि वे बाकी के दिनों में मटन क़बाब, चिकन बिरियानी खाते हैं और सवाल करने पर ये बोल के निकल जाते हैं कि ये उनका पर्सनल चॉइस है।और प्रतिदिन कइयों लीटर साँवरो में पानी, गाड़ियों को धोने में पानी बर्बाद कर देते हैं।
