Even back in the 90’s it was dangerous in Florida. I put a boat horn on my little Rebel 250 in addition to the stock horn. They told me that about insurance back then too. They said ‘Most motorcycle accidents end in death so we don’t require insurance’. I was like daaamn.

I was a rider in the Orlando metro area for a couple of years. Started as a new rider there, 100% agree with all of Cruza’s points. Super dangerous and borderline unbearable and yes someone was literally trying to steal my bike in broad daylight in the middle of a massive parking lot at my job lmao. Every day was another fight for survival out there and didn’t know any better, now I do! Be careful out there in them hot potholed Florida roads! I ride in NW Florida. It's pretty bad, especially in Destin. I won't ride through there anymore. So many entitled tourists - they'll run you off the road in their luxury SUVs then act like it was your fault for being where they wanted to go. Now, I only ride when I want to get out into the woods and ride some back roads - away from traffic and tourists.

I'm on the East coast in central Florida and it's not too bad riding a motorcycle. I don't ride the interstates just mainly city commute on MT07. I just assume every old person is going to try and kill me, so I plan ahead and give them a wide berth. Every fatality I've heard of near me has been a person riding without a helmet. For some reason the Harley riders refuse to wear helmets.

I live in Florida, the absolute most dangerous area to ride a motorcycle is the tri county area of Palm Beach, Broward, and Miami-Dade county. When I ride my motorcycle to visit friend and family, I ride in and out at night between 10pm and 4am, NEVER during the day because it's too dangerous. If you are traveling to Miami on a motorcycle, the safest and most scenic way to travel is Hwy 27, Hwy 41, and A-1-A. These routes will steer you clear of I-95, Palm Beach, and Fort Lauderdale, and give you a safe route to Miami. Trust me, stay off I-95 if you want to live!

I love riding and I love my home state. I'm from FL and I've been riding for over 20 years. I started riding in Miami and now live in a northern area of FL. Traffic is bad all over this country, I've driven all over the U.S.A. as a long-haul trucker. FL is defiantly known for bad traffic, but the further northwest you go the more rural it gets. I think the heat is also a serious danger, along with deer and bad roads. The most important part as to why I love riding a motorcycle in FL is WE CAN RIDE ALL YEAR LONG!

Love the video Cruza. I love down here in SW FL and I want to get a bike so bad. I'm not sure if I should though knowing this information, the heat, and I don't even think I could ride if i wanted. I have my T1-L3 vertebre fused when I was 16 years old, this has left me with very poor mobility as you can assume and im thinking my dream of riding is dead. My Dude, You are absolutey right about all of that. I should point out that Florida is motorcycle country. Thousands of people in just one county ride motorcycles. We also ride all year long as opposed to the other states the put their bikes up for winter. 90 % of all motorcycle riders are not well trained I mean not the MSC course but advanced rider schooled. Mistakes are often fatal and riders suffer. Riding technique will save your ass but those must be employed and most riders have no Idea. Been riding for 40 years? That does not mean your qualified. I went to Florida in April. Drivers were terrible especially in South Florida Miami area. Rude Impatient and reckless. I almost got in an accident a few times. I was driving down the freeway in the right lane and someone quickly pulled into my lane in front of me and I had to slam on the brakes. Another time, I was sitting at the traffic light, and someone went around me to my left to make a right turn and almost hit a motorcyclist. And then another time, someone pulled out in front of me making a right turn. I slammed on the brakes and honked the horn. Driver was probably drunk since he pulled up to the liquor store. I would never ride a motorcycle there nor do I think I will go back there anytime soon. Traffic always sucks.

Moved to the suburbs of Tampa in 2005. Was nice and quiet, not too much traffic. Now if there's any empty piece of land, they're gonna build houses or apartments on it. It's crazy how congested its gotten, construction everynwhere. And the longer I'm here, the less I can stand the heat. Riding in the summer with vented textile jacket and pants is still brutal. Worst is the helmet. The inside gets soaked from sweating. And it's true, the drivers are the absolute worst! Hardly anyone uses their turn signals. Makes me think most of these people don't even know what it is. I do not ride on the highway or at night, just not worth the risk. My electric company just raised their rates, my bill last month was $375! Homeowners insurance is very high, mine just went up to $3300 a year. I'm 66 so full coverage on my bike is only $100 a year. But I'm thinking about selling the bike because of the heat. It's just not enjoyable when youre drenched in sweat.

Yeah winters are nothing like they used to be. I only shoveled the driveway one time last winter. I have managed to ride every winter since 2009. I've been all over the country and Ohio has much better drivers. You have the roads to yourself in the country. I'm on a Vespa PX 166cc , I wear high vis and a helmet, I go on the back roads (30mph and 45mph ), I ride super defensively, keep lots of space away from the cars, stay out of blind spots, friendly honk to be seen at times when i see a car merging onto the road I am on , but bay area CA wasn't people being as crazy, rode my Vespa there for 10 years. In FL I'm whenever possible safely pulling over to the side on some grass, or some driveway, whenever i see headlights or car behind me, bc i know there is a chance that the car will absolutely unsafely pass me on a narrow road no matter what speed I am going. I'm more towards Alachaua county, been here a year now. Seen a lot of cars run red lights, I see it weekly. Cars pass on the double yellow all the time. Seen cars use turn lanes to illegally pass quite a bit. I also completely avoid Friday and Sat nights now, seen way too many drunks. It's not worth it. Not gonna lie, I would not want to be a beginner rider here. Seems way more dangerous. Overall really aggressive drivers in FL (tailgating, lane changing in extremely tight minimal amount of space..etc). I see it a lot when driving a car too. A car even seems dangerous in FL tbh. Also the road design and rules of the road is not as safe compared to CA. I was in the Bay Area CA, not southern CA. That's my personal take and opinion on FL. And there are more people who do not pay attention on the road in FL.

I’ve lived in central Florida for 10 years. I avoid the highways, and only ride on the backroads around Lake County. Traffic is always crazy in the Orlando area. And I always keep my bikes inside a garage, or a storage unit, that way I keep them from getting stolen. And I never ride alone, in case I go down, or someone wants to get frisky, I’ll have someone cover my back at all times. You have to be smart when riding here, too many idiots in the road.

Major cities in Texas are the same. I'd get anxiety driving in it. I also lived in Tennessee and it's not much better as far as heat & traffic. I moved back to Ohio a few years ago and traffic is much better.. I'm in NE Ohio, like Cruza. Family is trying to talk me into moving back to Texas, but I really don't want to. Cost of living is way too high there too, due to millions of foreigners and Californians moving in for the strong jobs market, which is driving real estate prices through the roof.

I'm a senior from Georgia but dang, I had someone pull out from behind a panel van on A1A Sunday, saw that tiny nose of the car poking out so I moved over a lane, because I just knew they would pull out, they couldn't see squat, they were blind as a bat to what was coming, but they pulled right out. And the Heat, oh my, I rode out the other day in full gear and an ice vest, and came home a squid.

I live in Hialeah and I drive a 2019 zx6r. People don’t understand how terrible the drivers are down here. I drive my bike everyday just about, and every single day I drive, I almost always almost get hit. I use an insta360 though to hopefully protect myself from being deemed liable. But even if I get in an accident, as long as I am physically able to ride, I’m going to ride. Bike life till I die.

Being a victim of a hit and run sucks. I was on my way to the gym one night driving downtown on a one way three lane street. I'm in the far left lane and suddenly these two guys in a red truck cross over from the far right to make a left without seeing me clipping the front right fender. I signal them to pull over. When I pull over they punch the gas. I was chasing them with the cops on the phone. I couldn't get the license plate and they were running stop signs, stop lights. I decided to stop because someone was going to get hurt or killed. I was pissed but still made it to the gym.

My brother used to live in Coral Springs, which is outside of FLL; it's where Atlantic meets the Sawgrass Expressway. I borrowed my brother's bike when I visited him. He warned me about I-95, and I blew him off; after all, I'd ridden in NYC, on the Garden State Parkway, etc. MAN, I HAD A HEART ATTACK WHEN I RODE I-95 TO MIAMI! I didn't have a literal heart attack, but man, that was among the most scary experiences of my life. Why is that? In addition to the older people down there, you have folks from multiple other cultures down there. In many of the countries these people come from, there are no rules of the road as far as they're concerned. Oh, and it IS hotter than blazes down there in the summer time! I visited my brother once in early July when my company shut down for the week. I only rode with a helmet, long pants, and a t-shirt; I had no other gear on. I STILL sweat like a pig! CC, for all the reasons you cited, riding a motorcycle in South FL is no fun.

I agree 100%. I never leave my bike out of site, in fact I hardly park my bike outside even if it's for a minute. I ride north of Boca area and around Parkland very early in the mornings to avoid the caged assassins. Miami Dade is out the question for me lolll, crazy down there!

It's crazy man. Half the cars down here down here don't have working brake lights, all the old folks driving 20 under and all the hot heads zooming by lane splitting in their clapped out street racers, pot holes and storm debris. Wear full gear with my new helite airbag backpack whenever I ride

Facts. Central Florida is almost like Miami. I hate driving a car here. The risk in FL outweighs the enjoyment of riding.. I think twice about getting on mine on the weekends.. maybe Ocala is a little better.. but not for long….

Riding at night here in Tampa Bay is really putting your life on the line. Lot’s of drunk drivers. Bars everywhere with outside seating. Everybody having a great time. Motorcyclists speeding down the Cortney Campbell Causeway racing each other 100 mph. Still ride my motorcycle when I can. Got to get out early before it gets too hot!

U ain't lying i had a bike in Florida n it was scary on the road plus the wildlife is crazy, squirrels chewed up my wiring n laid a nest inside my bike from leaving it outside too much plus it rains way too much n if i get a new bike it'll be in the desert in a small town of Arizona or in New Mexico, I'll like riding where there is hardly any people on the road 💯💯💯

I have been riding in the Orlando area since 1971 and yes it’s dangerous. Now at my age consider to be a senior. I am constantly on the look out for the crazy car people. The other day, going to the gym. I had a female driver slid up behind me and scarce the day lites out of me. Lucky for me , I saw her coming. So I move to the right. Her brakes were like screeching. I got off my bike ready to throw hands. All she could say is sorry.

I do have insurance on my 2008 vtx 1800 and it's paid for but theft is high and I'd rather lose a little money than a lot for what I put into the upgrade of the bike which I know I would only get the blue book value on it if it was stolen.

Dang! My sister's ex bf had two of his motorcycles stolen. This one friend I had down there got so sick of his motorcycles getting stolen that he brought his motorcycle everywhere he went, into his job and apartment, always had his bike within eye distance. A friend of my family got killed down there on his motorcycle, very sad and his mom goes around telling everybody how dangerous motorcycles are but she doesn't realize she lives in a traffic war zone.

💯👍 I used to cringe when I had to drive into ATL, the traffic is like the wild wild west, cars flying everywhere and accidents all day long. Yeah ATL traffic and drivers are horrible. I remember back in the day you could go 1 mph past the speed limit without a GA state trooper pulled you over, now it is the complete opposite.

You also have to realize that FL is on the the top three list for most populated state in the USA, so you have people of all kinds there. Consequences is bound to happen when you have that many people living in a state. People with bad habits is what screws it up

I see lot's of wrecks around Atlanta GA .. There are a lot of bad drivers in FL .. I was in Auburndale FL driving an 18 wheeler.. I noticed about one out of three cars are all dented up from fender benders.. Funny I said ATL before I got to where CycleCruza said it .. In FL you have old blind and deaf people going really slow while the young people are going crazy fast with no curtisy ..no turn signals no edacate..

I’ve been riding for 3 years now and lived in Chicago. I’ve ridden in ice, snow, rain, and cold. Rode almost every day and even did the saddlesore 1000 to Houston. Never got into an accident. First time ever was 2 months ago when I moved to Tampa. Worst drivers in ANY state I’ve been in. A mix of old people and crazy drivers that feel the need to swerve past you at 100 mph. Roads are also straight and boring too. I’ll always keep riding, but not as often and only on scenic routes like Ocala, Ozello Trail, and Kissimmee State Park. Rather just get a boat, but those ain’t cheap 😂

I can only speak from experience driving a car down there. Everybody I knew that rode motorcycles down there had their motorcycles stolen. My sister's ex bf had two of his motorcycles stolen, he stopped buying them. lol My other friend used to bring his motorcycle into the building at his job and in his apartment. We had a family friend that got killed on a motorcycle and my neighbor got killed on his Harley. It is crazy down there!

I learned to ride at 13, 14(licenced) a county away from Florida. That was 1975. Even then when I dropped over to PCola, which is the very tame-ist city in FL....I wouldn't ride. Georgia is weird though. ATL is INSANE but North Georgia mountains is bike heaven with the most courteous and cooperative drivers in the country...for a bike. Most drivers have friends or relatives that ride. Most riders aren't hoodlums, streetfighters or aHoles....unlike ATL. SC is a no gear state. Every time i drop over there...i see squids in shorts, no cap, t shirts at 80mph on I85 or 20. NC, at least west NC is cool. E Tenn is also great riding but the drivers and riders out of Chattanooga or Knoxville are UNPREDICTABLE. CRUZA, if you bought your house near Dahlonega, Blue Ridge, Hiawassee or Tiger....you'd still be down here. However you bought a pretty estate in old rolling cotton country south of the good riding. Your place was nice, but it scared you with just loneliness

+100 on crazy drivers here in Florida, but I ride a Yamaha liter bike almost year round. If you want to fine tune your skills, ride here, because almost everyone is out to kill you. If you can ride here you can ride anywhere.

Yeah, I don't get why so many people live down there. You go down there and see how many cars are beat up POS. There's ads for personal injury attorneys around every corner. Half the people are overly aggressive and the other half are old as dirt. Either way, they can't drive. And the heat! This week the nighttime lows are 80 and the highs are 100. Your life basically depends on air conditioning. It's muggy, filled with bugs and reptiles. So, I'm good. Think I'll stay right here in good ol New England.

If you think it’s hot in Florida come to Texas. It’s not uncommon to have 30-50 a year over 100+ and for it to be upper 90’s for 3-4 months solid. That’s why I plan to move north next year after living here for 44 years, I am sick of this Texas heat. I love everything about Tx except the brutal summers.

Yeah Texas heat is horrible. I hate heat with a passion, there is nothing you can do when it is hot but try go to air conditioning. I moved from FL to CO because it was the coldest place I could think of at the time. lol I couldn't take anymore hot and humid sweaty nights and the air conditioning constantly breaking down.

Considering moving to Kentucky because it has 4 real seasons and some good deer hunting. We all hear of winter blues but Texas gives me summer blues because I just can’t handle this heat anymore. Had way to many heat strokes. Makes it hard to ride my MT07 and mornings are the only time I can handle the temps.
